Lot of modern made JRPGs doesn't appeal to me much anymore. They have narratives for young teenagers and shit, and there's nothing wrong with that, im just almost 40, not a young teen anymore, I don't find power of friendship Shonen style storytelling compelling anymore and that's like 60% of most jrpgs. 
 
But even then it still depends. Like Tales of Arise and Elden Ring are both action jrpgs but aside from not using turn based combat they are....nothing alike lol. I have both versions of Persona 5 but I passed on Star Ocean 5 because it's character designs where awful and I could tell the writing was probably going to match. I'd have probably given Xenoblade 2 a longer look if all the Blade designs weren't weirdly uncomfortable 14 year old girls with DDD titties.

I don’t think I’ve ever met anyone in my life who used JRPG as a negative connotation. To 99.9% of gamers under the sun it’s just meant “rpg’s from Japan”. Are there tropes tied into that acronym? Yeah sure. Some good, some bad. Look at Xenoblade Chronicles 2. But you could say that about any genre. 
 
they were also considered the pinnacle genre of gaming for decades. 
 
Then you have WRPG are just RPG’s made in the west. Again — nothing derogatory.

Kotaku is completely misrepresenting the issue here. I watched Tarks video on the subject and he clearly states that gaming media was discriminatory towards Japanese games at the time. Kotaku wants to present this as a community problem and that a fucking lie. They are deflecting hardcore.

I'm gonna need more proof then a Coke Head Adam Sessler review to start claiming JRPG means we're being racist. We already know Adam Sessler is a racist bigoted shit head, like thats nothing new. 
 
For me JRPG means RPGs made in Japan. During the SNES, PSX and PS2 Eras JRPGs was where the money was, it was a badge of honor. During the PS360 era they lost their way trying to chase western trends or appealing hard core to pedo bait style nonsense. 
 
So yea I need more the 1 review from a well known piece of shit.
