The longer I live, the more I realize that that line "All the girls walk by dressed up for each other" from Van Morrison's song 'Wild Night' is true. Women are tiddy lookers just as much as guys are, it's just a matter of whether or not they'll admit to it lol

Men, in the last 30 years especially, have been socialized to believe that if they find a character design hot, then it must be sexist somehow. So I'm not surprised that guys were arguing with her about her own fucking designs lol

'99 on PS1 was the first real kof I got to spend a lot of time with- had previously only encountered 94-95 a couple times on random Neo Geo cabs outside of my hometown. Technically, I could say I owned '95 beforehand, but it was the game boy port, which while cool for a GB title, was hardly the real thing.

There are so many instances where I can recall getting stuck on something dumb like that.  Very often, it's something I tried to interact with, but didn't quite hit the right spot for the character to "stick "/ cling/ activate/etc. The "yellow paint" phenomenon is probably the best way of addressing this in games where you can't interact with everything like you would be able to in real life.  It sure beats the hell of of "detective vision" mechanics.

The yellow paint discourse has been infecting my twitter feed sporadically for the past few days since the FF7  demo got released.   I really think devs probably need to have a toggle that turns the environmental guide/easy read stuff off so those people can attempt to play their games without it and then realize "....wait a sec maybe the devs are on to something here..."
And using Assassin's creed for this is not quite the same when your game is not obviously built that way for a "climb near anything" type of environment.  Some markers in the environments can definitely be egregious but people don't realize that the devs test this shit with people and 9 times out of 10 the normal player doesn't know what the fuck they're doing so they gotta make the choice to just slightly over correct or have a chunk of players be stuck on something that they thought was obvious.

There's a response that actually shows what this wall could potentially look like without the clear environmental indicator on it
This actually doesn't look bad to me.  I'd probably be able to figure this out but I know there are a lot of people out there that wouldn't.

The shotgun feels so good to use in that game, in a way it never did in any of the other games imo. To my mind, if you added some more weapons and maybe updated the combat a little, it would be the perfect DMC game, and truthfully, the combat is pretty robust considering how old a game it is.

Played through DMC1 this week, haven't done so since the collection was released on pc. Really reinforces all that discussion about the atmosphere being the best in that one.  Also, goddamn, I love the sound and feel of the shotgun in it.

I'd say DMC1  also has the best enemies. They arent just practice dummies, even a simple marionette will hurt you if you become complacent. Everything in the game is actively trying to kill. Not to say the later games in the series had pushover enemies but they are nowhere near as aggressive

But to get back to atmosphere, I also agree. It originally being a RE game is probably why the horror vibe was so strong in it. Would love for them to amp up the horror theme again in future titles. Rolling through the castle after the lights cut off was some creepy shit even tho you were super powerful by that point in the game

All the guns in DMC1 sound amazing. DMC1 still has the best over all sound design in the series imo.

I've been playing the old Shinobi games lately and I love them but they're a bit clunky especially whwre the platforming is concerned and how weird the double jump timing is. Kind of makes me understand better why newer Castlevania players find the older CV games clunky.

That said, I'm REALLY hoping the upcoming Shinobi feels like SoR4 does in comparison to the older games. Would be really nice to see this series back on the map with solid game that combines the best of old and new schools.

Have you seen Wonder Woman's bio that is supposedly be written by Lex Luthor? It's beyond cringe inducing. There is no way a character that is supposed to be Lex Luthor would write that. He wouldn't speak about Amazon society as perfection.  Nor would he use term "toxic masculinity" or even be concerned with it. Did anyone tell the writers they are supposed be writing the bio from Lex Luthor's perspective? Did Anita Sarkeesian write that pompous nonsense?

Idiots also seem to think that slavery was unique to America rather than the norm around the world for 99% of human history.

I'm still confused by what the hell that has to do with slavery. But I guess it's inevitable that slavery will be brought up in any discussion these days.  Also inevitable that someone will be called a Nazi.

I swear that when I 1st read it, it said Africa, as in Slavery was always present in Africa, long before the europeans came in.

Which Imo would make more "sense", than America.
