  1. I finished the Fallout show. It is good overall. Unique thing this show does compared to the games is it puts a big focus on how things were before the bombs hit.

    Spoiler

It actually reveals Value tec intentions for the vaults. Robert House and Sinclair were in on the plan.

Now I have to look into if the TV series is canon because a lot of things here gel well with the games. The only element I disliked was Maximus. I hated his character. They did so much fucked up shit for the sake of his power fantasy

    Spoiler

The fact that he always failed upwards just rubbed me the wrong way. The ending left me heated as he will be given credit for killing the NCR leader and restoring power to the city when he did none of that. He just happened to be there.

There's a lot to like for fans of the series and people just like post apocalypse shows

Interesting thread from a VG modeler on the real person scan discourse

I suspect that some will likely read through it and at some point just stop and go "nuh uh" and that's fine but this is some insight into what it takes to get some scanned models into the game and then tweak accordingly.  The thread even goes into some of the changes made to real scan models as well.

Who the fuck is this guy to call Mark Kern a grifter?

Honestly, I don't care that dude said this. The concerning thing to me is how thin skinned people are. People are getting salty about this. This is "1st world problems" personified.  So what. Gaming is bigger than Hollywood. It's not some niche industry that's being "punched down" on.

His comments are ridiculously out of touch. This is something I would expect a literal boomer to say

I can't co-sign Fallout. The first two games are worth it for the CRPG fan. Maybe less so for the people who started with the Bethesda games

If this means the original versions of FF1 & 2 then yeah. Considering how often those games have been remade I don't see any reason to avoid them. Any version of FF1 & 2 after the release of Origins is worth playing. The PSP remakes being the best ones imo.

It seems to me, at least from the outside, that Namco royally fucked up with Jin and more or less tried to put the toothpaste back in the tube. Like they regret that arc, if they were insistent upon going doing that route with Jin, maybe they should have had Devil Jin just take over. For all the insanity with Devil Jin it seems, not deep into to Tekken, that "regular" Jin did far more evil. From a story standpoint, what evil had Devil Jin actually done? From my basic understanding, the only time Jin went "Thanos" he did so of his own free will.

The only times devil Jin ever pops up is when Jin's live is in danger. Pre-T8 he had no control of the transformation and would go berserk. In T6 he takes control of the zanbatsu, declares war on the world and starts mass murdering people around the world so he can awaken Azazel, the originator of the devil gene. This was a conscious decision on Jin part. What T8 is trying to do with can fuck all the way off.

What's their other option?  Get rid of Jin, and then let Kazuya enslave the world instead?  Because Jin is the only one who can stop him.

It's not like they just gloss over it.  It's gets brought up, like, 50 times during the story.

Granted, he should probably be arrested when it's all over.  But by the end, he's just saved the world.  So according to Vegeta's Law, that cancels out the past atrocities.

I would have preferred if Lars was the lead instead like in T6.

My issue with the other characters is how they just gloss over what Jin has done. Leo is the only one who has the proper response and even they eventually apologize to Jin like wtf.

If he's the lead just because he's the only one strong enough to be on Kazuya 's level fine but the narrative is actually trying to redeem him and fuck that noise.

  7. I haven't checked into this thread in a while so I don't know if this was discussed already. I started playing Tekken 8's story and I fucking hate it. I've never had my intelligence insulted like this since the peak dark ages of WWE programming. How the fuck does this narrative treat war criminal Jin like a shonen protagonist and expect me to just buy into it? How is the villain of the story the only one making sense when it comes to Jin? How is Jin walking around free backstage in an arena and not having most of the people in try to kill him? The worst thing about this for me is that this story can work if someone else was the protagonist. This story would make far more sense if Lars was the lead over Jin.

I'll definitely try to watch this at some point.  I was trying to go back and read through early Archie and it was pretty slow going.  I ended up stopping so it'll be interesting to know when the stories started trying to be more serious.

according to the video the stories got serious when Penders got to write his first solo issue.

This something I'm going to have to start being more observant of. I'm stuck with the EA App (got it when it was Origin) because of the time EA decided they didn't want to put games on Steam and I just don't do Dragon Age games on console.  I refuse to use Epic. GOG is awesome though. It's up there with Steam for me. As for the rest, Uplay and the 2K launcher absolute trash. They save your graphics settings to the launcher not your PC. I had no idea Midnight Suns came with its own launcher despite it being a Steam game for me 😑

The GoG launcher is great. I bought Cyberpunk on GoG and had zero issues with it.

When did 2K get a launcher? I have Midnight Suns as well but I didn't start it yet. I guess I will have to put 2K on the not on PC list.

Starting to dive into the PC gaming space. For those that dabble both with consoles and PC, which is your go to if both options are available?

I always go for PC. Like Darc said, PC games are usually cheaper on launch and have sales more often. I don't need to pay for a service to play games online so I'm saving money annually. Most PC games will be 60 FPS at minimum and I don't have to worry about preservation as I have access to multiple generations of games within a single platform.

All I use my PS5 for are console exclusives and games I don't want to play on PC. I will buy the new Prince of Persia game on PS5 because Uplay is trash. Any PC game that requires specific publisher launcher like Uplay, EA App, Rockstar Social Club, etc is a no go for me as they are usually awful.
