  1. Yeah the latest Strive patch seems neat. Millia in particular seems zippy as all hell now. Hopefully we can line something up soon to play whatever. 🙂

And yeah I hear ya about weeknights. SFV has always pissed me off regardless of when I play it. Even then some nights its not worth potentially getting wound up so having something more meditative (like you said, MvC:I or something like that) can be really good to noodle with and just relax. I remember back in ye olde days I would just fire up something like MvC2 and fuck around for hours. I'm not sure if it is modern games or modern me but I don't feel that as much. Maybe something really crunchy like Skullgirls would be fun to mess with like that?

  2. Yeah Rooks was the first person I thought of with this patch. Hopefully Ky feels better overall but I think Strive may just not be a game where they are going to put in strong zoning projectiles (or at least not until there is a paradigm shift) which makes his design kinda funky. Hope you like Dragon Install!

Unrelated, (well kinda sorta since she has a projectile) I just remembered that I never fired the game up last patch to check out the I-No changes either.

It has been a long time since we’ve played! Tbh, I haven’t been playing FGs all that much lately - mostly have kept myself busy with other things.

Yeah MK11 was forever ago. I think the last time we played anything was Strive and that was near launch?

Life happens. I've been in the FG cooler for a good couple of months myself. Stressful times at work and (I think you've said something to this effect before) FGs aren't a great "cool off" game so after a 9-12 hour day I just crashed on whatever else I felt like doing.

5-6 sets isn't too bad for a run. One thing that kinda gets glossed over with FGs is the mental tax of playing them, especially like you said when you're really focusing on what is going on. I can immediately feel when my focus starts to drop and that is when matches also start to tank. I'm good for like an hour max anymore.

So long as you're having fun, that is the important part. I still have MK11 installed on my PS4 I think so maybe we could fire that up sometime. I think I remember one Skarlet combo. 😉

Went back to Kitana when I got back into the game. Mileena has some fun/fluid combos but I don’t like her neutral. Kitana is basically the opposite, but I love her neutral and she has a fun corner combo

Amusingly that is also why I like Ram in Strive 😄

Its been so long since we played, I was trying to remember who you played. I was pretty sure it was Kitana. You playing online when you fire it up?

I’ve been playing a lot lately (am honestly more interested in it than Strive, Melty, or whatever else).

if anyone ever wants games on PS or XB, let me know.

Vhozite, one day I’ll get a good enough PC and then we can play each other

Play what you love brother. 👍

Who you playing in MK11 these days?

Thanks for the congrats Tables, but (and this is going to anti-climatic and scrubby), but fuck this game lol

Idk what it is about it but it stresses me out like no other FG or game I’ve ever played. Matches are tense/stressful the whole way through, and it wreaks havoc with my stress-levels. I had to take a break for my sanity. Right now I’m playing bass again and Gran Turismo Sport.

Looking forward to Melty though. I’ll play you in Strive if you’re down (but it has been a while for me. I haven’t played since before Goldlewis came out)

Lol I hear you man. There is something in the alchemy of SFV that I think triggers some people. I am right there with you.

Like I get stressed playing Strive but it is a totally different experience. It's more that the game is intense. With V I feel like I'm fighting the mechanics and the netcode as much as the other person (and some of the character designs spike my blood pressure).

I haven't played since before Goldlewis. I definitely want to get back in there and probably will now that my schedule is calming down. I'm also definitely gonna grab the new Melty. Looks like a grand time.

Swapped to Cammy and made Super Silver for the first time.

Super late on this but congrats man, I knew you could do it!

So much of this hobby is just "time in" so if you keep chipping away at it, you can definitely get to Gold (and beyond if you want to really keep at it). There will be ebbs and flows so don't let a bad run discourage you.

I can try to fire up V sometime if you ever want to get matches in. I'm also insanely rusty (haven't played since the last time we played, I'm pretty sure) so I'll be an easy win. 😄

  8. Yeah definitely. The difficulty of playing T7 is kind of overblown in the sense that to just get in there and get started, it really isn't that bad. There is a shitload you can and will need to learn but that is more on the side of long-term-depth and is the kind of stuff that comes with time/practice. Had a similar experience with +R.

T7 was also when I figured out I don't really like 3D fighters much anymore so wasn't particularly motivated to stick with it. For anyone that is into it, its great the game has had such a healthy lifecycle.

  9. I have zero idea how Melty this blood is but it sure looks neat and does tickle similar centers in my brain that enjoyed Under Night so much.

Plus the game is damn pretty. Its one of those games that looks like a fake game with how crisp everything is.

Also between this, Strive, and KOF15 we are in the New Age of Dry UIs. There are worse problems of course and at least none of them (IMO) are straight ugly like MvC:I.

  10. I thought this was a new thread and was gonna tag Darc in it just to troll him.

T7 is real fun but I realized pretty quickly on that I wasn't going to be able to put enough time into it consistently to enjoy it. I run too hot and cold on FGs for something quite that crunchy. I wish games like this were available online when I was younger.

  11. OFC that was a Chipp player.

Jack-O is super one dimensional...all she does is manage minions, but maybe she was like that in Xrd I wouldn't know.

I didn't play Jack-O in Xrd but I did check her out (and not just for the crouching animation). She's always been super heavy into the minion management. In Xrd she actually had to manage their goofy little minion houses. This version definitely seems more streamlined (or maybe just refined) but yeah that's her thing.

    Jack-O: Thirst and Minions.

One thing I forgot was how absolutely tired learning a new character makes me. I labbed Ibuki for 40 minutes and I am exhausted… I am too stupid for fighting games lol

It definitely is legit mental work trying to learn a new character or re-learn a bunch of shit you forgot (I gotta do this for Strive sometime soon here) so it's not just you. Especially after a good couple of months off.

When in doubt, EX Kunai! If you're out of meter....uh.....6HK? All I know about Ibuki I learned fighting Golds like 2 years ago.

  13. Apparently rollback netcode costs you starting roster slots. Definitely worth it in the long run though. They can easily fill the game out with DLC (not like they weren't going to anyways) and better to be able to play it way more reliably. Plus with them implementing rollback here it will theoretically carry forward with KOF (good for the franchise) and hopefully they'll consider it for other properties.

Rollback definitely puts this back on my radar.

Some people think it could lead to FarS > 5HS > Darou restand, making her mid screen game more of an option. I’m real excited for these changes. Thought she was going to be hit harder with the Twitter force complaining about everything. Glad the team tried to buff everyone as well in some way.

Yeah that is my read on it as well. Honestly I can't see anything else it can be, given that is the main scenario it doesn't work in currently. Like maybe they are buffing it to be more consistent but I don't think so. f.S, HSxxDauro definitely sounds delicious.

  15. Tried to read it this morning but my eyes were tired and the text was tiny on my phone. There are a couple of hits in there but its overall they weren't kidding about not rocking the boat too much.

Ram buffs were unexpected, curious as to what the Dauro buff leads to. The Agresa Ordonto buff feels random but hey why not. j.HS nerf makes total sense, that button is so damn good.

Interesting in continuing to work on I-No with those changes. Not that I know a lot with her but just faster dash movement sounds pretty great. Hopefully the timing of the patch lines up with when I'll be able to start playing again.

Rooks I take it that Ky didn't get the changes you were hoping for? 🙂
