I wanna try Ky's new jS jD routes. His jH soft-spikes, ending air combos, so he can now do some nice higher damage aerial combos, especially in the corner.

Also wanna see if less fireball recovery makes a difference in the Axl matchup.
Kizzie said it's a gaslight patch for zoners 😂

This patch has roused me out of my crypt.

The double-barrel Nago patch buffs slightly terrifies me; Shahenzan already ran over me before. The Ram changes look fun. Hopefully I can crack into it later today.

Amusingly that is also why I like Ram in Strive 😄

Its been so long since we played, I was trying to remember who you played. I was pretty sure it was Kitana. You playing online when you fire it up?

I’ve been playing a lot lately (am honestly more interested in it than Strive, Melty, or whatever else).

if anyone ever wants games on PS or XB, let me know.

Vhozite, one day I’ll get a good enough PC and then we can play each other

Its easy as there are a few things that contribute to this:

    1) normals are kinda bad overall. So you're always uncomfortably close to people.
    2) You can't kill somebody through regular chip damage, so they get to live longer than they do in a lot of other games artifically.
    3) V-triggers make it so that, even if you have a lead, your opponent suddenly gets to have more tools than you for X amount of time and get an upper hand because they were losing.

Also the netcode sucks all the dicks.

Thanks for the congrats Tables, but (and this is going to anti-climatic and scrubby), but fuck this game lol

Idk what it is about it but it stresses me out like no other FG or game I’ve ever played. Matches are tense/stressful the whole way through, and it wreaks havoc with my stress-levels. I had to take a break for my sanity. Right now I’m playing bass again and Gran Turismo Sport.

Looking forward to Melty though. I’ll play you in Strive if you’re down (but it has been a while for me. I haven’t played since before Goldlewis came out)

Lol I hear you man. There is something in the alchemy of SFV that I think triggers some people. I am right there with you.

Like I get stressed playing Strive but it is a totally different experience. It's more that the game is intense. With V I feel like I'm fighting the mechanics and the netcode as much as the other person (and some of the character designs spike my blood pressure).

I haven't played since before Goldlewis. I definitely want to get back in there and probably will now that my schedule is calming down. I'm also definitely gonna grab the new Melty. Looks like a grand time.

Super late on this but congrats man, I knew you could do it!

So much of this hobby is just "time in" so if you keep chipping away at it, you can definitely get to Gold (and beyond if you want to really keep at it). There will be ebbs and flows so don't let a bad run discourage you.

I can try to fire up V sometime if you ever want to get matches in. I'm also insanely rusty (haven't played since the last time we played, I'm pretty sure) so I'll be an easy win. 😄

There was some relatively high ranked (borderline Diamond) high level Balrog I played recently with Rose. I did the same cross-up setup with Trigger 1 twice and it always hit, so by the time the third opportunity presented itself in the rematch I thought "ok, he knows it's a crossup, lets fake it and don't teleport". Guess what happened? He blocked. I mean I could give him the benefit of the doubt and say he was three steps ahead but the reality is probably different.

I’m going to grab that melty blood game for PS4. I know it will have a fraction of the playerbase that PC does, but idc. It looks really fun… took a bit for me to get past the aesthetics (character designs etc), but the movement and action  looks really exciting.

It took me a long time to understand when I should (and when I should not) press buttons in this game, and I’m still learning.

Ambiguous cross-ups have also F’d me up a lot

edit: also, this game tilts me a lot and makes me very emotional, which has lead to a lot of chokes (dropping confirms, combos, AAs, etc) when it really matters

Don't feel bad man. I've been mainly using Kolin for years and the highest I got was one game from hitting gold. I made a choice, I can play more and stress about points. Or just play periodically and have fun. I chose the latter.

Swapped to Cammy and made Super Silver for the first time.

Ibuki’s fun, but a little too gimmicky for me. I just want someone solid and Cammy suits me better (in SFV anyway).

the kicker is I would’ve hit super silver a long time ago if I just stuck with one character instead of struggling in a few silver matches, changing mains, and creating a new alt account for that main to rank up from, then struggling in silver with them, and repeating with a new main and account… the dumbest thing was I was trying to make a new alt account for Ibuki but was having issues getting it approved via PSN, so I just stuck with my normal account. Glad I did… not that super silver is any hard feat, but glad to finally make some sort of improvement, and be able to fight a random ultra silver for the first time lol.

Not to mention that the more popular an activity becomes, the more it will be catered towards the lowest common denominator. If the developers/inventors of any activity, not just gaming, smell money, they will dumb it down to the point where any mouth breather can have a crack at it. SFV is the perfect example of this. I'd like to be proven wrong, but I doubt we'll ever see a game such as ST again (at least as a triple A release), or a VF6 without super meters.

As for the "whether - or" question I'll be honest and say that I'd rather have a big pool of average players to fight than a small pool of really good ones. I don't hide that I play fighting games rather casually. Not the jumping around and mashing buttons levels of casual, obviously. I look up my punishes, I pay attention to my spacing and screen position, I anti-air (sometimes), but the moment a combo needs a microwalk or a button is only considered good if you can single hit confirm it I'm out.

So for me a group of player that is fine just being at that level as potential playing partners is ideal. It's not that I don't want to get better, but it's just that I don't want to put more effort into it, if that makes sense? I want to come home from a day off work, boot up the game, be only at 70-80% because I'm either a bit tired or annoyed and still managed to win a game or two. Fantasy Strike at one point didn't derank you out of the highest rank. I managed to get there for reasons I don't know and I was literally the worst player at the highest level in that game. I got outplayed in every single match until they reset the ranks again and it was ultimately just a very miserable experience. I can see why really competitive players would prefer a smaller, but also stronger envirnment, but I think that might just drive me away from the genre for good.

Yeah, I tried yesterday with 4-5 bar restrictions as opposed to my normal 3-5 bars, and it was much better.

When they updated the netcode 2-3 years ago, they changed the bars so that the old 4 was the new 3, and I mostly didn’t have issues with old 4 bar connections, so I was okay with the new 3-5 most of the time… I was also, previously, having issues where it would take like an hour to find a 4 or 5 bar match, so I kinda had to keep at 3-5 to find anything regularly.

After the mess the other day, I tried searching for 4-5 bars only and found 4-5 bar matches within a minute like everytime and the connection has mostly been good (except for people I assume to be on wifi).

so, yeah, I’ll probably be playing this more regularly.

T7 was the first 3d fighting game I ever tried to learn. I felt that the biggest barriers to overcome were the movement, knowing the proper iFrame punishes, matchup knowledge, wakeup options, and silly little nuanced things like throw breaking, chicken technique, etc.

I've heard many Tekken veterans say that T7 was "more 2D" than other 3d fighters. I played Tag Tournament 2 about a year ago and can certainly notice what they are saying. The movement in T7, while still very advanced, is more stiff compared to previous entries. (Or at least the Tekken's that used the "bound" system.)

Obviously this game isn't for everyone. I do feel like this is a good entry level 3d fighter for anyone interested but not wanting to take a plunge into something more technical.

I thought this was a new thread and was gonna tag Darc in it just to troll him.

T7 is real fun but I realized pretty quickly on that I wasn't going to be able to put enough time into it consistently to enjoy it. I run too hot and cold on FGs for something quite that crunchy. I wish games like this were available online when I was younger.
