    SoR4 is only 2P right? 😢

I'm in a weird spot with PS5. I'd love to get one but actually getting one is such a fucking pain in the ass that I haven't been able to make it happen. Been sitting on dat PS5 money since the end of last year. Fuck the botters and scalpers.

+1 for Control. The atmosphere and writing are top notch and on top of that it is just really goddamn fun to play. It takes a little while to open up but once you start unlocking some stuff it became one of my favorite 3rd person shooters ever.

Haven't played it on PS4/5, been playing it on PC. But the PS5 should be able to run it well which is doubly good because that game can be a real looker with some horsepower behind it.

Played SOR4 last night and it was fun (and @KingTubb you were right, i like Cherry a lot), but pressing X to jump on Hitbox really messed me up - I booted up Rev2 afterwards and kept pressing F+K (which i have mapped to X) to start my IADs.

One thing I haven’t seen said much about the PS5 controller is how much more responsive the sticks are. It was a very noticeable change in Doom Eternal.

it feels nice. I am going to download GT Sport again because it may feel a bit nicer in this pad

    Good move.

For anyone hunting I used this site:
    https://www.nowinstock.net/videogaming/consoles/sonyps5/

I actually bought 3 and had to cancel 2 of them lol. My work computer thinks I'm 3 hours away from where I actually am and I accidently bought one at a bestbuy in the middle of nowhere. Twice.

But rural Bestbuys and Targets are a good route. Both of those stores require an in-store pick-up and stock goes slower in less populated areas. If you're willing to drive, you can pick one up a little easier. You still have to be quick.

Have some tech for Best buy and PSdirect too lol

This is 100% what I'm doing right now and it works flawlessly.

And they run better than they do on PS4. You get any performance upgrades that would be there if it was on the 5's storage. Loading times are just a little slower than they would be if it wasn't working off a external HD, but faster than a base PS4 from what I can tell

For real, grab yourself some storage @Mattatsu

Congrats on the PS5 man, your wife is a saint. Never ask her how many people she had to stab to get that thing.

Heads up the PS5's native storage space is tiny. As you've discovered the actual working size is decently smaller than what is spec'd. Also worth noting that you can run PS4 games off of an external HD and they'll run pretty much the same as they would on the PS4 (there were some concerns over external HDs causing issues with "rest mode" but based on what I've heard its inconsistent and there have been a number of updates since then). If you can try to save that NVMe space for PS5 games, PS5 enhanced games, or PS4 games you really love.

As for what to get right now: real slim pickings. Legit the best PS5 game right now is probably the Astro's Playroom pack in.

My awesome wife just gave me a PS5 for an early b-day present. This is awesome, but now I have no idea what to play on it... Anyone know of any good PS5 games?

also, Tubb, I think this should still run SOR4 alright tomorrow. If not, I’ll hook the PS4 up. I downloaded it last night.

In other news, my mom is visiting and taking care of the kids, and it is glorious. So much free time!

I actually bought Yatagarasu Attack on Cataclysm because I was hype for it way back when. So sad it didn't get finished, didn't get GGPO.

I started wondering if I could add it in personally, which led me to brushing up on my C++ skills and getting the example Steam game up and running on my box.

Mom leaves this weekend and I'm already sad.  Fuck it's nice to have free time.

Managed Super Plat with Laura. Aiming for the next rank eventually after the rank / derank rollercoaster  is passed.

I get zoned and outpocked like crazy in some matches but getting there slowly. I do enjoy playing her though.

Double Dragon 3 on NES can suck a dick. I was always so excited to play that game due to the different chars but despite renting it and replaying it a ton I never beat it. The game was so unforgiving that at least for me I'd either have a really good run and get pretty far in the game (rare) or everyone dies in the first couple of stages and game over (much more common).

Going back to beat 'em ups is always a good time. One of the things that I always find really interesting is the shift you start to see around the 16-bit era where the mechanics get more sophisticated and they basically turn into lite 1/2 vs many fighting games. AvP is still my favorite beat 'em up ever not just due to the property or the art (peak Capgod) but because of how much fun that game is to play mechanically.

I think that is the thing that beat 'em ups do that no other genre quite touches. When they work right, they're games you can fire up and just roll through waves of dudes, feeling like a badass. SoR4 did a great job at realizing that.

My tinfoil hat theory is that the reason +R got this out of the blue is because they already had the idea for Strive and maybe used +R as a prototyping exercise. Regardless, very cool feature to get in any game.

Considering that modern replays seem to be mostly just saved strings of inputs, its probably something most games could implement given the time and resources (which is always the hard part).
