I say this with all due to respect to SonicFox as a player and a human (fox?), and with all due respect to how anyone feels about Strive (positively or negatively):
 
I have never given a scant fuck about what SonicFox thinks about most anything and I certainly am not going to start now.
 
I agree wholeheartedly with Vhozite's point about tribalism, though it isn't just the FGC. I've seen it in every one of my hobbies over the years. The internet just makes it seem worse/gives it a platform.

Tribalism is sucks. For a FGC standpoint I've personally experienced it the most with Virtua Fighter and Dead or Alive. "Why don't you play Tekken?" Because I don't like it. 

And when you tell people that, they act like you spat in their child's face. 
 
They ain't Harada, why the fuck do they care if you don't like their game? That's the thing I'll never understand.

So at first glance this is just f.sei akiha from mbaa, but looking closer you can see that she like Kouma is an amalgamation of all seifuku moons
 
She has:
F-Sei's rings, 214x (which gets jump canceled in the trailer, thats new), 5c, 3c (which has an increase now), j.b
C-Sei's 5c, j.c/j.[c], 2c, 22x (which seems wider than before), 6c
H-Sei's 2a, and some moves that overlap with C-sei
 
They showed her classic command grab but they only showed a metered version which didnt exist before and not the meterless version, it also gives better combos than before since she got 5c(?) instead of just 5a like she would in mbaa. Not sure if she'll have a meterless one. They also showed a teleport followup to shield that she never had, dunno if this is unique to her or a universal option everyone has after successful shield. There may also be a GG/BB style clash system in place that didn't exist in old melty, as evidenced at 29 seconds in when akiha's kick clashes with kohakus jump in.

Strive is weirdly polarizing for some reason. 
 
Most games you can nitpick the flaws, and the zealot defense force is small enough that everyone knows their names.  And for the most part no one pretends that the preferences of a handful of tournament players is going to make or break the game's player base.
 
No game has ever been saved just because SonicFox enjoys it, so why is everyone acting like SF's killing the game by not enjoying it?

I don’t think most people are coming out of the woodwork hating Strive because of Fox. I think it’s people who already disliked the game feeling validated about their criticisms of the game. Most criticisms of Strive I see you’re either brushed off completely or strawmanned as someone who only wants marvel combos, an old man who hates any new game in a series, or any other variety of negative FGC stereotypes. The main difference now is that it’s someone who’s known I guess, tho idk if he’s actually any good at GG. I don’t give a shit about pro players. 
 
I will say that as annoying as you find people like you mentioned hating Strive instead of just leaving it be, I myself find Strive players acting like it’s the 2nd coming of Christ to be just as annoying. Liking the game is reasonable, but people like the guy on the Reddit sub right now claiming that Strive has combos and self-expression “2nd to none” get on my damn nerves.
 
Honestly I think I just hate fighting game players period. The super tribalist attitudes over every series and every game in a series is so tiresome.

I’d take this a step further and say shotos in general are fun mechanically, and that constantly introducing evil versions of these characters is redundant. But money talks and they’re popular so 🤷🏽‍♂️

They messed up with Season 2 and 4 but to be fair for this season  it's not entirely their fault. Covid & supposed leadership issues led to problems with SF6 so they kind of shoehorned another season into this game's life. The decision to even do Season 5 was probably made not too long before its announcement.
 
To be honest I'm surprised they're still on track with this, considering all the other delays going around in the industry.

This "roadmap" thing that Capcom decided to do with SFV seems super short sighted now that I think about it. They told us a year ago what content we'd get a year later, and it's exhausting to stay excited for that long, so at this point (especially with Strive dropping and being damn good) excitement has turned to apathy. 
 
It feels like they're dangling a carrot and it feels kinda shitty

I think whoever came up with that survey was just a big Primal Rage fan though. Like if I was making surveys like that you bet your ass I'd have Weaponlord on that list just to see whose opinions actually matter. ⚔️

Super cool that capcom always dives into the ol' bag to bring up characters that haven't had a game in over a decade and just throw them in games that actually make money. 
 
But also, fuck you capcom for reminding me we'll probably never see another Okami. Now go put Morrigan and Viewtiful Joe in something else.
