GetTheTables got a reaction from KingTubb in The Street Fighter V Thread
Yeah I'm mostly on board with Tekken's. Its not some big blow out thing, unless you choose to spend it that way, and then its gone.
I think Ultras are dumb. Less dumb than the current situation of VTs + meter for days = every round ends in a rocket tag situation, but still dumb.

What PC are you building with less than $200??? That wouldn't even get you a Chromebook.

I think the motivation comes from player agency and cold hard cash.
A lot of the FGs we hold dear are made by big companies. Big companies like to make big money, and while some FGs sell well I'm sure the execs don't GAF about any game that isn't putting up CoD numbers. We've seen a lot of developers try all kinds of shit, not just comeback mechanics, in the hope of broadening the audience, generating more sales, and (probably at least in Capcom) doing more to validate the money the company is throwing at the game.
The reality still is though if you make a cool looking fighting game that gets people excited, people will buy it. The actual sauce to selling a FG is hype. If people are excited to play a FG, then they will. Simple as that. Good luck pitching that to higher ups though. Respect to Ono for doing it for as long as he did.
SFV has been (rightly IMO) dogged for years for all of its faults, yet it has still sold really well. Absolutely none of that is owing to the quality of the game; all of it is due to the community and CPT driving player desire. Shit I'm still sort of interested in the game and when I think about playing it I get pre-mad. But the hype and community keep drawing me back in, and doubtless will until they sunset this fuckin thing for SF6.

The no-chip in SFV combines with V Triggers to lead to so many comeback rounds I legit sort of forgot what a real comeback looked like. SFV isn't unique with that - a lot of modern FGs have tried to slap in comeback mechanics with varying level of them being a pain in the ass - but it sticks out in this game more than most for me.
Every time a commentator uses the phrase "magic pixel" with this game I die a little inside.
Watching +R games from the rollback beta sorta shocked me out of that coma.

I know I’ve said this 100 times (and you are all probably tired of it), but, comeback mechanics actually remove comebacks, not enable them.
the instant you start heavily rewarding failure, suddenly a situation where you are behind is no longer a disadvantage.
if you punch G enough that he gets VT, is he really behind? In fact the odds are in his favor, which means at that point it’s the “winning” player that needs to make a comeback.
in short, fuck revenge meters.

Gonna pick up my PS5 today. I haven't bought a single game for it yet. Waiting till Dec 1 for the physical release of DMC5. My primary reason for getting it was that it's a 4K player, This was the main reason why I didn't upgrade to a PS4Pro. I am interested in the Miles Expansion for Spider-Man though.

Look man, if you wanna go down the conspiracy theory avenue, that's fine. But stuff like that is like a penis:
It's okay if you have one, and if people are talking about it you can bring it up, but you should never, NEVER, just whip it out unsolicited.

I have played GG in the past, but I haven't really touched Xrd.
I dunno, its like, there's so many things in SFV that make just... not care, even if they aren't broken. Un-reactable dashes (for me), V trigger, random crush counters, throw system, and just a whole lot of the match where nothing is really going on.
Like I don't hate SFV, but sometimes, it all just hits and I mentally check out.

I don't know if we have a CV/BS thread here already or not, but if not, here we go.
Been getting back into Bloodstained RotN lately while waiting for the patch to make Vigil: The Longest Night better playable on the Switch. Speedrun mode is a lot of fun but tough because in order to get a good time, chances are you're going to be underleveled and that's especially a problem with bosses (which is where Ive been having most of my trouble.)
Boss Revenge mode? Fun AF. Getting to play ALL these characters (besides Bloodless who is coming as a main game character this month) in the main game would be really fun and something I kind of hope they implement at some point.

16bit is about 5x times the work. As fidelity goes up the work load grows exponentially. That's why a lot of Indies for with an 8bit look. It's classic, looks "good" and the work load is manageable for one to 2 people which a lot of Indy devs are.
For reference Crimzon Clover is made by 1 guy and it took him 7 years. Iconoclast was also made by 1 guy and it took him 6 or 7 or something.
Edit: Rythm mini games are always the worst part of any game. Karaoke was the only real solid undeniable flaw with Sleepy Dogs. It's also only 1% of the game and yet I dread it every time I play.
Double Edit: I forgot Sakuna of Rice and Ruin was out. I must have it!!!
Triple Edit: And fuck me this review for it just said Odin Sphere had "Sprawling Metroidvania Level design."
NO IT DOESN'T!!! FUCKING CHRIST!. You can't just shove the word Metroidvania into shit because you lack to vocabulary to properly express yourself. God dammit man. How the fuck does a game with 0 fucking exploration in it have Metroidvania Level design? There isnt even any platforming in Odin Sphere like fuck the world man!!!!!

Those were some fun ass fights. I think GG is still my favorite of all the games we've played. Looking forward to Strive and hopefully solid rollback.

I mean it can't play them that much worse than now right? Even with a Pro the PS4 is a still a struggle bus sometimes. Less so with FGs but you do still feel load times and performance here and there.
I've been lucky enough to stash PS5 money and I'm enough of a weeb that I know I'll want exclusives eventually (same thing got me to buy a PS4) so I'm sure I'll grab one. I'm not doing this mad scramble bullshit that happened with preorders and may happen on release day but once they are a little more readily available I'll end up with an obelisk in my living room.
