The Game Music Thread 🎵

I decided to check out more Game Brass since they're going to be a Magfest this year and they did a cover of a Rouge track with DiscoCactus.  I'm in love lol.

Also this version they did of Big Boo's Haunt was interesting.  The original is not something I would say is like...."Good" but it's extremely moody which is perfect for the stage.  I like the arrangement they did for this.

Using the Tuba in place of the ...uhhhh...."melodic creepy groans" was pretty nice.  I don't know exactly how to describe what that is in the original track lol.

I missed some of the other announced people that will be at Magfest this year as i didn't know DiscoCactus and Super Soul Bros was going to be there as well.  Knights of the Round sounds interesting...may check out what they sounds like at some point.  If Super Soul Bros. does their version of "Lights, Camera, Action" then I will be extremely happy.

After finding out that Victor Borba did song that was in the background for the latest Death Battle I decided to take a look into his youtube channel.  Found out that Chester Bennington was one of the major influences for how he sings and became a bigger fan of his.  Dude does a hell of a job with the screams on some of the LP covers on his channel that it nearly sounds identical to him.

Also found out that he did a cover of "Undefeatable"

Victor also does a really good "The Rumbling" cover if you're interested.

Also in the process of coming across that "The Rumbling" cover I found out that the youtube channel where the video is does Argent stuff for those who like Mick's Doom sound.  The moment I heard the first few riffs the track on the home page of the channel I was like "....This sounds Argent...".  And of course you start looking through the videos and...

Main Stage

Acts that didn't quite make the Main stage will show up in jamspace

Chipspace -  If you like chip tunes you may want to tune into this space periodically cause that's where most of the chiptune dj/muscians will be.  I'm not really familiar with any of the people who will be showing up but you can look at the schedule and narrow it down to just the chipspace and research people if interested.

Doesn't look like they have a stream set up Belvedere lobby area or the Gazebo which is where Triforce Quartet usually have their second concert after being on the main stage.  I'm hoping that maybe they'll have them streaming on the main magfest stream perhaps.

There's actually 2 panels I'm really interested in one being at 8:30pm on Thurs that's going to have 8bit Music Theory breaking down music from Smash and then there's a panel Fri that talks about the music theory behind FF7 Fri at 10 am...probably won't get to the 2nd one so hopefully they record it to be watched later.

Throwing this out there as a reminder for today.  The Oneups will be on the main stage at 7:30, Lame Genie at 8:40 and then 8 bit Big Band at 10:20.  All Eastern Standard.

Edit: All 3 of these guys were amazing 8 bit band being fucking PHENOMENAL.  The 8 bit was so huge that the lines had to curl and go back around and ended up taking over the hallway.  They played some tracks they haven't played before including Dolphin Shoals and also announced that the 4th album is on the way.

There was a Splatoon rock cover band playing in the hallways of Magfest that calls themselves Depth Charge that looks like they're based in the DC area.   They sounded pretty good in the hallway while I was waiting in line for 8 bit.  Looking up videos of them online and they don't as good as they did in the hallway.  Best I can describe is they sound kind of unpolished.   They have some potential so I subscribed to keep an eye on them.

Megaran put up the track that he did for River City Girls 2

Magfest starting putting up some of the performances, Button Masher was someone I kinda wanted to see since he had a hand in the "Revenge of Meta Knight" arrangement for 8 Big Big Band.  If you like chip tunes you may dig it.

Edit:  This SMW Castle remix this man is doing at the end of this set is fucking godlike lol  He's got the actual instruments from the SNES tied to his keyboard.

Edit 2:  I'm not big into Austin Wintory but I know people love the soundtrack he did for Journey.  He did a performance with Mason Lieberman who is someone I'm aware of that does game and anime music

Magfest put up the concert for WASD

This is my first time hearing of them but they focus on rock/metal covers of specifically PC games.  I'm not that big into PC but listening to them currently they still sound good regardless.  If you like PC and electric guitars then there might be something for you to like out of this.
