Hecatom Posted November 8, 2025 Posted November 8, 2025 (edited) Finished Frankenstein. Is almost excellent, it has some minor things that puts it down for me, not in cinematography, acting, or other tecnical side, on which the movie is simply great. But certain changes on the story, specifically with Elizabeth (dunno why, but since a kid, I always loved the novel), so the changes made kind of rub me the wrong way, specifically Spoiler That she is for some reason in love with the creature. I can live with her not being the fiancee of Victor, and instead of William. But to fall in love with the creature, feels rushed 😕 which is something that the final 10 mins of the move feel like, the whole movie had a good pace until the creature confronts Victor and Victor kills Elizabeth trying to kill the creature, from that point onwards it feels rushed, which imo is kind of a let down, since I think the movie would have bennefited from 30 to 40 mins more to actually develope the idea if they really wanted to go that route. Over all a very good adaptation all things considered, even with the changes made. Apparently the next possible movie from Del Toro could be The Phantom of the Opera, which if true, I would love to see it. Del Toro always delivers. DangerousJ Posted November 9, 2025 Posted November 9, 2025 I just saw Predator Badlands. Pros: Great action and fx/costumes. We learn something about the Predator race. There is relatively lots of dialogue for the Predator. The protagonist is likable but tough. This movie feels like the T2 of the franchise. Elle Fanning does a great job too. I am unfamiliar with her . Good tense atmosphere and some small twists Misc: It is very similar to most modern sci fi action films, but very different from a traditional predator film. It works for this film and it doesn't become too cheesy like 2018 The Predator thankfully. If they make sequels for this set of characters, they need to tread carefully. Trachtenberg is 3/3 for the last 3 films imo 8/10 Equal to Prey Darc_Requiem, RSG3, Jurassic and 2 others 1 3 1 Quote

RegH81 Posted November 12, 2025 Posted November 12, 2025 My Shin Godzilla steelbook arrived on Sunday. At long last, I was able to own this movie without having to pay outrageous prices. This movie has A LOT of government meetings. I'm gonna need several rewatches just to keep track and know who is who here. That said, the Godzilla action is top notch. When Gojira used his mouth breath for the first time... Wellman, RSG3 and intimigator 3 Quote

Hecatom Posted December 5, 2025 Posted December 5, 2025 I watched a movie yesterday with my brother on Netflix. Ballad of a small player, with Collin Farrel. We decided to watch it due the trailer looking with interesting cinematography and photography. The thing is that before watching it we saw that had a mid reception, landing with a bellow 6 review score, like 5.7 to 5.9 at most out of 10. After watching it, I dont know why people scored it so low. Just on a technical level the movie is excellent. The acting is really good, the OST is great and the story is good as well. The only explanations I could think of why it was received with so average/mediocre score is because is a slow paced movie, or because the fans of the novel thought it wasnt a good adaptation.
