Somewhere out there, some asshole has probably named their child "Covid".  You could bet money it's probably happened at least a few times by now.

 

Meanwhile, at work--- sure would be nice to get back to a normal time when I can take vacation time easily again.  This holiday weekend is a refreshing thing for me; I haven't had any significant time off since... probably July or August...and even that was just 1 or 2 days off back then.  The way things are now, it has destroyed my desire to do overtime; previously I would work every bit of that shit I could since it added up so nicely.  These days, thanks to how the pandemic threw everything into chaos... I'm instantly out of there at the log-out time....and likely in Dreamland a short time later.

Why does she need to get something in the end?  Why does every game need to have a happy ending?  Not getting the ending you wanted for a character doesn't mean something is poorly written.  This is what I'm saying -- people are butthurt because they aren't getting the outcomes THEY wanted, but that doesn't necessarily mean the game or its story is trash.

I got into DC with new 52 -- and it was pretty great!  I was reading multiple titles and having a good time...and then what happened?  All the boomers bitched that things weren't the same as before and the mess that was Rebirth happened.  They actually DID bring in new readers like me, and then shit on them by returning to the status quo.   The company-wide reboot essentially meant nothing and they rolled it back to the same shit they had before, because hardcore 'fans' were upset.

 

I liked All-New X-Men, I liked lady Thor, and I liked the new Ms. Marvel.  Miles Morales and Ms. Marvel being put in the Avengers for all of 10 minutes was pretty neat.  But guess what?  Over time things just slowly went back to the way things always were.

 

I bailed on both DC and Marvel after getting pretty into them because I could see they would never do anything interesting.  They got me in, and lost me once the old fans got their way again.

 

Both DC and Marvel actually got new readers -- but then they rolled back their shit because the hardcore fans were butthurt, and then they lost those new readers.

 

Western comics suck because it's been the same characters and stories for DECADES.  Can't add anything, can't change anything, can't rehash.  No matter what the writers do their fans hate them.  With 'fans' like that maybe it's just better to dump them all and start over with new readers.

 

People are just too attached to their favorite games/movies/anime and can't accept that sometimes things will go in a direction that they don't like.

Re comics: Hickmans current X-Men relaunch got me paying attention to the x-men for the first time in over a decade. 
 

Immortal Hulk finally got me to realize what a cool and wonderful character The Hulk can be. 

 

I loved Jane Foster Thor

 

the recent venom run has been great. 
 

a lot of the limited runs like Black Bolt, The Shield, Vision, etc are also phenomenal. 
 

Michael Bendis whether you love him or hate him gave us awesome characters like Jessica Jones and Miles Morales. 
 

the newest Nova is really cool. Kamala Khan is awesome. There’s a lot of good stuff going on in Marvel. 
 

with DC I can’t really say. I’ve never really paid attention to them, tbh.
 

Their new 52 run of Justice League Dark was good tho. A lot of the new DC 52 was really good actually. So was stuff before it like flash point. They still have Hellblazer. When it was still a thing Vertigo put out dozens of amazing titles. 
 

oh, their comic continuation of Batman the Animated series is really great. 

 

Wonder Woman: Dead Earth has been phenomenal so far. 
 

Western comics are still very popular and very engaging but only a small handful come from the big two. You gotta look at Image/Skybound, Boom, IDW, Darkhorse, Valiant, etc.

I am completely upset as to how I've been treated here. My first post was my first thread, and it gets locked. My avatar keeps changing as well as my profile banner. I get no responses on various topics/questions I open up here. WTH is the matter with all of you here?

 

I thought this was going to be the successor of SRK, instead I feel there are cuffs. It appears there is posting procedure in where we have to be mundane, limited, and just can't express ourselves the way men do. I dont understand why people are preferring such suppression, it's like a man preferring to wear condoms during sex.

Ok, that may be a legit cause for concern and I kinda feel bad.

 

What topics are these? I haven't been keeping track of stuff here for a bit, but if they're legit topics, they should have at least some traffic in them.

 

Edit: Apparently, the only noteworthy post you made that wasn't mindless Cisco drivel was the one asking if people shave their asses and that your ass hair is long enough for you to twirl it.

Often, it's not what happens in a story but how it happens. Game of Thrones, before it went off the rails, routinely killed popular characters and didn't give happy endings and it was HBO's most popular show. Conversely season 8 of Game of Thrones was a shit show, not because the events but how the events were told. They crammed three seasons of story into a season with half the episodes and it showed. There was no time for nuance, not time to properly build up events so that character actions seemed reasonable.

 

I don't have the attachment to the characters of TLOU. And purely from story standpoint, that's the only way I can judge it. I found the story have terrible pacing and be poorly told.  Characters that have no compunction about murdering other characters suddenly decide to let people walk. I can think of two major points of this happening with two different characters and in both cases them sparing the other makes zero sense. It completely lacks subtlety and is incredibly hamfisted. It doesn't excuse the juvenile hatred against the game, that said it also doesn't justify people with legitimate criticisms being hand waived away.

 

Too much back and forth about this game was simply people telling each other they were wrong without explaining why they thought so. Honestly, it's indicative of modern society as a whole. No one discusses anything, they just yell past each other and go back to their respective echo chambers.

I've given that show "Van Helsing" yet another chance... I think it's finally managing to keep my interest as I get deeper into it; I'm still in the first season... but I still wish the vamps were better than what they are.  It still looks like a bit similar to The Strain, where the common vamps are pretty much trash-tier, and the high-ranks are the only ones worth a damn.  There's also a little bit of Walking Dead mixed in here, as the world has fallen into ruin as a result of vampires running wild like Hulkamania out there.  The star of the show is Kelly Overton, who is quite nice on the eyes... she was also a werewolf on Tru Blood.

 

On another note---I bought Snapple Apple today... there was a time when I absolutely loved this... but it is definitely surpassed by "Simply Apple" now.  I've seen a commercial for Simply brand Almond Milk recently, but I haven't seen it anywhere yet, unfortunately.  I have high expectations, because that particular brand is always knocking it out of the park, imo.

90g milk 8g salt 3g sugar

0,5g ground cardamom 0,1g ground nutmeg

3 eggs (3x60g)

10 drops (1g) of red food coloring


Communist Tomato Sauce (for about 2 servings of pasta)
100g butter
1 onion, minced
1 Tbsp flour
1 Tbsp tomato paste
1/4 tsp salt
1/2 tsp sugar
1/2 cup ketchup

I remember most anime conventions staff having serious debates about wherever to ban Ahegao apparel or not.
But after seeing the reaction most people have for the Ahegao hoodies (as most people just keep away from the creeps wearing them), and checking with our lawyers, the con I work for decide not to ban it as it does not violate any actual laws or venue rules. As long as they don't later end up developing into a problem. 
Funniest reaction is from our 60 year old Tax lawyer, like he disappointed with the whole world, our IP lawyer was actually checking to see if the vender who selling them violated any copyright or not ( it came to their attention as two dealers were selling the same hoodies, and one accused the other of stealing his idea). 

Ahegao apparel is like the ultimate keep away from this unwashed perve weirdo. Wearing Ahegao is like birth control, as no one coming near you.

It's funnier they became a thing because most of the scenes they're from are futari/transexual type stuff. I don't give a fuck but I know dudes who found out and got all disturbed by it.

I had to google "Ahegao" and read the wiki. Says some Chinese company trademarked it and I'm just thinking "Since when has China played by any kind of copyright rule"?

I don't think they are that popular. Last time I seen them in public was the summer of 2019.
Lot of Cons got canceled since the pandemic started, so the only spread was word of mouth and internet.

 

The Con I worked for is in the summer typically late July into August, so you are not going to see too many people wearing the Hoodie outdoors.

Hmm, maybe. I mean I'd probably never buy it in the first place outside of being ironic. To be fair it doesn't show anything explicit. As far as kids know it's just a weird sweater with a bunch of funny female faces on it. 🤷🏾‍♂️

 

Last year we had a kid coming into school that would actually wear one of those almost every day. I never said anything cause it was honestly just astounding to me that not one single parent or staff member had the brain cells to look at it and immidietley know what it is.

The couch and loveseat in my living room were literally falling apart.  So near the start of CoVid, I told my wife "It doesn't make sense for us to drag the kids out shopping in the pandemic, so you should just pick something out yourself."  Because of pandemic delays, the sectional she chose just months ago just got delivered today.

 

We live in a small ranch home.  My living room is now 90% couch.  I'm not sure that  constitutes a problem, but it's definitely something.
