Its kinda disapoint like why? but somewhow I think what could they do to TOP the last Samho? What do you think next Samsho FG game should play? And What are the misstep of the last Samsho Fighter did? People got excited about the old SamSho rpg finally getting translated so who knows, it could do well. I'd just hate if it does and then we get a bunch of rpgs instead of fighting games. But SamSho seems to be a test case for things that end up being improved or iterated on in other games for SNK. Personally I'd like the next SamSho fighting game to be a bit deeper. 7 is good but I think they leaned a little too far into the "simple game you don't have to lab too much" thing because imo there doesn't feel like a whole lot to learn with most characters. SamSho 4 & 5sp are incredibly deep games even thought they're pretty simple to pick up. I think the frame data is a bit too limiting in 7 and that's part of the problem. On a system level, I hate the way Issen works. It absolutely kills the momentum of a match once someone uses rage explosion and makes everything grind to a halt because of how powerful it can be, and its damage output isn't reliable. Guard break is something I didn't like initially and still don't think belongs in a SamSho game but I've warmed up to it a bit. Other than that, it's a fine game and a good introduction to the series for new players I think. Edited October 16, 2024 by DoctaMario Shakunetsu 1 Quote
Shakunetsu Posted October 17, 2024 Posted October 17, 2024 (edited) Thanks man I feel the era of consequences and commitment in fg in mechanics are going more less and less valuable in modern FGs. Samsho is unique in that aspect thats very much import I feel that the guard break thing isnt fitting in the game I wonder how could they top the latest in terms of a Fighter. Rather than turning into another Soul Calibur alike like they did before the later iteration. Edited October 17, 2024 by Shakunetsu DoctaMario 1 Quote

They could bring back the Slash/Bust system or even do something like MK11 did with custom characters but less convoluted (although I'm sure that would be absolutely busted at least initially.) I suppose they could even do a combo platter with a Last Blade type parry system although I'd prefer that stayed in that game, though I think LB is one of the better examples of a parry game. RE consequences, fg devs have been giving players tools to mitigate consequences and bad decisions for a long time. SamSho even has something like this in terms of Rage Explosion, although that does come with its own consequences so it's not quite the same. Shakunetsu and Reticently 2 Quote
