The MEGASHOCK Saloon Thread 3: Chinder Chagger Edition

Recommended Posts

Someone on Twitter posted pictures from 1918 of the last native people of Tierra del Fuego. It seems it's what they used to wear for rituals and religious ceremonies, maybe it's the black and white but it striked me because it looks like designs you'd see in a horror movie/game.

Unfortunately the only horror part here is these peoples were basically hunted down by the Chilean and Argentinian government in the late 19th century and early 20th.

I'm putting it under spoilers because, even though it's black and white and they also have body paint, they still got their ding dongs out in these pictures, so you're warned.

Spoiler

All of this drama is because Elon has been playing the long game, in order to force twitter to sell, and to sell cheaply.

Elon knows that they are smoke and mirrors hence why he asked for the users number data, and how many bots plague the platform (We are talking about bots that "engage" by posting shit to inflate engagement)

His offer was a way out for many investors, since twitter has never really made money, only seeing growth in returns and useres once Elos offered to buy the platform, and now that he is retracting, the stock price is going down.

They are desperate, hence why they want to sue, but suing him only helps him, since it force them to reveal the data that they have not wanted to reveal to him, since him knowing the actual data will likely diminish the value they could ask for it.

haha that Kate Bush "Running up that Hill" song is up to 95 million views at this point on youtube...the official video at least.  Yeah, like most others who watched the show that song has been on an endless loop in my mind as well.  I still can't get enough of it yet.

The other big resurgence is Master of Puppets, but I was already familiar with and loved that song and had it in my collection anyway.

The dumbest people I've ever met graduated with honors degrees from top schools. Not subjectively stupid, like I don't agree with their views. I mean legitimately out of touch with the real world and common sense.

I wouldn't be surprised though if he said those things about Castro as a publicity stunt. Rage's whole brand is built around critique of late capitalism while charging $100 for tickets. Nothing is real 😃

The actor apparently learned to play some of Master of Puppets for Stranger Things so I gotta give props

Glorifying literal dictatorships to own American capitalism is unfortunately a rather pervasive take across the dumb parts left everywhere in the West, and unfortunately even otherwise reasonable people fall for it.

But one thing is Castro and romanticizing the Cuban revolution and Che Guevara, I know of some online tankies who don't just fangirl for China but fucking Putin as well, just to stick it to America. Now that's going off the deep end.

I agree. I will say though, I think the really stupid parts of left leaning populations are minuscule compared to the right. I think during the whole (ongoing) time of maga showcased that, not to mention what's going on after Roe v Wade.

That is the ultimate cringe coping mechanism. Supporting a despot with even more extreme beliefs than what you will find from most US politicians in power, to own the establishment. Wtf.

If it's a publicity stunt, it's one that's been going on for 30 years now

You know who else has an Ivy League education? This  senator and "educator".

More of a "brand" at this point than a stunt.  Like the country music musicians who are privately liberals but you'll never know it from their public personas.

ha, the country music stars that are secretly libs... reminded me of when the Dixie Chicks foolishly pissed off about 90% of their fanbase back then...shit was hilarious 🤣

On another note----this guy finally did a video about the vamps in Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter....oh yeah they were some good ones, imo:

Interesting; I didn't know Tim Burton is credited at a producer on this.

One especially cool thing about the vamps in this one is their ability to become invisible, and how they used it in battle.

I don't think The Chicks are really libs and just float closer to somewhere in the middle which is the impression I got.  But you can't float somewhere in the middle these days cause people don't like having nuance to a conversation.

Eh, with country the politics isn't a central part of most acts like it is for Rage; like RATM can't start doing love songs or anything.  Most of the country acts that voice political opinions publicly are left leaning anyway, it's not the 90s anymore. David Allan Coe is probably the only country act I can think of where politics is a pretty central part of what he does and if he stopped doing it, it would change his whole act.

They're definitely liberal especially given some of the songs they've put out

Gonna be honest, I think most latinos here in latin america wouldn't feel offended by it,and some will probably will have a chuckle from it.

But she is not in latin america, that kind of joke wouldn't fly on usa with the current political climate, even if is a tame and lame one.

People are too fucking sensitive. Offensive jokes have always been and always will be the funniest jokes. Well, those and dad jokes.

I was at a birthday party this last weekend and there were a couple kids there. My friends called me into the kitchen where a group of people are standing and they asked me to tell these kids some dad jokes.

I was like: "A black guy, a Mexican, and a Jew-"

My friends: "CHAD NO!"

Me: "What? You asked for a dad joke, right? My dad told me that joke!"

Then I got in trouble for making their Alexa fart on volume 10 😕

Twitter told him that only 5% of account were bots. That's when he started backing out. That number is clearly below reality. From my recollection, Elon claims to have based his offer on the number of accounts. So a good portion of them being phony means to him that he isn't getting what he paid for.

i was so happy when they spoke out against the occupation of Iraq. Cause they were 100% right. Our country was running rampant with racism and xenophobia for all the wrong reasons.

the way our country was acting at the time was fucking disgusting and I was so happy when so much of the music industry spoke out about it.

Bush and his cabinet pushed an illegal military campaign for war profiteers, arms dealers and oil tycoons.

This is random, but was Jordan Peterson any good before that wild coma thing he did for Benzo rehab that may have given him brain damage?

I've been laughing at this dude over this latest controversy with Elliot Page, but I don't know the full story there.

My prior exposure to Jordan Peterson has been him crushing people in debates. I guess the only way he could catch an L was to get memed.

Facts. Anytime Peterson meets any sort of push back he crumbles and turns into a generic angry old white man.

I've only seen him in long form debates. Which frankly holds more weight with me than online 280 character interactions. Twitter isn't exactly a place for real discussions on anything.

A federal judge in California ruled on July 11 that Subway can be sued for misleading customers when claiming its tuna products are '100% tuna.'

The sandwich chain was originally sued in January 2021 by Nilima Amin, an Oakland-area resident who believes Subway’s tuna products 'partially or wholly lack tuna as an ingredient' and claims they 'contain other fish species, animal products, or miscellaneous products aside from tuna.' Amin’s claims are based on findings from tests completed at the UCLA marine biology laboratory by biologist Paul Barber.

Subway defended itself by insisting that any non-tuna product found in its tuna is the result of cross-contamination during sandwich preparation. However, U.S. District Judge Jon Tigar said that the sandwich chain can be sued even if its claims of cross-contamination are true.

'Although it is possible that Subway’s explanations are the correct ones, it is also possible that these allegations refer to ingredients that a reasonable consumer would not reasonably expect to find in a tuna product,' stated Tigar. The judge expects that Amin will soon file an amended complaint.

In a statement to TODAY, Subway spokesperson Carsen Anderson insisted Subway serves 100% tuna. 'We are disappointed the Court felt it couldn’t dismiss the plaintiffs’ reckless and improper lawsuit at this stage,' Anderson said. 'However, we are confident that Subway will prevail when the Court has an opportunity to consider all the evidence.'

This week in fgc drama.

punk crying about frame data is ruining fighting games. and here comes papa harada bitching again, because he got bullied into giving out frame data before t7 originally didnt have it when it was a industry standard for a while.

To be honest on this, it doesn't matter if Punk or anyone else thinks that frame data is ruining fighting games because inevitably SOMEONE is going count frames and that person is going to put their findings up on the internet.  Putting the frame data up in the game just streamlines the process so everyone has access to the same information because if you didn't, the conversation be about people who know and have access to that data versus people who don't.

Honestly I listen to very little country, so that's all probably fair.  But country music fans haven't changed that much, so I'd bet coming out for socialism would be enough to really curtail the audience.  They'd probably end up having to rebrand as Americana.

Agreed. People count frames on character reveal trailers now. The data is going to get out there. Hell before Capcom added it to the CFN. There were apps with SFV frame data. Having Harada co-sign your position on frame data is not a good thing.
