Once upon a time in the USA, the way it actually worked was that the runner up in the Presidential election automatically became Vice President.  It was a total clusterfuck, because then the Vice President would spend the next 4 years trying to undercut everything the President did.

 

Plus the way Vance actually goes all-in on paste-huffing shit that sounds like a straight up satire of what a sane person would actually want is disconcerting enough to want to disqualify him.

It's no surprise that when no matter how much money, power, or land people have, "wants" like that aren't fulfilling as they've thought it was, equivalent to even their own personal "needs" never being enough. I know what I've always needed in life, but I know I'll never get it.

Mate most of the time I'm not even ok with the intended recipient reading my messages. I'm actually in the process of reverting to carrier pigeons that implode when they arrive.

I remember thinking that it would probably be preferable if Harris and Trump got raptured away to somewhere and Walz and Vance were the new top of the ticket. Harris and Trump are like cartoon characters, and while I'm a little suspect of establishment politicians, the fact that the two of them could actually talk to each other and say "Yeah I agree with you on that" more than once means that something might get some without them constantly trying to flex on each other. I wound up liking them both more than I thought I would.

Maybe, but even without Trump being involved American politics is usually a story of any sort of reasonable compromise being politically disadvantageous to both parties. 

 

Vance has a political track record of not coming across the Senate aisle for anything, and while I don't know a ton about Minnesota politics I don't expect Walz to be massively different in that regard.

I was watching this Ellen DeGeneres standup the other night and she talked about how much she loves animals but is hella disappointed in how pigeons have turned out. They went from getting medals for delivering messages in times of war to eating trash in alleyways in modern cities 🤣

Flint Dille is a  G1 cartoon writer/story editor and Consultant on the 1986 movie.

While Ron Friedman is credited as the writer of that movie, Flint  came up with the Quintesson origin and a lot of connective tissue of the film.

It doesn't matter. Yeah, admittedly his lifestyle is pretty lavish, but using that as justification to put down the strike so Americans can continue to gorge themselves on cheap foreign made good and food that's come from other countries for pennies on the dollar of what it would likely cost here is missing the point. As if these guys should just accept wages that don't keep up with cost of living and inflation for back breaking work & the eventual sundowning of their jobs because of automation because the union boss makes a little too much.

and i noticed under the sneaker's pic theres an option to look at the sneaker in full 3d.

clicked it n sure enuff it lets u look at the shoes in full 3d 360 degree  fluid animations.  from any angle. even above n below.

I think people think about union bosses as if they're preachers/evangelists when they're really politicians in their own right. Which isn't to say that dudes lifestyle isn't suspect, but it's immaterial to the work he's doing and why it's important.

The lower you keep compensation for union management, the more susceptible they are to bribery and corruption.

 

Like, I don't know the story with the dude in question, so maybe he is corrupt.  That house is a lot.  But this idea that people on the labor side of the equation need to take a vow of poverty is a cancer.  Is self interest somehow only capitalism when management does it?

I saw "Do Not Comply" trending in my feed and wondered what that was about.  Apparently Pete Buttigieg is asking people to not fly their drones or even their own helicopters into the zones where rescue people are because it will interfere with the help already in the areas  (if things are flying it's going to get in the way of helicopters) and pretty much a ton of blue check marks are telling the government to go fuck themselves.

 

Well...here's hoping that someone's hard headedness doesn't end up messing something up.

yeah this is the frustration I've had about "Near Dark" for several years now.  It is on NONE of the major streaming services, and I don't think it ever has been on there....and even when physical media was still holding on in recent years....nope it was not easily found unless you paid some ridiculous amount on Amazon, from what I saw.  

 

Crazy thing is that even with the resurgence of popularity of vampires in movies and tv shows about 15-ish years ago, with Twilight(gross), the rise of Vampire Diaries and its spinoffs and Tru Blood-----STILL, "Near Dark" was nowhere to be found....and it seems like none of the shitheads in Hollywood are even interested in doing the usual reboot....though that presents other problems considering how shitty the typical reboot/remake tends to be in the first place.  I gave up hope on it a long time ago.  The recent popularity of vampires in media didn't do anything for it----nor did Kathryn Bigelowe's career poppin' off do anything for it....there is no hope.  I'll just have to eventually pirate the damn thing one day.

 

...still boggles the mind how some people that supposedly are passionate about film... like John Campea and probably most others at this point....are so much in favor of the all-digital future.  This is the downside of the shit... things that are more than even a few years old and slightly obscure just end up gone and forgotten FOREVER, with literally no legitimate way to see it ever again.  Absolute nonsense horseshit that will forever piss me off.  If you didn't see it way back in the day when it was new, and then a little later when HBO and probably Cinemax (I remember seeing it on HBO) used to show it regularly way back in the pre-internet days, then tough luck, apparently.

Every time I hear a new revelation about something McMahon has done or said, I look back on the Evil Mr. McMahon "character" he played on TV and it makes sense to me that he was so good at it because he probably wasn't acting.
