So r/place just ended on reddit and didn't think I'd get as involved into it as I did. Super fucking chaotic but really satisfying seeing all your efforts come to fruition with a bunch of like minded individuals.

Individual timelapses of some of the areas with really great stories behind it all. You can play at slow speed during the moments where action happens. 

 

NijiEast got absolutely fucking smashed over and over again. Russian streamer comes in with bots and bulldozes the entire damn thing (the dumb prison bars), had to wait till he fuked off with his bots before we could retake it and even managed an expansion (the blue kobo artwork).

 

24hours later it gets completely ganked by 2 russian streamers that just comes in and white everything. Epic god damn battle over 1-2hours with about 300 of us in discord against their 10-14k+ viewers who were all probably botting too. We held our ground and eventually forced him off our territory when he decided to compromise for the smaller meatboy. Notice how that big girl portrati keeps trying to expand into our squares but we keep pushing her shit back. 

 

A rogue faction in the group then finally waits till he stops streaming and invades his shit to go build a migo, madlads lmao. Too bad we couldn't defend her in the closing moments and she gets overtaken by a streamer with their big fat N. F, RIP migo. At 1:46 you can another attack but this time combined with a false flagging operation as they to make it look like Kobo is invade Migo from the left while they also hit from the right, too bad we actually owned both so it was obvious af lmao

 

 

In the Main logo area, one of the first things people will probably notice is the Suisex lol. This was under constant battle but a rogue memer faction (r/ OkBuddyHololive) defended Suisex till the very end in overhwelming success. Suisei was never winning this fight lol 

It was suppose to be suisex and suipiss but they couldn't get the extra space from belgium so settled on a Koron  on that empty space there instead lol

 

Multiple big early invasions from amonguscock (yes u read that right, people were growing a big fucking red cock across the whole canvas lmao). We stonedwalled it most times though (11s, 18s, 20s, 28s) but it did manage to fully pierce through once. First taste of heightened alert status due to it being so early into things, watching it growing and heading straight for us at lighting speed lol. 

 

Then xqc with his 140k+ viewer base just goes on a damn purple rampage everywhere across the canvas before setting sights to hololive. Boy did we get absolutely fucking assblasted with purple. He gave up shortly after when he realised how stubborn we were and how long it take him to completely maintain 100% purple. We'd defended but not without heavy damage and then came the rebuild process where a bunch of funny shit happened like the fight for upper case or lower case h lol

 

This area was then relatively peaceful from then onwards. 

 

Council above the hololive logo was at real risk of getting bulldozed by belgium since it got by built by a rouge factions not part of the main organising discord while Europe was asleep. I think their only save grace was when beer started getting spilt over them lmao. Eventually fauna gets repositioned and starts sprouting flowers which then gets redesigned to Iris's which I thought was neat since triple meaning for Fauna/flower, Iris/Irys and for being the flag of Brussels. 

 

You'll notice at about 28 seconds everything starts getting cleaned up on the flags when German and Belgium finally woke up. Even the Twice logo on the intersection of the flags, which got permission (provided they change their background to the flag colours) just gets instantly wiped out at 40 seconds lol

 

The Germans got pissed because it was in the way of their eagle drinking beer with their Belgium brothers which they had erased and drew their logo on top overnight while they were sleeping. There was a modified design to build the beer around the logo, but they got fed up after awhile so just wiped their shit clean. Germany and Belg don't fuk around. Really glad we had a good alliance with em, they had massive borders and kept our shit super safe. 

 

Some other smaller details in this area.

- At about 22secs under the Asacoco tail, you can see our first attempts at a delutaya triangle in red get completely coopted by the hivemind into a haachama heart lmao, which was ironically fitting anyway.  But with some organisation we got our triangle up (this time redesigned in green) and you can see it constantly morph into various shapes throughout time lol

 

- Yagoo under shuba duck almost instantly crying from his very initial conception, this was not part of the design at all lmao. What made it extra funny was the area was initially unclaimed and Virginia Tech were trying to build there at the same time as us not knowing they had zero chance lol. 
 

Really happy to have helped added the YMD for yamada and the diamond for Iris too. around Shuba duck. 

 

- At 42secs onwards, you can see our multiple failed attempts at trying to put a kizuna ai headband in between NijiSanji and Hololive logo. Unfortunately the hivemind wouldn't let us overlap any of the logos. Super fucking depressing when we constantly failed over and over, since she had no representation yet and this was before any of the board expansions so we thought this was all the area we'd get lol Thank god the canvas expanded two times afterwards and on the 1st expansion with the Sad Yagoo we were able to a make chibi Kizuna and place her headband to cheer up yagoo lol 

 

At one point the sad yagoo went a little overboard with the crying and the koronesuki was getting thirsty af lmao (we still hadnt put the kizuna headband on yet, so I think it really did cheer him up afterwards when it was finished lol)

But he still remained sad til the very end lol

 

And then of course there's the usual random vandalism like giving yagoo a baguette close to the end lol

The Ironmouse and Nyanners near the yagoo was done as tribute to Iron Mouse when she helped rally our defenses during the xqc purple ass fucking and the mini void attack just before too. 

 

 

After xqc hit hololive he went directly to OSU, and she did the same shit there.  Big mistake though cause OSU never fuken dies lmao.

The Fubuki Burger and Suisei area was the last canvas expansion and things were starting to get hella chaotic by this point. The chibi PPT, Luna crown at the bottom of the burger and Uber sheep were last couple of hour additions before closing so super happy they got through in the end. I haven't found a timelapse of this section yet, but i'm really interested to see how it morphed over time.

 

Man, what a god damn riot these past 4 days have been. Super super fun experience but glad its over now. Who would've expected this alliance out of all things to even happen lol

I was watching a video where Kroni, Fauna Mumei and Gura where talking about how they prefer not to talk with strangers like the people who deliver food, and how it very likely gives them some form of social anxiety/phobia.

 

 

Yet you see them on their streams and they seem that will be more confident when carrying themselves on social interactions, given how they seem to be able to handle performing for thousands of people, and that got me thinking;

 

That 1, no wonder many people take social media and online interaction so seriously, since is an outlet for them to interact with other people without having to deal with said social anxiety and phobia.

 

But also, that while I was like that when I was a teenager, having troubles speaking to lets say, my cab driver, but I managed to overcome it, becoming what I jokingly refer to as the most social anti social you will ever know.

Dunno if is because due the culture here in latin america, and specially in my families (mother and father sides), where due how large my family is, I was always socializing with all kind of people, since I have a looooooooooot of cousins (fraternal, 2nd degree, etc) for example, with a varied range of personalities and interests, so I learned how to deal different kind of people

I still don't mind retreating myself and don't interacting with anyone for hours, what you could say, isolate myself with my earphones and not speak to anyone, but at the same time, I am perfectly fine striking casual conversations with strangers, stablishing friendly relationships and even long lasting friendships with most people around me, talk in public to large crowds, etc,  to the point that people think i am joking/lying when I say that technically I am an introvert.

 

In my case, is not that it gives me anxiety or fear, but rather that at times it can be tiresome, since due how I navigate social interactions, I am always analyzing people, voice tone, micro expressions, body language, etc, dunno what the term is, since the closest I can think of is social engineering, but is not with the negative intentions that the term usually implies, so I am usually getting a lot of info and processing it, so at times, I just want to disconnect to have a break.

Specially because I like to keep peace around me, so I end being, the funny guy to keep an affable atmosphere around and  the one people rely on, to keep it.

 

 

Also, to me is kind of fascinating, and their story actually reminds me of an intern I had under my tutelage, she was super shy, and had problems interacting with people, and iirc, she was afraid of me at the beginning, iirc she went to a only women school, and then on college she had her friends, but they were the stereotypical introvert nerds you assume that computer science students would be (which btw, funny enough, my friends of college were the opposite the same as me, lol), so it was her interactions with people on the office make her break from that.

 

She went from being all meek, stroking her hair in fear when talking to me to speak to me like if was like her older brother (since i have never been much of having my subordinates be formal with me), joking and talking back in joking ways.

 

TDLR

 

While it is fun to see them on their streams, I will also like them to have more social interactions irl, so they could become more like their vtuber personas irl.

Also, what is the stance here about "normies", and how normie do you see yourself?, cuz thinking about it, I think I am just in the middle, extremely nerdy/geeky in my interests, but also highly sociable (but being almost 40yo, you would expect that by that time, someone will be able to handle him/herself in social interactions, lol)

That reminds me of Kiara. She has to try not to over-talk her collab partners and even though she's best known for her zatsudans, she maintains that she's an introvert IRL.

I'd say I can interact with strangers almost moderately well. I do everything I can to avoid it though since it tires me. Over the years, I've minmaxed my social interactions. I can talk the day away with close friends but I don't use voice chat anymore in online games unless it's with friends. I have a coworker I talk to about MCU but a new hire overheard us and chimed in and I just wanted to leave. I want to play D&D but I'm giving my DM friend a headache because I only want to play with other friends; no strangers. I will not play Among Us because it combines almost every part of socializing that wrecks me.
