Anime and Manga Thread: Isekai must Die edition

Urusei Yatsura, one of the grand daddies of romcom anime/harem, albeit a funny case where the main character is lustful and actively trying to build a harem but most of his potential love interests want no part of him due to being a out and out creep willing to do anything to score. I straight up had forgot that scene existed it was so long ago, at this point I only remember the movies and general premise.

From what I saw, I looked up and watched the whole episode, that seemed dead on. It was a super weird episode.  Or  maybe it was the norm for the show. The plot twist was just the tip of the iceberg.

I built these two today while catching up on Yom Kippur fasting because I forgot to take off this week. My fave Feddie and Zeke mechs!

I finally finished 08th MS Team, definitely a fun little series. I wouldn't mind that cast being who worked on my Gundam Hogan's Heroes idea.  Shiro's Heroes, that rhymes!

I finally caught up with the movie and man it was a treat to be in this world again. Makes me want to binge the whole series again.

Naruto: Sasuke’s Story, Naruto: Konoha’s Story Manga Launch

Naruto-Sasukes-Story-Konohas-Story.jpg?f

Two spin-off stories continuing from the conclusion of the Naruto manga debuted in English. Titled Naruto: Sasuke’s Story and Naruto: Konoha’s Story, the spin-offs check in with some of the series’ famed ninja and their adventures after the Fourth Great Ninja War. Both series have their first chapters readable for free on the Shonen Jump and the Manga Plus service [Thanks, ANN!].

Both manga are based on novels written by authors Jun Esaka and Sho Hinata, and published years after the manga’s 2014 conclusion. Sho Hinata’s Naruto: Konoha’s Story – The Steam Ninja Scrolls came out in 2016. Jun Esaka’s Naruto: Sasuke’s Story – The Uchiha and the Heavenly Stardust was published in 2019. The manga adaptations are being handled by Natsuo Sai and Shingo Kimura, respectively.

Naruto: Sasuke’s Story follows Sasuke Uchiha, Naruto’s teammate, eternal rival, sometime foe, and best friend. As an adult and agent of Konoha, Sasuke has infiltrated an astronomical observatory far from the Land of Fire. There he and Sakura begin an undercover investigation into a deadly conspiracy that could upend the the world balance of power.

Naruto: Konoha’s Story focuses on a newer, Mirai Sarutobi, who is the granddaughter of the Third Hokage. Taking place around the time of the Naruto manga’s last chapter, the series follows Mirai as she escorts two Konoha luminaries: Kakashi, the retired Sixth Hokage, and Might Guy. The pair are on an absolutely secret mission: Get some vacation time! With Naruto taking over as the Seventh Hokage and about to convene a Five Kage Summit, the two old veterans are finally taking some well-deserved relaxation time.

Both series are available in English, either from Viz Media’s Shonen Jump site, or Shueisha’s Manga Plus service. The prose novel edition of Naruto: Sasuke’s Story will go on sale from retailers on November 22, 2022.

I'm loving that Bleach is back in animated form... it takes me back to those good old days when this was the hot new thing, and I was eager to see each new episode as Ichigo and friends were running around in Soul Society..... and that was around 20 years ago(!!) now....how time flies... but yeah this final storyline from the manga was pretty awesome imo, so it's cool to finally see it in animation

I keep waiting for the animation quality to drop and it hasn't so far and i'm loving the expanded stuff. Captain Commander Bankai is going to be LIT when it's animated.

Naruto Global Character Popularity Poll Results Will Inspire New Manga

The Naruto and Boruto stage presentation at the ongoing Jump Festa 2023 event revealed a big announcement for the Naruto fan base: a popularity contest. A new global Naruto character poll will take in votes from across the world. The twist is that the results of the poll will inspire a new work of manga from series creator Masashi Kishimoto.

The formal name of the Naruto global character poll is “NARUTOP99,” and the official voting site is accessible at this link. Though character popularity polls are a common sight in manga, this is the first worldwide poll done for Naruto.

Check out a trailer for the contest below.

The Naruto global character poll voting is open now, and participants can vote once a day for any character they wish. The selection is extremely broad: Virtually every named character that has ever appeared in the Naruto manga is eligible for nomination, for a total of 488 candidates. There don’t seem to be any characters from Boruto‘s generation, though. Participants can vote once a day, as well. This suggests that the organizers intend to gather “points” for each character to help weight a ranking order when the tallies are in.

When the voting ends on December 31, 2022, Naruto creator Masashi Kishimoto will create a short one-shot manga chapter following the winner of the Naruto global character poll.

Naruto is published in English by Viz Media, and is readable in Shonen Jump. Its sequel, Boruto, is ongoing. A special gallery opened in Japan to celebrate the anime’s 20th anniversary.

New Tenchi Muyo GXP Anime Series Announced

Quote

A new anime in the Tenchi Muyo! franchise is in production. More specifically, it’s related to Tenchi Muyo GXP, according to the announcement from media company EXNOA. (EXNOA also helped produce Blue Reflection Ray.) The title is Tenchi Muyo GXP – Paradise Begins (Paradise Shidou-hen). It will be produced, in part, to celebrate the franchise’s 30th Anniversary. [Thanks, Famitsu!].

At the moment details on the new anime adaptation are scarce, but creator Masaki Kajishima drew the teaser below.

The series is being produced through EXNOA’s anime brand Kinematics, with Kajishima credited as a Supervising Director. The screenplays will be provided by Hideki Shirane, who worked on the original Tenchi Muyo GXP, Tenchi Muyo! War on Geminar, and the 4th and 5th seasons of the Tenchi Muyo anime.

For those unfamiliar, Tenchi Muyo GXP is a spin-off of the original Tenchi Muyo! series. (That is known as Tenchi Muyo! Ryo-Ohki in Japan.) Chronologically, its story runs in parallel to the original, but features a new cast, rather than the group led by protagonist Tenchi Masaki. GXP instead stars Japanese student Seina Yamada, who is almost killed by a spacecraft that crashes behind the Masaki residence. He meets the spaceship’s pilot, Amane Kaunaq, who gives him an application form. Mistaking the form for a contest entry, Seina’s forced by his family to fill it out, only to realize that it was an application to join the Galaxy Police.

The series aired in Japan in 2002 and followed Seina, Amane, and their companions as they struggle to carry out missions for the Galaxy Police. Tenchi Muyo GXP – Paradise Begins will pick up several years after GXP, with Seina grown up and assigned on a new mission to return to Earth.

Tenchi Muyo GXP – Paradise Begins is in production and does not yet have a release window.

^interesting... I was considering it earlier today, actually...browsing the tv/movie section at Target....yeah they had it priced at 30 bucks.

For many years I avoided buying it because Cartoon Network was repeating it over and over forever....to the point where I actually got tired of the show.

Anyone here up to date with the Berserk manga? I've lately been thinking of starting to read it and I'm interested in the final released chapters. I'd like to know what's the general gist of the story (without spoilers if possible) currently. I've watched the 90's Berserk show, so I know the gist of the story as a whole, but I want to know what the current arc is about. And is it anywhere near to the end, so Miura's successor would not have that much work to do once the series resumes, or is this going to take like 20 more years?

The anime cliffhanger at the end left me gasping for air, but I'm much more satisfied with letting the story end there, than in a much less satisfying cliffhanger, considering I imagine the last released chapter was not intentionally designed to be a satisfying ending point. At least the anime ends does have some finality to it, even though it's like, not even a fourth of the story.

And out of nowhere, out from the fucking shadows, an anime adaptation Tomo-chan wa Onnanoko

It took years for this to happen, but at least since the manga is already finished, perhaps this time around I could get an anime adaptation from start to end of one of the mangas I read.

Now, If only Amano Megumi could get the same treatment
