I live in the Bronx so waiting in line for consoles was always a risk. I worked at a Toys R Us when the PS4 launched. On a day when the store was open for 24 hours an old lady came into the store at 2AM to buy a PS4. As soon as she hit the parking lot she got robbed. About 5 hours later the old lady daughter comes storming into the store demanding a refund for the console getting stolen. The woman working the customer service desk question why she send her mother by herself at 2AM to buy a console. After she said that the customer jumped the counter and attacked her. That shit was wild.

Waiting in line for other game related wasn't much better. There were always unsavory types around these events lying in wait to see who are there by themselves. I'll rather deal with bots than any of that.

I remember working at Wal-Mart when the Dreamcast launched. People put them on Lay-A-Way for Christmas, they go back to get the console and someone had stolen it from the back. Shit was wild man.

Continuing my Tactics run from earlier in Dead Cells---yep that final boss killed me.  I had some ridiculous damage going on but it still wasn't enough...like it wasn't effecting him that much.  I switched to the "disengagement" passive since that would at least give me an invincible 5-second shield once I got inevitably hit, but there was just no way....even with me unlocking the holy cross weapon right before the fight (making it drop as a level IX S-rank weapon, doing 80k dps and 160k critical.  If I had at least 2 potion charges I probably would've won this.  I definitely need more runs with that exact setup I had.

...so yeah... 520 hours played... still not on 5C difficulty... but I'd say this is the closest I ever got to beating 4C.

funny thing is the "Hand of the King" boss is nothing compared to the true final boss.

*I like the Castlevanina Hector outfit I unlocked recently; this last run I had that as my look.

Oh yeah I got the Haunted Armor and the Death outfits unlocked too

I find Hand Of The King to be a big difficulty jump from the rest of the game. I've even gone into training mode to try and suss it out, but that boss is just tough. I thought you had to be on 5BC to fight the final boss? Isn't that what that door in the room beyond the fountain after HotK is?

Also how'd you unlock the Hector outfit? I have Simon, Maria, Dracula, Alucard, Death, and Sypha, and I guess Richter, but that last one doesn't pop up in the outfit lineup.

What kind of Tactics build are you using? I generally go for Brutality builds, but I have this Survival/Tactics build in Custom Mode that uses Death's Scythe, War Owl, and Lacerating Aura and between those three things, all I have to do is walk around and everything dies.

yeah that's the funny thing---I don't remember how I got the Hector outfit; probably an enemy drop...  *aha---yep apparently it drops from a Dread Wolf:

Yep, the true final boss is beyond the Hand of the King; that area behind him with a door that you can only open on 5C.

That last Tactics build I had was magic missiles + pyrotechnics and the 2 turrets; heavy and crossbomatic.  I'm most comfortable with the Tactics builds; it's how I originally started beating the game and going up the difficulty levels...with some Brutality wins here and there as well; I've used Survival builds the least of the 3.  Like it is in a lot of games...having some hard-hitting ranged damage options is so good it just seems cheap at times.

One of my favorite brutality weapons is the "Hattori's Katana"; the attacks just look so damn cool; the special thing about it is that you hold the attack and the character dashes forward... then you see a delayed effect of critical hit slashes on any enemies that were in your path....ha, I never get tired of that.

ah, I remember now in Dead Cells------there was one weapon I enjoyed getting for a Survival build, and last year I was playing quite a bit with this in the last year or so before my latest break from the game--- the Giantkiller sword; it's the one that does huge bonus damage to elites and bosses.  There is such an incredible satisfaction in how you can just destroy the health of bosses with that weapon, knocking huge chunks off constantly....and it fucks elite enemies up before they even get a chance to do anything, usually.

ah, and now I'm reminded of one thing that actually did piss me off about the game lately---- that newer area "The Bank".  I'm not sure how I got past this the first time, but just playing it now... there's a section near the end where you cannot use items... and it's just jumping/platforming... but with electrified chains everywhere....if you touch one of these electrified chains, you lose health AND get teleported to the start of the room, having to do that whole sequence again....this would only be mildly annoying if it weren't for the fact that I just got to a jump that seems to be literally impossible.  The gap I had to jump over was just too damn far for the character to even "barely make it" by catching the edge of the other platform....and of course, you have no choice but to be 100% perfect on this, or else you get sent back to the beginning and lose health each time....until you just have no more health and heal potions left and that's game over.

Dozens and dozens of people working on that game (Forespoken) and it had a super huge budget and it still ended up being shit.  Its really sad when a single indie dev can make a far superior game by himself with only a fraction of what they had to spend on that fuckin' game.

Still playing a lot of Returnal.  It says im suppose to defeat some bad guy.  I wonder if thats the first boss.  I fought him twice but he kicked my ass both times.  Wish I could hold 2 weapons though.  Like have a pistol sidearm and whatever other dope gun I can find laying about.

Im in a hard spot right now.  I have too much games and I cant choose one to play.  Like I sit here and try to pick one but I get frustrated or something and then just dont play anything.  I even got rid of like 3TB of games so I wouldnt have as much trouble picking a game.

I'm not a very creative person so games like that where I can build a level or just build shit arent so fun to me.

I started playing Bayonetta Origins yesterday and my lady was havin' a good time watching me play.  I may play that some time today after she wakes up.

I'll be a bit more clear about my dilemma.  I play games daily but they're usually rogue style games so I dont need to remember a story and I can play in short sessions.  Its really hard for me to pick a game that I have to follow a story and I have a lot of those and its eating away at me to play them...but there's too many.

When I was younger I thought this is what I wanted, so many games I wont ever have to worry about what I'm gonna play cause I have all the games.  It doesn't work like that though.  Not for me at least.

Dead Cells ---Ah, I just remembered that there is 1 possible way to do that jump... if you have the amulet that gives you an extra jump so you can triple-jump for a longer distance.  If that's intentional it's a bit shitty that the only apparent way to make that jump is with a particular item that grants you a 3rd jump....so unless my timing was just .02% of the perfection needed and it's actually impossible...it means you just can't get past there if you don't have the amulet, I guess.

Doc is still at it with the occasional Dead Cells vids, btw...though he also covers other games as well

Dead Cells--whoah I didn't know until now that the way you get the 5th boss cell was different....so if I went the route that takes me to the Giant the other day instead of trying to beat the game like normal...that's all I had to do....though of course the Giant can be a problem at times too....you need as much damage as possible to finish that fight quickly before it gets too crazy.  Still; I have more faith in consistently killing the Giant than the Hand of the King.

that part of "the bank" level u describe about the latforming around electric fields, it doesnt require any special amulet w extra jumps. your jumping to the wrong platform. that area gives u a gift which i think is a legendary weapon. something like that. but it is not about level progression.

meaning u can skip that room bro. after u succeed beating that "trial" room u never have to do it again.

i always skip that room. its unnecessary and just drains health for nothing worth it.

just be wary of mimics in the bank.

as for differences between brutality, tactics n survival builds..............brut and tactics stacking makes u a glass cannon, survival gives u tons of health/def.

its most sure to use survival if u want to beat the game easiest way. but if u stack brutality/tactics u cant get hit. especially tactics which gives u the lowest health numbers

if u guys have trouble with hand of the kng......just use wings of the crow. hotk has trouble attacking you if u are right over his head.

Metroid Prime Remastered is so good.  I can't believe that game is like 20 years old.  It was way ahead of it's time.  I can't imagine what MP4 will be like.

My only gripe with the game though is all the damn back tracking.  I like that they don't spoonfeed you exactly where to go, but they kind of do eventually with pointing out places on the map, but even in some cases you don't really know how to get there or may not have everything you even need to get there.

To go along with that gripe, and I actually remember this from playing it when it launched on GC, I simply cannot get a damn grasp of how to control the map view well.  Like I know what the buttons do and stuff, but nearly every time I open it up, I fuck something up and do something I don't want to do.  And I open it fairly often when having to do all this damn backtracking.

Oh and the lab part where you have to use the thermal visor is by far the worst part of the game.  And then you have to go immediately back through it lol.

I just got the plasma weapons upgrade last night so I think I'm pretty far into it.  It really is a damn masterpiece though.

I feel like a lot of my map issues would be resolved of the game let us swap the sticks in the map menu.  The way it's set up is not intuitive for me.
