Video Game Discussion Thread vol. 2

That new Raven character looks incredibly cool (*of course it helps that she's hot as hell)...with the stylish gunplay reminding me of that movie "Equilibrium"

I have started on the Gears of War E Day beta now; got some juicy exp starting with the "Breacher" class; I knew that would likely be more my style as it's the up close "shotgun in their face" class that's also designed to be on the "tanky" side to accommodate always being out there in the action. With that stim/Adrenaline power-up (*instantly heals you and provides significant damage resist for a while) the temporary damage resistance is crazy; I'm not sure how well that scales into the higher difficulties just yet though, this is very early game here, obviously. There's things to unlock with the character classes so it's only going to get even better as time goes on and I acquire more exp.

This addition of extra squads in the Horde experience is cool; you're on one squad and in the middle of the action you notice there's others out there helping to kill things and complete objectives. I'm loving it so far.

Well, I'm not sure how a certain friend got the appear offline thing to somehow work differently for him on XB. I was chatting with the guy recently....while it said "last online __ days ago."---while he was also playing a game. Normally, and for many years---when you "appear offline" it just shows "Offline" as your status instead of the "Last seen..." timestamp. It doesn't seem like MS has changed this recently---I know of another that uses it, and it still shows him as just "Offline" at all times though I know he's on....and I've used it myself and it shows that as well....it's just odd and hilarious to me at the moment that somehow he got a better version of that little feature than everyone else, since "last seen..." makes it truly look like you're offline for real.

It is surprising that so far... I haven't seen anyone make a "Thwomp from Super Mario" faceplate design for the Steam Machine; at least I'd probably try that for my own amusement.
