VirginDefiler
was watching a playthrough and the guy said "the way to get out of a maze...is to hug a wall n keep huggin it till u find the exit." which is true most times. but when he said that. i remembered the wors maze/dungeon ever made in games. final fantasy 12 great crystal. if u remember, that dungeon had no walls. every room looked exactly like the one u just left. every time u left a room the was a load screen which disoriented you. the map was no help since it showed nothing. n powerful monsters harrassing u in every room. when u first go in story mode. you wont get lost cuz most rooms are closed off. but if u go in there to beat the post game hunt trial boss. you gotta unlock every room. once you do. you gonna get lost with how big the great crystal dungeon is. i got lost for 2 months. could not find the exit. was ready to give up n delete n start over the entire game. nightmarish. i was so lost looking online for the escape was soooo confusing cuz of a lack of a map...it didnt help. by luck i eventually escaped. never went in ever again. 2nd hardest maze i ever encountered was phantasy star master system. the dungeons had no map. no internet to look anything up mapwise. i got lost in medusa dungeon for 3 hours straight trying to find her the boss. had to leave the dungeon to re-enter n research for her while penciling my own homemade makeshift map. as i searched. MillionX
hmm... Nurgle sounds like a pretty cool deal too though... so now my favorites would be a coin flip between Tzeentch and Nurgle Baldur's Gate 3--- my other main warlock "Julian" (tiefling; Dark Urge)---- and now with the conclusion of the situation with Auntie Ethel in Act 1, it appears I've finished everything major at least in this part of the game, so it is time for him to finally move on to the Act 2 area. Orochizoolander
On 9/29/2024 at 10:36 AM, Camacho said: I bought Iron Meat and finished my first playthrough. I'd put it a couple notches below Blazing Chrome, but above Super Cyborg. Some of the weapons feel a little weak and off vs the source material, and there are a lot of instances where play field and hazards blend a bit too much into the background. Boss patterns were pretty fun. Normal was overly generous with lives, which like Contra: OG on default settings, takes a lot of the thrill out of mastering challenging stages. I'll give it a few more spins, but nothing has really grabbed me hard on this first run. I'll just copy and paste what I said in the Iron Meat server: Game is incredible, the music and background animations especially are wayyy ahead of most other similar games absolutely scratched the Contra itch game is damn near a 10/10 a must play for anyone who likes 2D action. I do have 3 minor complaints though: -First and foremost game is way too short even for it's genre, I had a similar issue with Steel Assault, 10/10 game, but it's so short please tell me there's DLC levels and bosses planned -Second, the weapons are mostly just more generic versions of what we've been seeing in Contra for 30 years, I do appreciate the slight variations like tightening the spread of the spread shot so it doesn't invalidate a lot of the difficulty of the game, but I was a bit disappointed the weapons were more functional, they didn't stand out at all or have any flash to them. A proper run and gun should have memorable weapons that look cool and flashy equivalent to how badass they make you feel using them. -Third, I'm guessing it was a budget constraint, but several times vehicles have been teased, but not even a single vehicle level or section was present, it would have been both a great change of pace and the intense feeling of a speeder bike or some high speed aircraft would really punch up the whole game. As far as the Blazing Chrome comparison, I do agree BC is probably the better game, but only because Iron Meat is slightly lacking in creativity with the weapons. The art and music are way more memorable IMO, the meat aliens remind me a lot of the necromorphs from Dead Space. Oh and Kill Knight releases tomorrow, loved the open beta so I'm definitely getting it: Edited October 1 by Orochizoolander Sonichuman, MillionX and Hecatom 1 2 Quote Link to comment

Why did Krafton feel these games – Ghostwire: Tokyo, The Evil Within – help to justify the studio's acquisition? We primarily focused on Hi-Fi Rush. It was more of a strategic decision. It would've been great to get all the IPs but the team was working on Hi-Fi Rush 2 and the others were working on anniversary content for The Evil Within. Knowing Microsoft's direction with the IP sale, we didn't want to push too far with this acquisition, so we primarily had Hi-Fi Rush under discussion because it would complicate the process and elongate the entire negotiation process." "It's a difficult one. It is a tough question." All that "volume" could be connected by a flat, barely detailed landmass that old-school JRPGS called the world map, but giving Final Fantasy 9 the fancy remake treatment would probably mean those locations would need to be stitched together more realistically, thus inflating an already huge game. Hecatom
https://insider-gaming.com/star-wars-outlaws-sales-1-million/#:~:text=September 30%2C 2024-,Star Wars Outlaws Has Sold Just 1 Million Copies In,giving it pretty low scores. Quote Star Wars Outlaws was plagued with issues at launch, some of which led Ubisoft to make drastic tweaks. It wasn’t well received by the general market, and gamers worldwide have been giving it pretty low scores. It comes as no surprise to learn that in an entire month on the shelves, Star Wars Outlaws has sold just one million copies. It’s not as many sales as Ubisoft expected, which explains the recent comments about the game’s performance proving ‘softer than expected’. It’s also partly why Assassin’s Creed Shadows was considerably delayed, being pushed back from November 2024 to February 2024. Insider Gaming hasn’t been able to learn what the expected sales figure was for Star Wars Outlaws, but we have secured a current sales figure from sources close to the game. At the time of writing, Star Wars Outlaws has just ticked over one million sales worldwide. To put that into perspective, we reported in January 2024 that three months after Assassin’s Creed Mirage had hit the market, it had secured five million sales. 1 million copies with 4 years of dev time, marketing and...big time IP licensing fees. More dev time planned to "fix" it and you can count on heavy discounts likely before the end of the month. Concord will still win but this has to be a lock for #2 biggest financial bomb of the year all things consider. Quote Link to comment

purbeast
I'm probably like 10 hours into the new Zelda game and I gotta say I am really enjoying it. I just finished the large rift level after the first 2 dungeons. The whole echo thing though is a bit gimmicky when it comes to combat and stuff. The game is designed around that so you aren't doing it too often and you can just bypass many enemies when walking around Hyrule. There are a lot more puzzle elements though than a "standard" Zelda game, which has a lot of them too. My only complaint would be the framerate. It dips quite often for what seems like no reason. Like when you are just walking around Hyrule with not much going on, you will notice it dip slightly for a second. It's not game breaking by any means, just annoying. Overall though I am really enjoying it. RSG3, Sonichuman and Darc_Requiem 3 Quote Link to comment

Hecatom
https://www.eurogamer.pt/xbox-quer-saber-o-porque-de-estudios-evitarem-as-suas-consolas Xbox wants to know why studios avoid their consoles Quote Microsoft Gaming has unveiled an expansion to its Xbox Research initiative, through which it aims to get more and better feedback from video game developers on various subjects, with the aim of improving its tools and services. The aim is to listen to employees at Xbox ecosystem partners to connect them with their internal teams to talk about how to improve their future tools. Microsoft Gaming believes that by talking directly to game developers, they will get important information that will help solve the main problems they experience on their side. It's a forward-thinking initiative for the brand in supporting developers, focused on those who work on the video games we play, on a global scale and for production companies of any size. Microsoft is expanding the initiative to those who aren't even thinking about working on Xbox consoles, to find out why and what could help them change their minds. “If you're creating games, we're interested in hearing from you. If you're not on Xbox, we'd love to know why. And frankly, if you're using competitors' products, you probably have a great perspective that we can learn from.” The company suggests that it is paying attention to the feedback that has emerged over the last few months, in which several small studios have shared difficulties in launching some titles on Xbox, due to a lack of support and communication. Hecatom
https://www.pcgamer.com/gaming-industry/the-games-industry-is-undergoing-a-generational-change-says-epic-ceo-tim-sweeney-a-lot-of-games-are-released-with-high-budgets-and-theyre-not-selling/ The games industry is undergoing a 'generational change,' says Epic CEO Tim Sweeney: 'A lot of games are released with high budgets, and they're not selling' The world of videogames is changing, and the Epic chief believes the future is social. Quote Epic Games CEO Tim Sweeney said during his address at today's Unreal Fest in Seattle that while there's still uncertainty about what exactly the metaverse is, the continuing growth of Fornite—and the failure of a number of high-profile big-budget games to meet expectations—is proof that it represents the future of gaming. Fortnite hit "new records in concurrency," Sweeney said during his opening comments, achieving an all-time peak of 110 million active users over the previous holiday season—an accomplishment he said comes amidst a "generational change" in the games industry. "One of the manifestations [of that change] we're seeing right now is that a lot of games are released with high budgets, and they're not selling nearly as well as expected," Sweeney said. "Whereas other games are going incredibly strong. What we're seeing is a real trend where players are gravitating toward the really big games where they can play with more of their friends." The perceived value of a game, he continued, "grows in proportion to the number of your friends that you can connect to," for everything from playing games together to chatting by voice, watching virtual concerts, or "doing other kinds of cool, virtual things online." "Some people will call it the metaverse," Sweeney said, "And we're not all in agreement on what this means. Some people, when they hear the word 'metaverse,' they think of what Facebook is doing with VR and now AR. Some people use the metaverse to describe everything they don't like about the current Fortnite season." Regardless of what you think of the moment-to-moment state of Fortnite, though, "it's new, and it's exciting, and it's something that's never happened at this scale in the history of entertainment," Sweeney said. The evolving story and ongoing live content updates are obviously a huge part of that, but he attributed much of Fortnite's success to "all the world's brands participating and dropping in: Musicians reaching users, Disney and Star Wars and others all coming together to create a world class entertainment experience that's ever-evolving and live. That's really what we think the future of gaming is about." I'm among those who raise an eyebrow whenever the topic of the metaverse comes up, but I won't argue Sweeney's point. Seven years after Fortnite first launched it remains an absolute juggernaut, and the biggest brands in entertainment are still lining up to get in. On the other side of the coin, Sweeney's mention of a slump among some big-budget standalone releases seems on point: Suicide Squad, Final Fantasy 16, Starfield, and most pointedly Star Wars Outlaws have all been letdowns to some extent, even though they all carry the branding Sweeney is so enthusiastic about.
