Vhozite Posted September 11, 2025 Author Posted September 11, 2025 I FUCKING HATE RUST AND CORROSION Quote
Vhozite Posted September 11, 2025 Author Posted September 11, 2025 (edited) I was trying to extract the slide pin so I can grease it of course it just breaks off like every other half corroded thing I try to fix on this car. I get corrosion is a fact of life in the north east but this is like the 3rd time. Mind you I EXPECTED that and actually ordered a replacement bracket 5 DAYS before my pads arrived as a precaution. And of course it never even shipped…Amazon just emailed me saying it’s gonna be here a whole week late after sitting in a warehouse for 6 days. Whats crazy is that I was able to order a bracket and a whole new caliper last night from somewhere else and it’s gonna be here tomorrow lol. But now I gotta pay for a Lyft to get to work and class because corrosion is eating my car and this parts seller fucked me over. Vhozite Posted September 13, 2025 Author Posted September 13, 2025 (edited) So that day I caught a Lyft to class I left my keys in their car lol. They charge you $20 to get your shit back. Update: My new caliper and bracket arrived from American muscle (shouting them out bc I order tons of shit from them and it’s great 95% of the time) yesterday. Hilarious the bracket I ordered from Amazon arrived several hours later as I was wrapping up…or so I thought. Like a clown I didn't bleed my brakes after replacing the caliper so when I tried to drive to class today i had no brakes lol pedal to the floor was like 5 seconds to stop from 20mph. So I catch a ride to class and buy some parts from auto zone on the way home, including an 11mm wrench bc apparently the 3 sets of wrenches I have none have an 11mm and that’s the size of the bleeder (Fuck you Ford). I get home and get to work bleeding my brakes…I go to open the bleeder and these niggas (talking about how they were working on cars since they were 7 and getting “the beaver” since 12) didn’t give me my fucking wrench. So I drive to Autozone with basically 50% brake capacity, get my wrench, get home, and finish the job. Right now brakes are at like 85% capacity…either I gotta bleed them again or something else is wrong but I was pretty thorough the 2nd time. But I’ve spent prob 5 of the last 6 hours outside and the car is driveable…if you never drove it you wouldn’t know anything is different. I’ll do it another day. Also discovered my tire with a slow leak has not one but two nails in it…frankly I’m surprised it holds air as well as it does looking at them. Edited September 13, 2025 by Vhozite Quote
Darc_Requiem Posted September 19, 2025 Posted September 19, 2025 I need to replace the front air suspension struts in my Equus....it's over $5,000 for the parts. Yeah, not doing that. Already checked with other Equus owners and their is a much cheaper solution. Just need to buy the parts and find someone I can trust to install them. And just so you know I'm blowing smoke.... https://repairpal.com/estimator/hyundai/equus/suspension-shock-or-strut-replacement-cost Quote

Have you replaced them yet? I’ve been considering an Audi TTS for my next car and it’s similar with the adaptive suspension. It’ll eventually go bad and replacement is allegedly like 1k per corner. Most people end up going to fixed struts, but stuff like this is a big reason I avoid these fancy suspension systems even if they are really good in practice. Quote

I checked with other Equus owners. I ended up getting it done for $1100. There is another company you can get the struts from that won't beat you over the head. Quote
Vhozite Posted December 15, 2025 Author Posted December 15, 2025 Been telling myself I’m not gonna buy another Mustang but looking at the market $ for $ im having a hard time justifying anything else. Like just an example at some point the new twins became damn near $40k cars??? There is a 2025 lemonade yellow listing I’ve been looking at just over the state line it’s just a hair above $40k. Been wondering if maybe I could negotiate them down another $2k. End of the year, low sports car sales in the winter, etc. As much as I hate the screen heavy interior there is a lot of cool features. Different drive mode settings, track and 0-60 timers, tons of different gauge options. Again it’s not my ideal look but at least they deliver the things id want from them. Darc_Requiem 1 Quote
OPTIMUS124 Posted January 16 Posted January 16 Adding some stopping power to the R/T Old vs. New Always liked the burnt copper color on calipers. I'm glad it worked out well. Darc_Requiem, intimigator and Vhozite 3 Quote
