The NFL Thread 2024 Season - Week 6: Jets Say Sayonara To Saleh, D.C And Baltimore Battle For The Beltway

I missed the end of the game last night and didn't realize Love got hurt. Man, that looked pretty bad. His knee popped,  MCL maybe?  And his ankle was twisted and crushed.  Fuck,  man.  Hope it's only minor and he recovers soon,  but I'm expecting his season is over.

I really thought the Packers played well and could have taken the win, but Barkley decided that the Hall of Fame would be incomplete without him and turned into The Incredible BULK. Absolute monster.

Cmon it's the Panthers LOL

How bout dem Bears though?

The Bears should be fine, but I hope they really didn't think that CJ Stroud wasn't a outlier and was the new standard if you pair a rookie QB with some talent.

I am not saying he isn't going to get better but it will take time to get used to this type of competition.

Literally everyone at my job took an L this week. Here are all our favorite teams. As bonus, while none of us are Panther fans, we work in Charlotte. We are all transplants except  for our boss and he's not into football.

Cleveland Browns

Indianapolis Colts

New York Giants

New York Jets

Washington Redskins*

*Not using that bullshit moniker. They change to Redwolves and I'm in.

What do people think of:

1) Justin Fields starting for the Steelers? and

2) Rumours that Jameis might replace Watson after game 2?

I've wanted to see Fields play for a non-shitty organization for a long time.

Giving Watson $260 million guaranteed and then benching him for journeyman Jameis Winston might be the most Browns thing ever.

1)If Fields can keep the turnovers to a minimum Pittsburgh is a good place for him. Russell Wilson nearing the end of his career. So they'd rather have Justin take the reigns if possible. He most certainly has the most upside. He just needs to be consistent.

2)The situation around Watson is on the craziest falls from grace I've seen. Watson was one the best young QBs in the leauge. He had a good reputation. I live in Clemson/USC (South Carolina) country. I never heard anything shady about the dude. If something was going down the USC fans would have been quick to say something if only to toss it int he face of Clemson fans. Then this massage stuff comes out and everything comes off the rails. Dude clearly has issues but I figured his play on the field would get it swept under the rug but nope. Dude has been playing like he was in Space Jam and the Monstars stole his talent.

Very happy with the Vikings dogwalking the 9ers. But let's be real here. All I care about is how they do against the Packers. I want material to use against the WI students here.

Darnold has looked good so far man. That bomb he threw to Jefferson was one of the best passes I've ever seen.  It reminded me of a bomb that Randall Cunningham through to Fred Barnett back in the day. It's not quite that level but that pass was a thing of beauty.

Rams got blasted by the Cardinals. Oof.

It might be a long season. Puka's already out a month, and now Kupp is in a walking boot. Not to mention half the O-line is/was injured.

----------------------

In other news, Deshaun Watson probably quieted rumors of being replaced by Jameis Winston, at least for 1 more week. A win is a win.

---------------------

Justin Fields wins again! It's not pretty, but it's good seeing him in an organization that's not actively detrimental to him (looking at you, Matt Nagy!).

Speaking of Jefferson, he was helped off the pitch. I’m worried for him.

They're first by technicality, sure, but I'd still put them as a bottom-5 team in the conference.

Bigger news is that Pittsburgh is somehow leading the AFC North, the Chargers are (technically) leading the AFC West, and Seattle is leading the NFC West.

The AFC South is back to being the  NFL's tune-up games.

Wild first 2 weeks.

How 'bout those Rams!? Big upset over San Fran.

Steelers somehow 3-0, gotta love Justin Fields' revenge.

Somehow I keep thinking the Steelers are winning DESPITE Justin Fields. He's been good, but not particularly amazing

You have a point. I will point out that once the Steelers get a 10-point lead, they seem to just rely on their defense to win for them. Totally take their foot off the gas.

I love when everyone picks against my team and we win 🤣

It is pretty funny. And Cincy might go 0-4.

Secondary is still atrocious though.

As a Bears fan, I have no issue with telling Favre to fuck off

As a non-Bears fan, I think you've probably earned the right to be bitter about everything post 1985.

If it is true he and his family have my sympathy.

But Farve has been recently shown to be a scum bag, so using an illness like this to try and avoid major consequences of gain sympathy is something I can see him doing.

And the man was my favorite QB for decades.

Stealing from the poorest people in the country to fund upgrades to you daughter's college when you actually have the money to pay for it yourself is beyond low. Then he has the unmitigated gall to talk about getting ripped off financially like didn't just take Mississippi's poor for millions? Fuck Brett Farve.

That's fair!

The team has been impressive. What's also has been impressive is the fans. I was surprised how fast the fans came back after "He who shall not be named" sold the team. The schedule said this was an away game, the crowd said it was a home game. For Skins fans to travel all the way to Arizona, that's prime fandom behavior.

Man, I hope we get some good draft picks out of this.

Sorry man, the only positive for me, is that our Orkin man is a Dolphins fan. He usually comes and talks shit to everyone. He's was quiet on his last visit. Rather have him annoy us and Tua be okay though. I worry about that dude. He reminds me of Jordan Reed. Albiet he was TE and not a QB.
