The Return of.. Terribly Unpopular Opinions.

Villains are always more interesting than the heroes even when they're not fleshed out as well. The Joker movie made him an almost sympathetic character because rather than portraying him as a psychopath who killed just because, it showed his motivations.

Same thing with Dracula in the Castlevania series. SotN gave him a motivation that made him sympathetic and just like the show, you could understand why he was doing what he was doing even if you couldn't cosign it. I think the show has been all the worse for not having him in it right now. I keep hoping he'll come back and just wreck everybody lol

I was actually scared to go to the cinema when Joker dropped because I was afraid I'd get fucking shot by some white guy whose actual biggest problem was how far the nearest Burger King was. I was right, someone was shot at the theatre the day I chose not to go. I still went the next day LOL. After the movie I was scared too. It was a great movie, and it was scary how one man started a whole revolution in the city. It. Was. Surreal.

Not many movies make me feel that way. And then the whole, "You wouldn't get it," scene happened and I was like, "Oh yeah. I forgot this is a movie Joker. Had to include some cringe, huh?"

Anyway, the movie was great! 9/10!

Here's the thing about what you said though, right? Look at Spider-Man (2002). It's an origin movie, sure, but try to remember how long they actually spent on his origin. 20 mins? 30 mins? The rest of the movie was fights with the Goblin and plots beyond the discovery of powers (which is great because I fucking love those movies. One day I'll talk about them). Joker (2020) was 2 hours of an origin. He did NOTHING as the Joker... because there were no distractions. No Batmen. The entire movie was Fleck establishing the basis of his future. What we know about the Joker now is exactly what makes the whole movie so significant. It's important because it's the only TRUE origin movie. Every second of the movie IS the origin. That's why it's so good. We know his motivations because they build in front of us, which is where Leto's Joker fails.

NES/Game Boy Tecmo Bowl and Tecmo Super Bowl destroy all Madden games

Assassin’s Creed games became trash when they added multiplayer, though WoodKid’s Revelations video was dope

Killzone 2’s multiplayer destroys every CoD’s multiplayer other than Modern Warfare 1 and 2

CoD’s zombies is utter and complete mindless garbage that can never hold a candle to Modern Warfare 2’s Special Ops

PS1 Resident Evil 2 is garbage

Kingdom Hearts 2 is garbage

In-And-Out is overrated and their fries are especially garbage no matter how they’re prepared

The Monster Hunter games are boring as hell, almost the same as CoD’s zombies in my opinion

FF8 is better than FF7

The 3D SF and KoF games are garbage

The Nintendo Switch is what the Vita should’ve been

People that preach and advocate for body positivity, but turn right around and body shame people for things they know can’t be controlled or changed are hypocritical assholes.

Sriracha and Chipotle sauce aren’t all they’re cracked up to be, even though everyone’s been going crazy for it.

Tattoos are overrated, especially this fad where everyone’s trying to look like a human transmutation circle. I’d bet good money that most of the asinine tattoos people have were acquired on a whim and have no meaning whatsoever. It’s going to be hilarious years from now when these people are walking around looking like broken etch-a-sketches.

Social media is garbage. People want to post every little thing they do online. Wake up, post. Take your morning piss, post. Wash your hands, post. Shit’s sad.

This might be viewed as antihumanism, if not inane to the majority, from this unpopular opinion, but I'm not sure if it's appropriate for the forums.

I don't think anyone deserves jail or prison, because it's revenge based, as I think there is no set defined path for justice, based on how we subjectively perceive good or bad. While I don't put much stock in the two, I believe it's only the perspectives, stand points, which separates us. There can only be a difference of both sides that are at odds with each other and should be left at that.

haha this reminded me of the dumbest scene I remember from the old GI Joe cartoon.. I saw this recently since the Hasbro youtube channel has been showing live-streamed episodes for some months now...

There's 2 Cobra soldiers armed with their usual rifles... and in comes Quick-Kick.  I've never been a fan of this character in the first place; I realize WHY he exists though---most likely they were trying to capitalize on the popularity of the legendary Bruce Lee at the time, so naturally you make up a "Bruce Lee" guy to be in the mix....but it's a strange fit since this is a show about 2 militarized factions that have firearms.  Anyway... OF COURSE the 2 Cobra soldiers don't bother gunning him down at range...nah because that would make sense, and this is an 80s cartoon with some tough "standards and practices" to worry about.  Instead, they start wielding their rifles like melee weapons, taking swings at Quick-Kick instead of just shooting him before he could even get close. 😆  I still wonder how many kids at the time were even going---"Oh come ON now...".  Since QK is the good guy and this is an 80s cartoon, naturally the 2 Cobra dudes cannot successfully bash him with their rifles, and he easily takes them out since he's a hand-to-hand combat specialist.

Man, thats cause murican cartoons.  Cant show them gunning a guy down in a cartoon meant for children.  Ever notice that when they get shot out of planes or helicopters no one ever dies.  They always manage to eject and get safely to ground before being beat up and arrested/captured.  Only thing they could do is have robots fight if death blows were being dealt.

Makes the reality of policing when you grow up that much more depressing.

the funniest bit of 90s-era "standards & practices" edits---in DBZ...it was Nappa, I think...there is a scene where he blasts some helicopters out of the sky.  Some character yells out "Look, I can see their parachutes!  They're ok!"  --meahwhile, there are no parachutes shown...just a helicopter that got blown the hell up. 😆

FF6 isn't nearly as good as it's made out to be. The cast was too bloated, which took away from more established characters being developed and Kefka was a B-tier villain. The OST still remains one of the best however.

Kefka wasn't the villain.

Cid was.

If Cyan hadn't sucked major donkey balls as a team member due to his skill being a slow moving, overflowing gabage truck olon a one-way lane, the cast would have been rather well rounded.

Setzer's skill sucked, but he had specific items that fixed him.

Everything that fixed Cyan, better characters could use to better effect.

Hard disagree on the actual characters' development, and the story as a whole.

All of the main cast got their time to shine.

Go-Go and Umero  weren't MCs.

The only other Final Fantasies with as well fleshed out cast members, had casts just as big, or close to it (4 & 9, and, as much as I hate to admit it...10).

They got time to shine, but aside from a few specific characters, that was it. Gogo, Umaro, Gau and Mog didn't need to be characters. They could have been cut from the group with absolutely nothing lost to the plot. Terra, Celes, Edgar, Sabin, Locke drove the initial plot forward. Cyan, Setzer, Relm, Strago and Shadow were your secondary supports. 9 and 10 were the gold standard for character development (especially 9, man!) 4... is a mixed bag for character plots. Your main cast (Cecil, Rosa, Kain, Rydia, and Edge) were just fine, but the DBZ suicide squad really took the edge off of the heroic sacrifice they played up so much.

Five doesn't get enough credit in the FF community. That game is still way better than the west typically ranks it.

ha, thinking about the logistics of that DBZ scene with the helicopters again...it gets more silly the longer I think about it... I'm just playing along with the absurdity here for a minute..

Basically, they wanted the audience to buy that the people in the helicopters were able to somehow see the attack coming and eject to safety....because the attack instantly destroys the helicopter, so there is no "eject!" option once it's been hit...so they see a super-fast ki-blast kind of attack coming and are able to react in time to that, I guess?  Even if that were to happen, now there's the problem of you being a slow-moving target floating to the ground.  Nappa and/or Vegeta could easily launch another little blast and as a frail, powerless non-Z-warrior  human, you can't do anything about this follow-up...assuming the ridiculous idea that you safely got away from the exploding area effect/shrapnel of the helicopter.

I think in another scene where Nappa does the attack where he levels entire cities by that "flip the finger" move (haha, I love that), there was also some characters mentioning how it's good they evacuated the city already?  (*..or this may have been Cell saga I'm thinking about?)

-----------more shit:

I was fully prepared to hate the Monster Hunter movie, considering who's involved in it--- I still haven't seen it, but the trailer looks like a surprisingly fun movie to me; I'm inclined to at least give it a chance.

Working from Home-- I'm one of those weirdos that would rather be working at the building like the good ol' days.  There's certain little details of my job that would generally be easier/less annoying in a normal "office building" environment.  I also don't like having my home sullied with "work" going on in here.  Home is supposed to be the "sanctuary", where a person can relax and enjoy all the fun things in life.  There's some things I like, sure.... but I'd rather everything go back to normal.

CGI effects complaints-- I still *suspect* that most people complaining about CGI in a movie are only complaining because they know that effect is CGI....and a lot of them probably just know it because someone or some publication/website *told* them it's an effect (or because it's something you just know cannot be a real thing anyway, like you can't have an actor actually moving around like Spiderman.  I'd love to see what happens if you "CGI" a person in a scene, but there's no leaked info of that being an effect... guarantee ya that most people wouldn't notice it enough to complain about the shit.  Once a person has been told that they CGIed this person's hair, or this other human character is a complete CGI effect and not a real actor... now you're mentally "on the lookout" and paying much more attention to it, trying to spot the flaws instead of enjoying the show.)

Also I want ranch to be eliminated from existence. Ranch is gross and looks like bird poop to me 😆

Nah. Reasons is how I take it. My personal conclusion is that it's of heightened interest because it's a part of Africa that Western culture idolizes.

Gogo and Umaro were bonus characters they didn't count.

Gau and Mog were totally relevant.

Gau moved quite a bit of the plot.

Mog, while only offering up a couple of small albeit critical moments of aid, was there specifically to show us that it wasn't merely humans and Espers who suffered from the war. All creatures did, and it was reflected in his joining your team, to bring a stop to the madness, and to avenge his entire fucking race. All of his loved ones are gone. Dead. He is the Last Moogle. Gamebreaking items rarely have the impact of Molulu's charm, much less on more than one level.

That is a great, essential character, right there.

Really? That is what you got from the whole time playing as Mog? Because all I saw was some cute bear thingy just tagging along for the ride (and bossing Sasquatches around)

If Mog was on some bloodthirsty quest for revenge, I didn't see/feel it.

What you got from my post was the idea that Mog was on a bloodthirsty quest for revenge?

Because I certainly did not write that.

If all you got from Mog was a cute bear thingy, it is a small wonder if you didn't think Dagger and other humans suffered some form of mutation given their models' head sizes.

Argue in better faith.

Again, where do you pull all this from? Mog's motivations and/or the fate of the Moogles are not made clear at any point during the game. Were the Moogles wiped out? Maybe? Mog certainly doesn't mention any of that at any point in the World of Ruin (unless future versions of the game fleshed that out, I'm basing myself on the SNES/PS1 releases). And in a game where everybody's else past and motivations are made perfectly clear and explicit (even the ever-mysterious Shadow), why not Mog?

So unless you point me towards whenever this is suggested, I'm just gonna assume you're looking too much into it.

yeah, I don't like ranch either...or bleu cheese.  Both look disgusting to me.  This probably isn't a surprise to anyone at this point, as most who know me know I'm terribly picky when it comes to food.  I'm a bit more open-minded in recent years though.

Most seafood is unappealing to me.  Eh, I probably said that one before.  Really, I enjoy the occasional fried fish from "home-style" local places, but that's about the extent of it for me.  I tried swordfish one time and that was good.  I tried shrimp once or twice....while it wasn't *bad*...it just wasn't all that.  It's just kinda "eh" for me... a food item I'd never go out of my way for.  Most things in this category of "seafood" don't immediately jump out as something I'd even want to try... a lot of it looks straight up repulsive, tbh.

I'll never understand why/how mukbang videos got to be an apparently popular thing.  I figured it's just because there's likely a lot of hot girls doing those videos, and dudes are checking it out because the girls are hot, nothing more.

Ok here goes:

Parries are a sick mechanic. Fucking amazing. Air parries... Not so much. Doesn't change the fact that I will use them. They're awesome to see, but clunky to fight *sometimes*. Usually the process is pretty streamlined into the mindgames, but I'd rather they just not be there.

Oki is the hardest thing in fighting games, both waking up and being on offence.

Throw is the coolest thing ever, but should not be meaty like SFV.

Grapplers and grappler players are as unique as the individual oxygen molecules in the air. You're not fooling anyone. Matter of fact, hopefully climate change kills your ass.

Guile is sick. Dhalsim ain't.

The best part of the FGC is the people you meet.

The worst part of the FGC is people you meet.

3rd Strike doesn't need an update, and neither does Marvel 2. They just need godlike ports.

Second to netcode, the biggest issue in FGs is crossplay, and then social media.

Wow I think these are the coldest, safest takes ever.

I like pickles in my burgers btw.

They.Are.All.Gone.

There are literally no Moogles left in their caves.

Mog gets Molulu's Charm because she is dead.

His motivation is to stop the evil that destroyed his world, and ended his race.

I am sorry you need everything spelled out, verbally. Show, not tell, is the stronger method of narration, by far. But it requires of its audience the capacity to see.

EDIT:

Here, this is a decent thread on it.

Gonna one up this and say I don’t drink coffee at all. Don’t care for the taste (don’t hate it either tho) and energy wise it’s never done anything for me except make me tired when it wears off.

I will say that I find the entire culture around it extremely annoying. “Don’t talk to me until I’ve had my coffee” types can fuck off right along with the people who act like they can’t function without it.
