The SF6 Thread: Ingrid already in, Crossover more nonsense

Man, people have been complaining a lot about patches for this game. Capcom is in a weird situation because Drive Rush basically warps the game. Drive Parry seems mostly fine now (even if parries continue to be a dogshit mechanic).

Unfortunately since blocking eats at drive meter, frame data is kind of stuck where its at. A year later and the greatest FGC midns don't seem to get that and continue crying about patches though. Bleh.

I don't understand the complaining about patches, either.  I feel like content creators/streamers push for patches just so they have more YouTube content and stuff to talk about on social media.  I've even heard some of the bigger FGC people saying they want MK style patches every 3 months lol.

Why would Capcom release a patch when the game is currently in a pretty good state.  It's balanced for the most part, every character can compete and is at least viable.  I think the only legitimate complaint is the lack of characters but that's probably not going to change.

At least, we are not on the same boat as tekken 8, lol

Because the main issue they have is that they don't like the system. Specifically they don't like Drive Rush. Instead of saying the game is ass, they complain about the balance. Problem is we're in an era in games where its rare for a character to be truly ass. Instead its more about the top end having too much.

Problem is that if you increase hit stun and bloc stun across the cast so that they can do more outside of using drive rush, you'll make Drive Rush situations worse. It'll be more fun combo wise, you'll get new links. But then pressure is gonna get crazier. You still have drive reversal, but you might be losing block, block and a half of drive meter per interaction.

Those kinds of issues arising is something people aren't thinking about when they complain about SF6 balance. The frame data is super locked in. This isn't an SF4 issue where they had a lot of leeway due to worrying mostly about links. SF5 wanted to move away from a lot of the frame traps in 4; SF6 wants to move away from the game relying heavily on one move giving you plus frames and then threatening throws/shimmies (they succeeded only halfways in that they let everybody convert heavily on shimmies instead of just Karin).

Yeah, I don't think a patch is going to change how SF6 functions on a base level.  The perfect parry change was the biggest one we saw.  Drive rush is drive rush - some characters it can be frustrating to deal with (Juri, Dee Jay) but overall I like the way it works.  You have to burn meter to get plus frames while mostly all normals are negative on block.  My character does have a +2 st.MP which is nice.

I guess I just found SFV much more frustrating to play in comparison with how characters were constantly pushing + on block normals in your face non-stop.  Bison in particular was a nightmare to try and find gaps in his pressure.   Not to mention V-trigger cancel into plus a billion into guessing games.  SF4 felt like you had a bit of a safety net with crouch tech and backdash.
