  1. Where did he say this? I don't really care about Luke and Sean having a rivalry (I think Sean is above him tbqh), but if Max is talking about wanting Sean then there's a good chance his legion of casuals will start parroting him and we end up having more people ask for him, which is a win in my book 😂
  2. Always got a Yoda and Luke thing from ESB in regards to Ryu and Oro where Luke/Ryu didn't really want help from Yoda/Oro after assuming them as being weak. I definitely don't think they've been training since SF3 because we never saw them even really fully interact, let alone agree to train together, so I think this bearded Ryu is just the result of him being under a long training period while Oro kept an eye on him. I'm trying to make a random guess of how long it's been since SF3 and I'm thinking we could be looking at maybe five or so years since SF3, or at the very least 2-4 years. Luke looks like a pretty well seasoned fighter now with his scars. Still confused as to where his tattoos have gone. I'm sure Capcom just decided to get rid of them but I can't help but wonder if there's more to it. I'm probably overthinking it though.
  3. Yeah I don't think this is post-Oro training Ryu. Maybe mid-way at best but regardless he's definitely held up somewhere training his ass off.
  4. Yeah I have to admit I didn't think they'd go this far ahead past SF3. Looks like it's been a considerable amount of time since SF5 which was pretty much in and around SF3 anyway. You can tell by Luke's scars that he's been a wandering fighter for a while now and, as you said, Ryu has no doubt been training for a long time. Once again, I do not know how someone can come to this conclusion after seeing everything Capcom have been doing to build towards 3 from within 5. I genuinely do not know why people still think this.
  5. Yeah unfortunately not. He was never going to though, the burn of SF3 bombing and him being the face of it meant he was probably never getting spotlight again. I still hope he's in SF6 though (especially if it's set after 3), I think he'd look great in this style.
  6. Luke looks totally different than he does in SF5. It also looks like a considerable amount of time has passed since SF5 (Luke has scars and Ryu's beard) so I'm pretty confident we've moved past SF3 in the timeline.

  8. Urien being bronze with white hair is just a retcon to make him stand out more and not be another blonde white guy. Hardly ruins the series' narrative. It's not that hard to believe SF3 Kolin can fight really. Don't see how Gill's actions are any different than in SF3 other than him interacting with the wider world of SF which was a given when they decided to bring him back. Sean having a sister has been a thing since New Generation fact files. Not going to really bother going into the rest of your post, but just like every other attempt I've seen to justify why SF3 should be retconned/rewritten I still so no reason why it should actually happen other than just a personal 'I want it to' thing. None of the 'changes' you listed affect the lore of the series in any meaningful way and is a drop in the ocean compared to the other things they've directly tied SF5 and SF3 together with.
  9. We've already gone past SF3 within 5 itself so I fail to see why Capcom would reboot it. I would (obviously) hate to see 3 rebooted as I think it was a pretty good story all things considered and it'd be a shame to see everything it did be erased for no real reason. This is also ignoring all the stuff 5 did to setup towards it like Oro taking an interest in the idea of someone like Ryu, Sean meeting Ken and becoming a fan of him, Chun Li adopting Li Fen etc. I mean seriously, why would they reboot it after building up to AND passing it in 5? And chances are it'll be mostly new stuff anyway in 6 due to everything they've set up in 4 and 5 needing a conclusion, but that's Capcom's fault more than anything. Just because it might be set after 3 doesn't mean it has to immediately follow on from it. I imagine most of that game's storylines to just become side stuff while Luke and whatever he's doing takes prominence. Like, we're not having Gill and the Illuminati be the villain of 6. If anything he's probably going to be the new Bison who's manipulating stuff from the shadows who the characters relating to him try to stop while Luke deals with the new threat.
  10. Jumping in to say that I'm also 99% sure we're getting SF6 revealed this weekend which is very exciting! Should be good to theorise over the story with everyone again. Fingers crossed for it being set after 3!
  11. Great post, you provided a lot of good evidence here. Is it OK if I use this post (with full credit to you of course) in a video I make on G and Q? I don't know when I'll make it but a lot of what you put here is very useful and I'd love to use it if that's OK with you. As for me, I've been on the 'G isn't Q' train since the start (mostly because I hated the idea of it) but as the years have gone on since G's debut the evidence that's been found and theorised pretty much confirms to me that they're not the same person. I agree with you that Capcom wants people to think they are, and for the most part it's working based on how many people just accept that G is Q (nevermind the godawful 'but Q is already in the game?!?!?' joke that keeps getting spammed whenever someone asked for Q in SF5).

  13. It's good, but following 4 I felt like it was a bit...redundant I guess? I'm not one of those insane people that think 4 and 5 look the same (because jesus christ SF4 was ugly even back in 2009 when I first played it and had a super basic understanding of SF), but they definitely share a similar art-style. I've always kind of thought 5 was what 4 should have looked like, in that it's Capcom perfecting that style and making it not look like shit. Model quality wise, I thought it was spotty with some characters looking amazing and others looking horrendous, but this is no doubt down to the many different studios Capcom were outsourcing SF5 to during development. For every Chun Li you had an Alex. It was just a shame and I hope that for 6 they don't outsource anything (or at least don't outsource to so many studios. I swear hearing back in the day that Season 1's characters were made by like three or four different studios which is just crazy). If they have to outsource though, just make sure the studio that made Alex's model never comes close to one of their projects again. In-game artwork wise, yeah everyone else is pretty much spot on and that Bengus was all over the place and incredibly inconsistent. It's a shame too because I always liked his artwork for older SF games (never one of my favourites though) and I actually forgot how good the artwork in Kolin's character story was, but god damn is the art fucking bad in this game. To the point that the good artwork is either completely drowned out or not even remembered because of how much bad stuff there is. I think this is a case for the promotional art too which IMO is a huge step down from pretty much every other game. It's clear Bengus' style is just totally different to what it used to be and while that's fine and does happen, I just really dislike it and hope that he's as far away from 6 as possible. I really hope they get Nishimura or Ikeno back but I'll take anyone as long as it's not Bengus again. As for my hopes for how 6 looks, I just want it to be different. I obviously don't want hyper realism or even Tekken style 'realism', but I just want the game to stand out on its own from the rest of the series. While 4 and 5 are clearly different graphically, as I said earlier they kinda follow similar styles and I think in the long run that hurts how the game is remembered in terms of its individuality. It's the same reason why I wouldn't want 6 to ape 3's or Alpha's style despite loving those games. Just give me a game that feels different, something that in 10-15 years from now I can go 'yeah that was undisputedly what SF6 was like'. Idk, probably rambling but after like 10+ years of similar art styles I think the series desperately needs a vibrant kick up the ass to make it stand out again. Hopefully with Ono gone we can get that.
  14. The only reason I'd want Goutetsu to be playable is because it would be the last step needed to completely erase all of Akuma's confirmed kills and make him into more of a joke than he already is. But yeah fuck Goutetsu, he'd be a waste of a slot.
  15. https://www.capcom-unity.com/2021/11/29/luke-street-fighter-vs-final-character-has-entered-the-ring/ Literally none of this happens????
  16. I meant Capcom Cup lol. That whole Captain Commando thing was some dumb as hell theory Max came up with as a way for him to try and find a way to make Luke more interesting than he actually is lol.
  17. They hovered on this for a while. Could line up with something happening during CC?
