One of the best things about Skies of Arcadia, one of the main villains (trying hard not to spoil this 20 year old game here) is just the same. The hero is just pure good, full of hope - not edgy, remotely dark, anti-hero: nothing. When they come face to face, main guy just tells him "I'm here to kill you" - while smiling! - and it blew my tiny mind at the time!

I only knew of Sephiroth from a friend singing "Se-phi-roth, do do do do doo" all the fucking time. A different friend lent me FFVII at the time, but I had just discovered Skies of Arcadia, the Better Game. I now have FFVII Remake, but kinda lost interest halfway through. I still intend to play through it, but it's been so long I'm torn between starting again (and suffering through a handful of earlier chapters) or just carrying on.

The first time I got involved with my local scene (went to get SFxT from an indie game shop, got talking to the guy behind the counter about Qanba sticks) I played Guile, and they literally said "Guile's walking forward, I have no idea what to do!". Then they battered me, but I honestly think they had no idea what to do. I mean, I can't add much to your analysis other than my shit story!

There's a lot there that I love about SFV Guile. I've been playing Guile forever, but SFV's late normal-cancels for corner combos fucked me up for a long time, and I weirdly liked learning s.lk to flash kick, not that I can pop it out at any point (Also, can't do s.lk to boom, at all) It's just so satisfying to walk people to the corner, then have so many ways to pressure, at least for me. I honestly believe he's a fun char to play - he's a walking wall

Same here, really. Highland had him down to a tee, and having mained Guile for so long, I still learned a tonne from his video explaining fireball speeds, but I don't think I'm somebody able to put in that work with Sagat

For the record, NW England to Toronto "playable", def wasn't optimal but if desperate for folk to play against for a laugh, could be tolerated. Def saw/heard rollback issues though. GGs Matt though, thanks for the test!
