  1. I usually don't have complaints about Street Fighter in general but I'm complaining now. Matchmaking is so weird with Ranked and Casual. In Ranked I'll get players at the same rank but then in Casual they will be under my rank. I literally played zero Diamonds in Casual last night. I'm tryna get used to playing online but not having consistent ranks is throwing me off. At any rate, I thought I'd be sticking with Ryu but it's harder to win with him than I expected, so back to Blanka for me! I haven't had him as my main since SF4, and I've always liked his unpredictably, options for cross ups and easy mode damage. I need to be CARRIED! 😆
  2. I showed my wife this video and she was like "what's carried mean?" and I explained. Then she was like "so that's what Luke was doing in SF5!" 😂
  3. I agree - the English voice acting is definitely good and I’ve set everyone to English too. Feels like with legacy VAs like Kyle Hebert, he and others got better over time. In SF4 and SF5 I usually had Ryu on Japanese, but the quality is on another level to the point where I honestly think Kyle Hebert did a better job than Hiroki Takahashi this time around. I understand and appreciate@CESTUS III’ perspective too. In most anime media, we know the Japanese script is usually gonna take precedence over the English one, because with English adaptations what’s being said is an approximation of the Japanese script. SF6 solves so much of that issue thankfully! Funny enough though, even with SF6 you can tell that there are some localization changes for sure. For example, Dee Jay in his epilogue in Japanese says a lot of short Engrish phrases that wouldn’t make much sense to us, but in English he sounds completely natural with talking about how excited he is to make new music. I found I’ve always thought that if a character has an accent that English would be the premier choice. But characters who don’t have accents and are from other countries like Juri, Chun and Blanka are kinda in a weird spot. Seeing that Chun is an Interpol agent, I can understand her being multilingual.
  4. I agree with you on SF4. Gouki’s English voice in SF5 though was significantly better when Richard Epcar took over the role. Dave Mallow sounded like he had stuffed ghost peppers and concentrated cigarette smoke down his throat for far too long. I felt Epcar was very close compared to how Taketora performed. Certain things in the script could’ve been better (Die One Thousand Deaths should’ve maybe just remained as Isshun Sengeki), but overall it was solid.
  5. Yeah, I wonder what motivated the sound team to switch to such a different sound compared to the first two Alpha games. I mean I'm probably among the few people who liked nearly every single soundtrack in SF history, but even though I enjoyed Alpha 3's soundtrack I get the sentiment for not liking it too. They probably wanted to explore another layer of sound with the "new" soundtrack, as we learned more about our characters' pasts. Every SF song always has something behind it... Like when I hear The Road, I feel like it speaks to Ryu's determination to make himself a great fighter - it has a youthful upbeat sound in contrast to KOBU in SF3TS.
  6. No prob! So from the language sub menu, change the "Voice Language (BH Cabinet Match/FG)" option to Custom, which will then open the menu for Character-Specific Settings. Then set Luke, Guile and JP to English and Japanese to the rest, as you intend! 👊🏾
  7. @DarthEnderX finally found the quote from here: https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Trivia/StreetFighterAlpha "For Alpha 3, Takayuki Iwai, the main musical composer for the game, originally wanted to use a custom CD-based soundboard in order to make a hard rock soundtrack similar to Guilty Gear. Budget constraints forced him to use the standard MIDI Q-Sound system instead." We could've had The Road as a beastly rock theme 😭
  8. Funny enough, I can't find the source, but I remember reading in a wiki a long time ago that they planned on making a soundtrack with live instrumentation, but they couldn't fit it onto the roms sadly. The options are thankfully still available! They're just slightly more difficult to find because there are just so many more switches. For real! I went back to look at some old SF2 artwork and referenced the 8 WW and their classic looks in SF6 are ridiculously spot on. Big shout out to the artists who updated Dee Jay's classic look. He and all the other SF2 alums look like legitimate people, even Blanka in some strange way.
  9. I was not at all expecting to get outta trials and get to Diamond 1 on day 1 of ranked. That's better than the progress I made in SF5, since it pretty much took the life of the game to make it there or beat a Master JP with Ryu 2-1, nonetheless. I think I might have some fun with ranked in SF6! By the way, I know Denjin Charge isn't the best install, buuuut even though I'm giving up oki, I get some nice combo opportunities! OD Hashogeki on hit crumples, so whatever I can think of before and after Hashogeki can (and has) led into solid damage. Thanks for the advice and the encouragement to go into ranked!!
  10. True words. SF4 is a jank fest. We can definitely find stills where they looked fine, but in motion...? Hideous. On character models, Gouki's was absolutely among the worst with his wife beater gi. He was a goblin of abominable proportions and his VA Dave Mallow made it even worse. SF5 had less jank, but nonetheless jank. This may be an unpopular opinion, but SF6 animates and looks so many gradients better than both games easily. No more banana Ken, or animations that are way too fast to look decent a la SF4. Almost forgot to note no more Kung Fu Theatre with the English voices with Japanese lip movement. Beautiful game, that SF6.
  11. If I get to Diamond 1 I’ll be happy! Gonna start these ranked matches probably tomorrow. I’mma chill from SF6 and read some Ninja Turtles.
  12. Yup that order is based on the order in game. Notice the World Warriors from Ryu to Dhalsim. Would've been easier to follow if they had it in alphabetical or numeral order... 🤔
  13. Simple poll on your opinion about jumping into ranked or hanging back on casual to learn before I hit it: https://take.quiz-maker.com/poll4908876x9d6D4267-151
  14. I appreciate solid advice, and I also love the chaos of the memes!
  15. So now that I'm pretty much done with World Tour and Arcade, I'm legitimately tryna learn the game as of last week. Right now I'm learning Ryu to get my feet wet. But I can't help but feel like maybe the learning curve is steeper than at least SF5? Reacting to and countering DI, DR combos and getting the perfect parry timing is gonna take time. I'm hanging back on ranked until I get a handle on this stuff. If anyone has pointers I'll take what I can get!
  16. So something trivial that I've been thinking about... The scripting is I think much better than it's been comparing the English to the Japanese version. I feel like since the English lip movement now matches with the English voices, seems that a lot of the lines are closer to each other, with a few interesting exceptions. I was listening to Guile's Somersault Kick lines for both English and Japanese and for the English perfect Somersault I like that he says "Flash Kick!" but no matter what modern SF we get, we're gonna hear anything but Flash Kick. Interesting choice for the Japanese perfect Somersault line to be "Crescent!"
  17. Alright, so I've really been considering whether to get at least one of the Turtles' costumes. They're among my favorite IPs and I love the style they have in the game. The way I see it is, there are tons of others who have the costumes and I'll see them in the Battle Hub, besides I can't justify spending even $10 each. So to sum up everything here's my response to getting the content:
  18. Anyone happen to notice that A.K.I. had the nihiihii laugh that F.A.N.G. also does? She gonna continue the 2 theme?
  19. EVO truly is the Superbowl of fighting games, for lack of better terms.
  20. Do we have the crack to partially thank for some of these beastly sets?
  21. The way Rick Thiher sounded, I swear he channels WWE energy Fantastic EVO! And we’re all free now.
  22. Great top 6. Angry Bird did his thing. Proud of Mena. And WOKE CONTROLS did not prevail!!!
  23. I’m calling it Blanka mains will be made tonight cuz Mena
