  1. I don't think she did. She has mentioned training under her, and being rescued by her. But no mention of how long.
  2. How the fuck did DSP end up with a Diamond rank? That fool could barely get out of silver in SFV.
  3. Maximizing Chun-Li's Bond and Mastery Level in WTM was priority number 1 with this game (along with unlocking all of her artwork and story in Arcade Mode). After giving it some time to process, I've collected my thoughts on each new character info and artwork with each level. A Bond with Chun-Li: 1 Thoughts: I honestly think the only character that can beat Chun-Li in a marksman contest within the SF universe is Falke. Interestingly enough, Chun-Li said that she never really had to use her sidearm much in her career as a cop and Interpol agent. She found that kicking fools was much more effective way of neutralizing the opposition. And the times when she did have to fire her gun was only as warning shots. Chun-Li does enjoy skeet shooting and also mentions how she relates to her kung fu. Mentally, both require intense focus and precision. Which is interesting because as fast as Chun-Li looks flailing around her Lightning Kicks, each kick is delivered with intent and precision. I love seeing the characters in settings outside of combat, where we can just see them as real people. A Bond with Chun-Li: 2 Thoughts: Gorgeous... just... absolutely... gorgeous! A candlelit performance just for me, under the gazebo of of Hong Hu Lu Chinatown, surrounded by lit paper lanterns, and the mesmerizing, spiritual, and emotional sounds of the strings that bring a piece of traditional Chinese history to the atmosphere. I could not imagine a more captivating date night. And just look at her! Look how beautiful she is! Just... look... I could watch this for hours. Probably another way Chun-Li honors her roots with her Erhu. But this is def a new fact about Chun we've never learned before, even me. And that's the beauty about this mode and about the lore: discoveries. What makes falling in love with someone every day exciting? You discover something new about them every time. Maybe a new fact about them. Maybe the way their mannerism. Maybe the way they like or dislike things. And it's those discoveries that keep the relationship fresh, fun, and forever... Chun-Li_Forever. (Heh, se what I did there?) A Bond with Chun-Li: 3 Thoughts: Okay this one means a little more to me. And I'll explain why in a bit. But essentially it's the end of ASF and all of her SFV Character Story into one image, with the addition of their happy relationship now in the middle. Plus, the outfit Li-Fen wears in the SF6 Prequel comic!!! I think my favorite part about this is seeing them grow into each other. Li-Fen was an orphan. Whatever family she had was gone. And she was alone. Not to mention her forcing to aid a criminal syndicate with the black moons, and nearly being murdered would traumatize anyone, let alone a young girl like Li-Fen. You can see in her face how scared and alone she looks in the first two. And it just warms my heart to finally seeing her smiling, slowly and surely. It started with something as simple as tying her hair back and giving her some steamed buns. And now she's aiding Chun-Li in her missions and learning kung fu from her Jiejie. It's too precious. But For CHun-Li as well. You can see in her eyes that she's found something that holds just as dear in her heart just as she was motivated to avenge her father and stop M. Bison. You can see in Chun's eyes that she just wants to give Li-Fen a comfortable life. But opening up to her wasn't easy, given Li-Fen's trauma. Plus, I can imagine that Chun-Li must have some reservations about being a first-time mom/guardian. I can imagine that she wants Li-Fen to like her and welcome her as her new guardian in her own time. I wish they'd shown this in 5, that it took some time for Li-Fen to open up to Chun-Li. They only just mention it in exposition in her character story. But I love Chun's care, and concern in the pic on the right. And now, look how happy the two look! Just... it's too much! So wholesome! So this bond level artwork means a little more to me because I've been working on a Chun-Li fan comic for years now. And there is a moment/flashback of the very same thing that I wrote up and commissioned an artist to do. So it just feels extra special to hear Chun-Li explain her adopting Li-Fen in WTM. A Bond with Chun-Li: 4 Thoughts: MORE CHUN-LI AND LI-FEN BONDING SCENES PLEASE! THIS MALL SCENE IS JUST TOO MUCH SUGARY SWEET GOODNESS IM GETTING DIABETUS!!!! FIrst, I love seeing characters in other outfits in a casual setting. I LOVE Chun-Li's outfit. I always loved blue on her, and her gold qipao design on the sleeves of her shirt is simple but lovely. And Chun can rock both a dress and pants. I love her! And Li-Fen's outfit in this one is adorbs too. And she has the same bag that can be seen in her SFV CRI Artwork too. - Li-Fen and Chun-Li eating crepes, Chun's preferred sweet: MY HEART!!! - Li-Fen and Chun-Li grocery shopping: Precious! Granted, Li-Fen is most likely doing the shopping and CHun-Li is just pushing thte cart around, since Li-Fen can cook. - Li-Fen and Chun-Li shopping for clothes: Oooooh, I was curious when Li-Fen started to transition from pink to yellow. I always knew Li-Fen looked up to Chun-Li and wanted her new outfit to reflect her primary colors. But I like seeing the moment when Li-Fen thinks to herself "Hmmmm, you know, yellow does look good on me". I love this one so much. I love seeing Chun-Li and Li-Fen just act like a family. It's too precious (i know i've said this word way too much). I love seeing how happy they look. I can only imagine the kind of special day they had with something as simple as a day in the mall. What did they shop for? What did they have for lunch? What does the Metro City mall food court look like. And good god, how much money did Chun-Li spend on this girl? Li-Fen did say that she is there to soak up Chun-Li's coolness... and her cash. I know Chun-Li wants to spoil the little girl to no end. But goodness, just wait until she gets older and she starts asking for more expensive things. It's a panda bag, a juicy steak, and a gaming mouse for now... when she's older... dear god. I love getting to know more about Chun and Li-Fen in these interactions. I know Li-Fen loves pandas, gaming, Shaobings. And I've learned that Chun-Li dabbles in skeetshooting, and plays the erhu. I want more. I do think that these are probably the most we're gonna get, since it would be an undertaking to get new bonding artwork for each character every year. But I love these moments, and I wish there was more to unlock. Capcom did WTM right with their characters in WTM. I'm not as invested in the CAC story, since I'll always care more about my favorite characters' story than a CAC story. But for us fans of lore and character development, these bonding levels have been the best part of World Tour.
  4. Just to wrap up all the ones I've missed until this point. Chun-Li To Zangief: “Phew. It’s precisely because you’re not all brawn that I can never be too careful.” Thoughts: As usual with most of the original WWs, there is a clear respect for Zangief as a fighter. Solid. Dee Jay To Chun-Li: “Nice kicks! Nothin’ more beautiful than feet movin’ to a unified rhythm!” Thoughts: Nah Dee Jay, nothing more beautiful than the one you giving this win quote too. ❤️ That aside, still an air of respect to be expected from the WWs, so solid quote again. I think my favorite part about this quote is the "unified rhythm" part, as it can be taken both literally and metaphorically. Literally because Dee Jay is a musician and his beat influences his fighting. But metaphorically because just like in WTM, we're all after the same thing, looking for strength and bettering ourselves. I feel Dee Jay and Chun do that well into their later years. E. Honda To Chun-Li: “Your kicks are killer, just like always! How do ya think my sumo slaps have held up?” Thoughts: I'm curious how many on the SF Story thread would be on team Lightning Kicks vs Hundred Hand Slaps. Same as the previous, acknowledgement of strength and respect. It would be fun to see the fastest and strongest legs in SF taking on the fastest and most overwhelming hands in SF. That would be a very fun spectacle indeed. Zangief To Chun-Li: “Kick me all you like! I’ll take every hit in stride and dish out twice as much in return!” Thoughts: Well, the man did break a psycho doll's samurai sword slash with the power of his chesticles in ASF. I wouldn't be surprised if Gief really does have iron underneath those muscles of his. Def a lot more jovial Gief in this one. Though we can also infer there will always be a acknowledgement of respect between the two. I guess another way to infer this would be that Gief is letting Chun-Li know that her strong kicks will help make Gief stronger as well. (And with that, we done until the new characters come out. Thanks Story Fam for always letting me indulge in this)
  5. I believe that it's the same encounter from different perspectives. Juri and Chun meet up, Chun tries to get Juri to stop pursuing vengeance, while Juri warns Chun-Li that evil still lurks in the shadows waiting for the right moment to pounce. I think Chun either wins or is close to winning, as she stays that "she didn't get any more information out of Juri", so Chun probably at worst entertained Juri enough for her to to spill a little something before bailing out.
  6. It says a lot when Chun's and Juri's arcade mode stories are fundamentally the same, and yet Juri's is the one with much better character depth. I wish Chun's was a little more of polar opposite to Juri, which would be perfect for their rivalry. Juri is still bitter, and has not truly moved on from vengeance. Where as Chun-Li has, as evidenced with her moving on with her life, teaching kung fu and adopting Li-Fen. Chun-Li has found peace, and Juri still can't let it go. And that was the thing that I felt lacked with Chun-Li's arcade mode story. Prologue had a lot of exposition. No mentioning of Li-Fen or that Chun-Li's life taking a new and peaceful turn. Hell, give us some Chun and Li-Fen fun and fluff as an arcade prologue! Show them going shopping or getting sweets! I'd be happy with that. Or at least have Li-Fen be a component in both Chun's and Juri's arcade modes. Li-Fen would give Chun-Li a reason to fight. And Juri can see Li-Fen as either A) A new chain to pull whenever she wants to mess with Chun, or B) maybe a turn in a new direction, after seeing Chun-Li move on and put M. Bison in the past with the addition of Li-Fen, maybe Juri could go find a new reason to fight to help her close that M. Bison chapter in her life. I like that in Juri's pre-boss fight, Chun is showing compassion and empathy of Juri's history. And you can hear in Juri's voice and in her words that it's cutting deep to the truth. Chun's pre-boss fight is just a tease of a returning evil, but it doesn't give any more information than that.
  7. I think during a scene when you have to save her from the Mad Gear, she mentions that this wasn't the first time she's been kidnapped. LF mentions Chun-Li rescued her when they first met. But I also think she mentioned that there were a couple of times when Chun-Li had to come to her rescue (probably refering to SF3)
  8. I love this so much! Chun-Li talks about Li-Fen in this one, how she rescued her, and took her in when she had no family left. And, her words, she says she sees "Li-Fen as a little sister, though she is young enough to be her daughter".
  9. Chun-Li to JP: "Psycho Power is abohorent. You cannot be allowed to use it for your own ends!" Thoughts: Makes sense, Chun-Li has always been wary of people with Psycho Power. Obviously her history with her and M. Bison. But even for the Neo-Shadaloo characters, Chun-Li has never trusted them because of their psycho power aura. I think what interests me the most is if Chun-Li and JP ever met post-comics and into SF6. I'd be very interested to see what would happen when Chun-li discovers for the first time JP using psycho power and his genius behind all the stuff at Nayshall. I'm also curious if JP would be all the reason Chun-Li would need to jump back into Interpol business again. Chun-Li to Dhalsim: "Facing you is less like training, and more like meditation." Thoughts: First, from a online standpoint, I wish I had this kind of mentality whenever I play against Dhalsims online. It's been Chun's worst MU, and always makes me want to chew my nails off. Second, def can sense the friendly respect between the two, even when fighting against each other, in friendly or a little more serious combat. It does sound a little funny in retrospect when Dhalsim lands a Super Art on Chun-Li, either burning her alive or headbutting into her midsection, or vice versa with Chun-Li kicking him in the face, that they can call all of that "meditation". I can see Chun-Li having meditation sessions with Dhalsim, and using his meditative training into her own Kung Fu and her own teachings as well. (Not sure if I've done this one) Blanka to Chun-Li: I'm always on my guard. Play around in the jungle, and you'll get eaten alive. Thoughts: I'm guessing Blanka has seen some wildass shit as a Jungle protector and tour guide. Def don't see Chun-Li having the jungle instincts that Blanka has, probably wouldn't last a few days on the TV show Survivor. Probably would get in trouble with an anaconda, or have a monkey steal her hear ribbon for her oxhorn. Or fall in the river and get attacked by piranhas. Decent quote, good advice to Chunners.
  10. Chun-Li to Manon: "You've got incredible potential. Work tirelessly and you'll go far." Thoughts: I love the mutual respect between the two. I think Chun can sense the similarities of the combination graceful movement from her ballet and the power and technique in her judo. Very much like her Kung Fu. And even a beautiful woman such as Chun-Li herself can see Manon already has the charisma to be an icon in the fighting and fashion world. Hoping she's one of the characters that makes a big impact on the fanbase to be featured again in future SF games and media. Chun-Li to E. Honda: "A sumo restaurant? You come up with such entertaining endeavors." Thoughts: Not too surprising. Honda is indeed a man of Sumo and business. I do think the Business side of Honda may be overlooked from his overall character. First a bathhouse in SF5, then a restaurant in WTM in SF6. Say what you want about Honda, but you can't deny the man is an entrepreneur. I do think Chun is impressed with Honda, the man is making it in the world, promoting his sumo, and I bet raking in all that sweet fight money as well. Def a hint of teasing in this one. Chun does tease that beating him grants her a free trip to his bathhouse. I'm curious if Chun wants to leverage her connection with Honda for a free meal at Honda's restaurant. JP To Chun-Li: "Strength is neither good nor evil. Psycho Power is no different." Thoughts: Interesting for sure. I do think before JP, the evil side of Psycho power would be M. Bison, and the good side (of a similar power) would be Rose. And we'll soon see where Ed's alignment will be when he appears in SF6. I wonder if Chun-Li senses the potential threat that JP possesses. If she can sense his psycho power, then that should be more than enough reason to have her on edge (again). Def a more capitalistic version of M. Bison. But potentially equally as dangerous.
  11. Chun-Li Arcade Story Mode: Prologue, Fight Your Rival, and Ending Thoughts: Lastly, I got two more Chun-Li quotes Chun-Li to Cammy: "Bison's gone, yet your mission continues. That dedication comes through in the way you fight." Thoughts: After the fall of M. Bison, Chun-Li takes a break from work to teach kung fu, while Cammy continues to hunt down the revenants of Shadaloo, and anything that might be connected. Both take different paths, and there is always an underlying friendship, acknowledgement of strength, and respect between the two. Chun-Li to Lily: "You remind me of a warrior I once knew. Perhaps you're related?" Thoughts: Chun most likely notices how Lily's style and connection to the spirits is almost identical to T. Hawk. I do know Chun and T. Hawk have encountered each other in the Udon comics, but I can't really say with certainly if they had any canonical meetings. Wouldn't be surprised if they did, since Juli was a Shadaloo doll. Interestingly, unlike some of the other young guns of the cast (Luke, Jamie), Chun-Li doesn't scold or criticize the young Thunderfoot warrior about respect or fighting. She probably already has a good head on her shoulders already.
  12. That, I can believe. I've always beleived that since the SF2 characters have been together and fighting against (and sometimes alongside) each other, I'd thought that there would be some level of friendship between al the WWs. But now I'm much more open for her win quote being more teasy than disrespectful.
  13. Protector of the wild, huh? That makes much more sense, and that went over my head. Even if it doesn't seem like a malicious laugh, I'd always thought Chun would've been a person that respected all styles of combat, no matter how unorthodox they are.
  14. Chun-Li to Blanka: "Sorry for laughing. I know you take your duties as a protector very seriously... Heh heh. Thoughts: I don't know how i'm supposed to feel about this. It just sounds uncharacteristically disrespectful to Blanka. It doesn't sounds like Chun's endearing "Yatta" kind of laugh. But more like straight up disrespectful. Unless I'm missing some subtext. Both Chun and Blanka have something to protect: Chun-Li with Li-Fen and her students, Blanka with his mama. So why is she making light of this? Marisa to Chun-Li: Your Chinese Martial Arts are incredible! Thing is, I've got history backing me up too!" Thoughts: I can tell that Marisa respects Chun-Li as a fighter too. I'm looking forward to learning Marisa's backstory, and the history of her martial arts. I know Marisa's Pankration it's as historic as the original Greek Olympics. But I'm curious if Marisa had a strong and passsionate teacher just like Chun-Li had her father and Gen. Chun-Li to Marisa: "China's martial arts are every bit as ancient as yours, I'll have you know." Thoughts: Pretty much the same feelings as Marisa's to Chun. Both acknowledge their fighting and the history of their styles. Though, the later part of her quote can be interpreted as a friendly reminder or a stern warning to respect her, probably depending on her mood.
  15. Dhalsim to Chun-Li: "Feel the movement of your physical form. That is where meditation begins." Thoughts: Nothing really too much to look into with this one. Dhalsim's last quote to Chun-Li in SFV was about her struggling to release the shackles of her past. Now in SF6, it looks like she's done just that. But I honestly can't find anything deep with this one. There is much focus in Chun's movments in her teachings. Maybe that's the lesson Dhalsim passed to her in this age.
