It's actually kind of difficult to even picture really wanting a console in the first year of its release at this point. It's all incremental improvements and bare-bones libraries of stuff you can mostly already play on the last gen.

SFIII never really clicked for me. I was okay-ish at 2nd Impact for a while, but mostly I always just ended up wishing I was playing the Alpha games. I don't hate IV or V though. They're not amazing, but there's enough depth to them without managing to annoy me too much.

Yeah, the costuming and set design really leans into Anya Taylor-Joy's good looks as the series goes on too. Plus the episodes hold up, and a minor quibble aside the ending does not at all suck. Really solid series all around.

It's hard to fault any Darkstalkers game mechanic, because the games are pure fun, but it doesn't really add much depth. The frame data on throwing and recovery is way more important than however the clashed projectiles end up resolving.
