For my own education as a parent, what's the rationale for cracking down on jewelry? I could see anything with real value being a problem, but most cosmetic crap seems pretty harmless.

Yeah, the arrowheads they use for hunting are much more damaging than anything you've probably seen people target shooting with at archery contests or whatever. I don't hunt deer, but I grew up kind of immersed in the culture of it.

You wouldn't believe the number of deer in my suburb. They literally just passed an ordinance allowing bow hunting in people's yards here to try and cut down on them.

In PA, Columbus day is mostly observed as a holiday on years it coincides with the first day of deer hunting season. My kids' daycare is closed though.

I never have any idea what to say at funerals. All my best stories about people usually involve them in some sort of context the other people at the funeral aren't necessarily going to appreciate. My own mother, we didn't have a funeral for. But here's the story I wouldn't have been able to share. So one year when I was a kid my big Christmas request was to get the 4 player adapter for my NES, because I already had a couple of games that would work with it and often had a bunch of friends over at the same time. And my mom, not being a technologically inclined sort, didn't fully understand what I was asking for and went into the local Toys-R-Us asking the clerks for foreplay. That's it. That's the story.

Yeah, I just mean that if you seal up the windows too early in the year and the cooler sucks, you might just turn the house into an oven. On the other hand if the cooler is good it might actually help keep the heat out, so who knows.

Ah, yeah not much you can really do then. You might hit up a hardware store and get some of those winterizing kits with the plastic heat shrink to go over your windows. That might help or hurt with it being too warm at night though, depending on the AC situation.

If I'm remembering who that was, he has serious health issues with his eyes that he's discussed publicly before. It might be worthwhile to reach out to him directly and ask what changes would be helpful (even if you have to do it over on SRK).
