I know it's probably not fair to do so, but I blame A LOT of the stupid humour in SF4 and 5 on Ono. A character like Abigail is just so stupidly shit that it screams that only person found it funny and pushed for it really hard.
 
Just the general tone of some characters and even the stages just feels like everything that isn't directly tied to the main plot has to be extremely goofy. Dan is just incredibly pathetic now. Ibuki literally just wants some dick (remember when she was a ninja who went on important missions?). Everything about Birdie in 5. I mean, take the Shadaloo stage in 5 for example. That's pretty much the stage where the final battle takes place, and you have guys in jetpacks flying around fighting ninjas like they're in a slapstick comedy. It's ridiculous. 
 
I hope that with Ono gone we can move towards having a more genuine sense of humour with some elements instead of the most random shit being dumb as hell for no reason.

Yeah unfortunately not. He was never going to though, the burn of SF3 bombing and him being the face of it meant he was probably never getting spotlight again. I still hope he's in SF6 though (especially if it's set after 3), I think he'd look great in this style.

Always got a Yoda and Luke thing from ESB in regards to Ryu and Oro where Luke/Ryu didn't really want help from Yoda/Oro after assuming them as being weak. I definitely don't think they've been training since SF3 because we never saw them even really fully interact, let alone agree to train together, so I think this bearded Ryu is just the result of him being under a long training period while Oro kept an eye on him. 
 
I'm trying to make a random guess of how long it's been since SF3 and I'm thinking we could be looking at maybe five or so years since SF3, or at the very least 2-4 years. Luke looks like a pretty well seasoned fighter now with his scars. Still confused as to where his tattoos have gone. I'm sure Capcom just decided to get rid of them but I can't help but wonder if there's more to it. I'm probably overthinking it though. 

Luke looks totally different than he does in SF5. It also looks like a considerable amount of time has passed since SF5 (Luke has scars and Ryu's beard) so I'm pretty confident we've moved past SF3 in the timeline. 

One thing that I'm really happy about is that the aesthetic for the game so far remains colourful -- no washed out, grim, gritty bs. From the colours of Luke's V-effect, to the transition scene leading to the logo, heck even the lighting for Ryu & Luke, still was pretty colourful. For that, I'm thankful.

Akiman also drew a picture of beard Ryu in the early 2000's, it's almost like they wanted to redesign him a long time ago but were afraid of the backlash from SF purists who want SF to remain SFII forever.
 
Or Oro and Ryu were never master and student to begin with. Oro's just as delusion as Sakura who keeps calling herself Ryu's disciple when he's never taught her anything.

While at it, it would be nuts to also get a 3D collection down the line that features Tech Romancer, Rival Schools, Power Stone.... and potentially SF EX, too? I had lots of fun messing with that game's single-player modes.

SF6 is more of a "wait and see" thing, hope the eventual game doesn't look that grimy, but hey, at least they had the guts to finally put Ryu in a video game that's not Fortnite or Minecraft! The man even grew a beard after all these crossovers lol

This only affirms my opinion that people making DMC5 call comparisons need to see their optometrist. DMC5 characters look like real people. SF6 characters are still stylized.  SF6 has a more realistic look but it doesn't have the photorealistic look of DMC5.

I'm surprised at the some the bearded Ryu salt I'm seeing. For years we've been complaining about Capcom not moving things along. I personally happy to see signs that we are finally going past the Pre SF3 timeline. Besides you know the old look will be a costume anyway.

According to Oro's ending, Ryu will need 15 years to be ready to fight him/be a master in his own right etc., and I doubt SF6 takes place 15 years after 3S. So at best this is probably Ryu at the start of his Journey with Oro or they scratched that plot point. This is NOT Post-Oro Ryu IMO.

So quick Street Fighter 6 thoughts:
-The technical advancements have me impressed; pores, scars, whoa!
-My brain is still processing the visual style, I wanna see it in action & the other stylized characters. I really wanted anime stylized, but I gotta wait and see. I like it, but I don't know how committed to realism they will be for characters like Blanka,  Necro, etc will look
-Luke seems to have scars on his face & arms
-Despite being unsure of the semi-realism, I LOVE the style effect for Luke & Ryu. It seems like the SF3 urban style has returned, whoo!
-The transition makes me think the visual style will be in a good place, I wanna see huds and lifebars
-Not feeling the logo yet, hopefully they change it up
-The Fighting game collection made me lose my mind. I am gonna support the hell out of this since this may be Darkstalkers last chance. Liking the new art with Leo and Morrigan.

Urien being bronze with white hair is just a retcon to make him stand out more and not be another blonde white guy. Hardly ruins the series' narrative. It's not that hard to believe SF3 Kolin can fight really. Don't see how Gill's actions are any different than in SF3 other than him interacting with the wider world of SF which was a given when they decided to bring him back. Sean having a sister has been a thing since New Generation fact files.  Not going to really bother going into the rest of your post, but just like every other attempt I've seen to justify why SF3 should be retconned/rewritten I still so no reason why it should actually happen other than just a personal 'I want it to' thing. None of the 'changes' you listed affect the lore of the series in any meaningful way and is a drop in the ocean compared to the other things they've directly tied SF5 and SF3 together with. 

Shinkiro's not the artist. Also Ryu's a manlet so he'll look embarrassing next to Kyo, Iori, K', Shun'ei and Terry. If he had a beard he'd look less of a wimp next to them.
 
  

 
Sean's family was introduced in this book. Laura didn't have a name at the time. There's a few things in SFV that came from this book, one example being Ibuki's sporty costume. 

We've already gone past SF3 within 5 itself so I fail to see why Capcom would reboot it. I would (obviously) hate to see 3 rebooted as I think it was a pretty good story all things considered and it'd be a shame to see everything it did be erased for no real reason. This is also ignoring all the stuff 5 did to setup towards it like Oro taking an interest in the idea of someone like Ryu, Sean meeting Ken and becoming a fan of him, Chun Li adopting Li Fen etc. I mean seriously, why would they reboot it after building up to AND passing it in 5?
 
And chances are it'll be mostly new stuff anyway in 6 due to everything they've set up in 4 and 5 needing a conclusion, but that's Capcom's fault more than anything. Just because it might be set after 3 doesn't mean it has to immediately follow on from it. I imagine most of that game's storylines to just become side stuff while Luke and whatever he's doing takes prominence. Like, we're not having Gill and the Illuminati be the villain of 6. If anything he's probably going to be the new Bison who's manipulating stuff from the shadows who the characters relating to him try to stop while Luke deals with the new threat.
