    Same, that's part of the big confusion I've had for a few years. I can understand things change, but it looks like they were scrambling to fix something multiple times. With how close in canon SF3 is and how so many new plot points popped up, it's jarring that nothing's answered as Midgarsorm mentioned. As you pointed out, Scotia, they appeared to be moving towards something each season but then spun around. With how Necalli was ultimately nothing major and how G is tied to Rose's worst fears, they've got something super important brewing (even the interview with Nakayama said the team is excited at seeing how people are trying to tie G, Q, and the G project together), but just as G is getting started with a fancy space station, boss-worthy stage filled with fans and minions, and Rose confirming that he's not what he appears to be and is the end of all things, we're hitting the end of the game and the final character seems to be pointing to SF6's future. It's frustrating. I wonder how much of the story focus' shifting was due to the alleged drama behind the scenes? I do hope that things are smoothed out lore wise for SF6 now that it seems the current team's synergy is better.

    Edit: Also, with Alex, he BETTER not be shafted. That would suck. I just hope that Luke being a "key player" means he's part of the protag posse but not shoving Alex out of the way. If Alex is large and incharge and Luke joins on his quest along the way, I'd be fine with that.

    So what? He's still not Kyo, thank goodness.
    Anyway, SFV ends opening a whole array of new mysteries and LEAVING open ALL of them; classic Capcom.
    Who or what is G? They had to use ROSE, who wasn't even scheduled until the last season, just to reveal he's indeed SFV's last boss; too bad he... hasn't done ANYTHING actually bad apart from... I don't know, ominously hinting we're all gonna die? Come on!
    What is Neo Shadaloo up to? They seemed willing to kidnap Ryu for who knows what purpose, judging by the CapcomCup 2017 trailer.
    Is Mad Gear really plotting something?
    All forgotten and swept under the rug like the big role NECALLI seemed being destined to play in the very first SFV trailer. Tons of big ideas and still nothing actually moves forward, that's the impression SFV leaves on me.

    Some of the SFV ladder and some of the SFI can be what ifs. The others are representations or retcons of preexisting endings (like SFZ Guile and SF2 Sagat). Some even are expanded versions of the endings, like SF4 Vega where we know that he has "defeated" Juri.

    Also, Nakayama mentions in an interview that the intention was "to recreate past content that left a strong impression with our fans", and, from what we could see in AE, the recreation of  those endings was part of this strong impression.  Guess Vega committing suicide wasn't....

    You know what's the problem with the suicidal trailer?

    SF5 confirms that Nash's SFZ2 death is the canon one at least 4 times:
    - A trailer;
    -Nash's story mode;
    -Vega's story mode;
    -A Shadow Falls
    -Nash's SFZ ladder ending.

    Besides the trailer itself, how many times over the past 12 years (JEEEEZUS!) "Vega committed suicide with a explosion" was mentioned in SF4? Or even after that?

    Answer: NONE!

    And they had quite a few chances to do so, like in the SF4/SSF4 artwork book, SSF4, SSF4AE, USF4, SF5, the Shadaloo C.R.I. profiles, SF5 AE, USF2, Street Fighter 30th Anniversay Collection, SF5CE, How to Design Capcom Fighting Characters, Street Fighter Beyond the World, Street Fighter - Those Stronger Than Me (the artbook sold at the SF exhibition), and I didn't even counted the compilations like Artworks Ha and Artworks Kiwami.

    How many times Capcom showed (or referred to) us Gouki defeating/killing Vega after the explosion trailer was released?
    -USF2 (the latest installment of SF2. they could have just removed the SGS scene if they didn't want it there. but... guess what, Capcom even REVAMPED it from HD Remix with Vega throwing the cape before being SGS. Just like they did wth the Hyper SF2 Anniversary Edition);
    -SF5AE (Gouki's SF2 path ending is the only one that shows Vega mortally wounded);
    -SF 30th Anniversary Collection (although I don't count those profiles as canon because of inconsistencies, it does mention Vega losing to Gouki. Capcom of Japan even reprinted the All About Street Fighter book in their collector's edition with the real SF japanese story);
    -The 2019 April Fools joke with G. It shows Gouki SGS Vega.

    Honorable mention: Daigo Ikeno mentions that Vega's alterate, torn, costume in SF4 was designed after his fight with Gouki. Who knows if Ikeno knew about the suicidal trailer.

    Can Capcom change their mind and say that Vega commited suicide, with or without fighting Gouki? Yes they can! It's their franchise. But that's not the message they are sending at the moment. And... to be honest, I highly doubt they will touch with that part of the story again....

    Er... wrong again.

    Did you forget this timeline released in 2018 from SF Beyond the World book (it also touches on the Shoryuken discussion you guys were also having)? Here you clearly can see that SFZ3 and SF2 are separate events that happens at separate times:

    1: Chronology of events during the Street Fighter series
    2: The events occurring during the Street Fighter series are connected, and constitute a very long story. Here we have loosely sorted these events, separated by game.
    Moreover, you should pay attention to the events occurring in character endings that contradict the general story. Furthermore, as the story of Street Fighter EX takes place in a parallel setting, we’ve left it out¹.
    3: Time of the works
    4: Works
    5: General events
    6: 1987
    1991
    7: Date uncertain
    8: Ryu and Ken, seeking to become the “strongest fighter”, depart to battle street fighters.
    9: Ryu beats Sagat with a Shoryuken. Sagat vows revenge.
    10: Vega travels the world, searching for strong fighters.
    11: The “Psycho Drive”, a weapon that would supply Vega’s body with unlimited Psycho Power, becomes operational.
    12: The Psycho Drive is destroyed by the fists (it could also be interpreted as efforts) of various/several fighters, and Shadaloo is officially declared destroyed.
    13: Vega starts the “Living Incubator” project, that would develop new substitute bodies for him.
    14: Abel is born as an artificial man, and is rescued by Nash. Nash subsequently disappears.
    15: The World Fighting Championship is organized by Shadaloo - which now acts in the shadows (in secret). Vega is after Ryu’s body, who defeated Sagat.
    16: S.I.N’s CEO Seth rebels against Shadaloo.
    17: S.I.N is destroyed.
    18: Bison rescues the young Ed from S.I.N’s ruins.
    19: Sagat estranges himself from Shadaloo.
    F.A.N.G takes Sagat’s former place among the Four Kings.
    20: Shadaloo launches the “Black Moons Project”. NY’s zone is struck by a violent electromagnetic wave and plunges into chaos.
    21: The Kanzuki house calls fighters from all over the world to help.
    22: Through the fighters's fist, they crush the “Black Moons Project”. Shadaloo is destroyed again.
    23: Chun Li becomes the guardian of the young hacker Li Fen.
    24: Ed leaves Balrog and forms his own independent organisation.
    25: Tom, Alex’s guardian, is attacked by a mysterious blonde fighter.
    26: Li Fen, the girl Chun Li took into care, is abducted by a mysterious organisation.
    27: Alex begins his trip to avenge Tom.
    28: Hugo and Poison found the new pro-wrestling group Huge Wrestling Army
    29: Alex departs once again to test himself.
    ¹ So… EX’s characters are canon (otherwise they wouldn’t have mentioned Darun’s role in ASF), but their games’ story isn’t.

    Thanks to @Miðgarðsormfor the translation (back in 2018).

    No, you're not. That was the 3rd promo trailer for the SF4 released on late february of 2009.

    I dunno if Sagat's role is still valid for Zero 3, since he's still with Shadaloo in SF2, leaving the organization during/after the tournament. That backstory (with Vega asking him to go back to Shadaloo) would fit better for SF4.

    Rose's story intrigues me the most so far out of a majority of SFV characters. It did two things for me which I discussed with Midgardsorm. For one the whole reboot concept is something I didn't expect although I was thinking it may not be alluding to a reboot per say. I was thinking that SFV Rose is either projecting her memories to her past self and her past self misinterprets the doomsday as Bisons doing but it is in fact Gs doing ....or they're actually setting up for a reboot of some sort. Also it establishes G's importance to the story. If he is indeed the Fool card as Rose states than that means the Fool card has transitioned from Ryu to G. The Fool card was one that represents a profound change. Ryu was originally the Fool card as he was the one destined to defeat Bison, but now since he's fulfilled that the Fool card is now represented by a new character.  If G is supposed to represent a new change and Rose is getting bad vibes from him than there's definitely more than meets the eye to him. G doesn't seem like a threat at first glance but you can tell there is something dubious about him. The fact that we know very little about him makes him more interesting because you have to speculate about the character. Rose's story actually made me more interested about G (and by extension Q) to the point I feel like @Shockdingo trying to come up with different theories on who or what he is and what his place in the future of SF is.

    As promised, let's start off with Red Earth:
    -Leo was modelled after the tokusatsu superhero, The Extraordinary Lion-Knight (快傑ライオン丸/Kaiketsu Lion-Maru), a Lion Knight who battles against evil across the Sengoku (warring states) period of Japan. Just like Leo, he could even change the element his sword emitted, eg fire, and its properties to suit him at any given situation.

    -The man you have to thank for writing the stories of SFA+SF3, Darkstalkers, CVS' dialogue and Resident Evil's stories of the 2000's is a man named Haruo Murata. He envisioned Alpha originally as being a alternate universe from the SF2+3 world and originally had wanted to see Charlie as not the same man that Guile was friends with, as a result this was why he gave Charlie a happy ending in Alpha 3. He also didn't want to give character specific birthdays and too much backstory for the Alpha games in comparison to Darkstalkers because in his words:
    "I want the player to imagine and create the world freely on their own terms, so I stopped making such an intrusive setting."

    -He also had doubts in whether he should have included Guile to replace Charlie in Alpha 3's base roster saying "At first, I was very careful about how to include Guile into the setting, so I was told that if I put out Guile in Alpha 3, I would break the story completely". Ultimately, he wrote Guile's story as him chasing Charlie for most of it so that it wouldn't conflict with Charlie's own story except for the ending being different between the two.

    -In addition, he envisioned the Alpha series as being a sort of dream match where the players would muse on the battle they'd have as  "maybe this might have occurred in the past"  and that the worldview wasn't supposed to be cohesive, only from the perspective of the player character.

    -The staff in SF3 already had a image of what Sakura would have gotten up to during the events of the game, being  "active as an member of society, running around with a mobile phone in one hand, whilst wearing a business suit alongside a headband and gloves in both hands" according to an interview in Gamest Guide volume 77

    -Cammy already having a name in Alpha 3 contradicts the original backstory she had in SF2. On a stormy night, she was found caught
    in a mudslide that had occurred beside a special operations unit of the British Intelligence Department and was protected at the base. She had lost her memory and so had no knowledge of her identity but she was nicknamed "Cammy" from the letters "CAMM-740106" on the pendant tying up her belongings. She had shocked those at the base by somehow being able to make a full recovery of her wounds within one week.

    So whether or not that this stage is canon, it's showing that his FooTube is definitely making bank, especially since Gill decided it was notable enough to use for his unveiling. So if he's now got fans, casual fans, hate-watchers and tons of cash, his influence is growing more and more and he has more to play with. I really hope this story thread of his continues.

    One of my main theories is that G has a combo of loyal followers and mind controlled ones. So Q was possibly rebellious, that's why he may be locked into his helmet, while G & his followers have a mask with a strap that seemingly can be easily removed.

    Interesting things about the trailer:
    -Ring of Galaxy Stage - look out Karin, G's got his own spacestation
    -We're getting a "mystery costume"
    -"The World if yours for the taking"
    -All the staff appear to be well well dressed men in G's story costume mask, with a yellow armband that says staff
    -There's pictures of the globe everywhere, but "G" on the throne-looking things
    -Is there a significance to G's 70s look? I know the CPT costumes are usually for fun, but could this be some 70s, flower-power, cult reference?
    -Stage has two gigantic statues of default costume G angled to appear to be holding up Earth
    -Random astronauts floating in stage
    -Probably nothing, but all of the "refueled" costumes give the characters the Capcom blue and yellow, but they all seem to have yellow eyes.

    I do love the 3D models that SFV has going on right now. Much more improved than SFIV's 3D models. This kind of look gives SF its uniqueness.
    With MK and Injustice going for the most realistic looking character models, more more stylized but still some realistic aspects of 3D fighters like Tekken and DoA, Street Fighter's 3D models being more stylized than realistic, and then the 2D look of anime fighters.

    Dang, they're not leaving the story behind, I'm even more excited for Rose now!

    Is there anything else you’d want people to know ahead of the final season?

    Nakayama-san: In one of the previous answers, I mentioned that we’ve included numerous hints, but there are still undiscovered secrets on the following topics: Zeku and Strider; Q and G, [and] The United States Air Force and Byron Taylor

    Also, when incorporating Gill into SFV, we took into consideration his role within the story. In past titles within the series, we had parallel storylines where the ending would change depending on who won. However, since SFV doesn’t follow that same narrative style, we utilized Gill as a character who appears as an embodiment of what that opponent desires. For Kolin, it’s peace for her country. For Urien, it’s a brother. For Ryu, it’s a stronger opponent.

    In the Street Fighter timeline, this title precedes the events of Street Fighter III, but for certain characters, their stories of what happens after Street Fighter III are also told. Connecting the dots and maintaining consistency was a challenge, but the addition of new characters and mysteries allowed us to move into the future. When Rose’s story is exposed, new truths may come to light.
