  1. Honestly I think the G discussion misses the point a bit. A fully-powered G-unleashed IF he were to be the boss, absolutely could be. What people are missing is that a boss doesn't need to be bad/evil. G could simply HOST the tournament and be the boss for it. There'd be nothing wrong with that. In fact, story-telling-wise that gives you an opportunity to build up various rivalries and 'side' fights in the tournament being the culmination of arcs without "all roads lead to Bison" syndrome. G could, for instance, just be the boss for Luke but others could lead elsewhere for the end of their storymodes. That would be a good idea too because it might let us see how people lose/drop-out of the tournament so it would actually make the tournament flow MAKE SENSE. That was a huge boon to Mortal Kombat where, even though the tournament STRUCTURE made no sense, people were able to follow the flow of events of the tournament in MK9. SF has lacked that FOREVER by refusing to reveal tournament details. This could be similar to KOF2003 where the Ikari team ends up fighting Adelheid but the Three Treasures team fight Mukai. Hell, it could be a nice change of pace and help be a good step back from the insane, insipid stakes of SF5 which just came off as Saturday-morning cartoon stupidity. The comparison with Garou was correct...it did more by doing less. It took a step back and returned to roots. That said, give me Retsu!
  2. I am honestly totally okay with 50-60% new characters or even a bit higher. I have gone through enough nostalgia games. Either bring in some characters that have been missing a long time (Seriously, I want Remy back with a bit of a move touch-up and make him look like he does in his art) and bring in new characters. Keep some classic 'anchor' characters but push the series forward. Garou, Tekken and MK have all successfully done it. Then you can bring in some classics alongside new or reimagined characters as part of DLC to build hype
  3. @CESTUS IIIAs a massive HnK fan, I have to point out the HUGE difference here... Check out someone like Kenshiro Kenshiro is jacked AF but his proportions are LEAN. His broad shoulders create a V-shaped torso that leads to lithe, athletic legs that have superhero proportions so they are longer than normal (with a smaller head). This emphasizes both strength and speed. Kenshiro's arms are huge, but his shoulders are not gorilla-sized nor is his torso barrel-shaped like Ryu. Instead, he has a lean core of a fighter that can move. Kenshiro looks like a classic image of a black & white Mr. Olympia. A physical superman. Current Ryu looks like a roided up caveman. If SF went back to its HnK inspired roots it would MASSIVELY benefit SF in the art department. In fact, check out current art in KOF15 and you'll see proportions WAY closer to Kenshiro above.
  4. @DaemosHonestly, if SF unveiled a video teaser that looked visually as close to Dragon Ball Z as Dragon FighterZ does in the art style of the animated movie and put "IN GAME FOOTAGE" on it, it would explode in popularity and people would not give a damn about Guilty Gear. Especially not normies. Yes comparisons would be made to both FighterZ and Guilty Gear inevitably, but people would go "YEAH BUT IT LOOKS COOL!" and would immediately stop caring. No one cares when something is copied and looks great. Not really. Especially since it is directly a translation of something SF already did so it's not like its reinventing the wheel to 'imitate' GG when it's just going back to roots. A teaser/trailer should wow people and unfortunately, visually, this teaser does not do that ESPECIALLY since it just invites comparisons to previous Capcom entries like RE and DMC. At least if it was in a 'cel' style it would create discussion of "Whoa! Can they make it look as good or better than GG/DBFZ?!" where-as this is just "Oh. RE engine. Neat" Your branding insight is spot on and it's good to hear someone with experience echo my own (admittedly layman) take on the logo and its presentation.
  5. Alright I've had time to digest everything and here's what my take away is... First of all, the logo is straight-up embarrassing. No, beyond that...it's pathetic. I actually feel slightly insulted to be presented that as a serious thing I like the general design of Luke and Ryu just fine but the proportions are not good and they look VERY rubbery...especially Ryu. Looks strange. Not sure why considering other RE engine stuff looks far more natural I hate that Ryu just looks like shirtless, bearded Chris from RE6. He does not look like a skilled fighter..he looks like a caveman brute which will then force 'big' characters to be overinflated fatasses just like in SF5 and 6. I do NOT understand this obsession with super huge Ryu. It is coming off as absolutely pathological at this point as if it's some kind of bizarre fetish or inferiority complex. I don't get it. Just STOP, Capcom. All that said, this is VERY early stuff. Like 'mock up' level so it's impossible to judge anything seriously other than to say "don't go down this road". There's all the time in the world for things to change. As far as the ultra realism? Meh. Never been a fan for SF. This is closer to MK than Guilty Gear and MK looks WORSE than Guilty Gear by a big margin from character designs to aesthetic to animations...so I have a knee-jerk reaction towards things like that. On the other hand, it also reminds me of Tekken and Tekken does really well with its style...so we'll see. Can it translate to SF characters? Honestly with the amount of vibrancy and color SF characters embody to make their designs work? Ehhh I actually doubt it. So yeah, not calling doomsday on anything at all because that would be CRAZY premature, but still willing to call a spade a spade when it comes to the stylistic stuff I don't like. Oh but I AM saying the logo is awful. We deserve an apology for that insult.
  6. It being "in-development" conflicts with it being "in-game footage". Yes it might be an "in-game" engine being used to make those graphics (which I do not doubt considering what the RE engine is capable of) but that does not mean that is what the in-game finished graphics will look like AT ALL. Graphical style can MASSIVELY change how a game looks within an engine
  7. Yup much closer to Tekken One thing to consider though is that there is ZERO guarantee this is what the in-game graphics will look like. This might just be a mock-up for trailer purposes.
  8. RE6 engine eh? Not gonna complain about that! Halfway decent teaser. Nothing unexpected but nothing bad either. If this is Ryu's look going forward I have ZERO problem with it especially considering it's got a bit of a callback to his dad if you think about it. Gouken was known for his beard after all
  9. Early datamining suggests KOF All Star characters will be: Ryu, Chun-Li, Akuma, Vega and Luke
  10. Capcom and SNK are crossing over again! Street Fighter V is coming to King of Fighters All Star mobile game! Not gonna even try to lie, any time SF and KOF interact I get hyped AF
  11. With Luke being intro'd we're not getting a reboot of any kind. I'd expect an SF6 that's a retake on SF3...and I don't mean storyline-wise. They're going to try to do a 'next generation' SF again like what MK did with MKX
  12. Oh I've sold everything I own twice already then bought back in later. My buddy has an INSANE collection though including at least 1 unopened box of every set and the entire set of the power 9
  13. As someone that has played MtG off and on since Alpha, I will at least say these are mechanically interesting. I kind of love Guile for the 'charge' mechanic
  14. I was not familiar with this stuff at all other than the male secretary design. That Rugal Infinity is crazy. Glad they kept it simple for my fav fighting game boss
  15. Ok so time for issue 3 of Super Street Fighter II manhua! We open up with Ken and Ryu facing off. Shear happenstance has made Ryu the first opponent for Ken. It also says that in this the SF tournament is held every two years. Ryu throws a hadoken and Ken notes it is even stronger when they last fought 3 years ago (so Ryu & Ken did not fight each other in the SF1 tourney). Facing down the Hadoken, Ken flashes back to sparring with Ryu and being smashed by a hadoken that he tried to counter with a dragon punch. Instead he got thrown a hundred years into a tree. He tries a hurricane kick and Ryu shoryuken's him out of it. With Ken knocked down again, Ryu tries to help him back up only to be stopped by a senior of Ken and Ryu's... Dan Yes, I'm serious. It looks like Dan. Ryu even calls him 'master', addressing him as a senior brother. Dan gives Ryu pointers on how to improve his shoryuken and hadoken. In retrospect, this is hilarious. Ken is rather ignored but is apparently used to it. Ken goes out to hang out alone at a bar but Ryu finds him and they chit-chat and reassert their friendship with each other. Later on, Ken is preparing to leave his training and things get WEIRDER He goes to a secluded little building in the forest to say goodbye to a man he 'greatly respects'...his master 'Akuma'. Wut? Akuma and Ken apparently have an on-going chess game going and Akuma is bitter that Ken is leaving. Sad Akuma. This is surreal. Akuma seems to tell Ken not to give up martial arts and Ken agrees to keep learning but to do so back home after Akuma tells him that Ken actually has better battle wisdom than Ryu. Akuma decides on his chess move...and Ken outmaneuvers him with a quick move of his own. Akuma laughs and congratulates Ken on his chess skills. Ken successfully shoryukens the hadoken and breaks it apart before the two clash with hurricane kicks. It's revealed that Akuma is watching them and he's called a 'hero'! However Akuma then suffers serious pain in his head due to unknown causes. Ken and Ryu part in a draw and Ryu senses Akuma and tries to find him but he's already gone. Ryu talks about Akuma being afraid of fighting in competition and that Ryu will DEFINITELY find him. Ryu seems to have personal bad blood with Akuma. The 2nd day of the competition dawns... In Bison's skyscraper he's watching multiple screens with footage of the previous days battles and he takes special interest in one fighter in particular... GUILE! Bison, standing along with Vega and Sagat (who are both in cloaks) tells Sagat he'll have to watch out for Guile...Sagat, however, is lost in thought about Ryu. Bison receives confirmation that all the weapons from the cruise ship have now been delivered to him. Bison states that this means that with that shipment, his total arsenal is now SEVERAL TIMES greater than that of ANY NATION. Geez, I know we're SLIGHTLY post-apocalyptic, but that's nuts! We also find out that the men in the meeting with Bison from issue 2 (including the man in the eyepatch) are apparently the three richest men on Earth, all of whom have thrown in with Bison. We get a bunch of backstory here... The island is called Neverland and was created as a symbol of peace after the wars that ravaged parts of the planet. The worldwide Street Fighter competition was meant to be almost like the Olympics and promote peace. Bison, however, immediately subverted it to smuggle weapons all over the world. With this in place, the 3 Richest Men believe they can seize control and direct the future of the injured Earth. The fat cats gloating is interrupted by a roar that scares them...Bison tells them to calm down and reveals to them his 'secret weapon' he had shipped to the island... In a cage, it's Blanka. We then see Cammy searching another area on the island of Neverland. Despite her stealth, she's grabbed by Guile and she mistakes him for an enemy but then recognizes him. Seems they're working together to try and find someone. Using a detector device, Guile finds their target in a castle nearby on the island...but as they try to get there they're interrupted by the sudden appearance of Akuma who Guile notes must be a 'master' because of how fast his movement was to get in front of them. Guile takes out one of the battle badge/coin things the fighters are collecting by fighting each other and just throws it to Akuma, assuming he is a challenger. Guile doesn't care about fighting him and is happy to give the coin away. Akuma catches it then reveals he has far more coins than Guile and isn't interested in them! Akuma says he doesn't care about taking Guile's coin and, instead, he wants a 'real battle'! He throws his collection of coins at Guile with 'the strength of bullets from a shotgun'... And issue 3 ends Okay so that was interesting. We're getting more world-building and character stuff. Pretty densely packed actually. HIGHLIGHT of the issue - the mysterious bad-ass portrayal of Dan! Like wtf! Dan is portrayed as more mysterious and cool than AKUMA! It's so weird but very neat
  16. https://www.amazon.com/Street-Fighter-Gaiden-Itou-Mami/dp/1926778154/ref=sr_1_2?crid=1KCZDC647AXKB&keywords=udon+gaiden&qid=1644558511&sprefix=udon+gaiden%2Caps%2C84&sr=8-2 Just as a heads up, this collection has that full gaiden
  17. Is this the Cammy Gaiden you mean? I actually have this one printed by Udon as part of a 2 part gaiden collection they released.
