  1. Dan making it to a FF boss would imply he's above Hugo AND Poison who went from the 2nd weakest grunt in the game to now being able to spar with Cody. Dan will always be a loser, not just in martial arts but life in general.
  2. Ken dyed his hair and became a delinquent because of his parents not getting along. Capcom's never stated that Ken's more talented than Ryu (in the games). In SF1 they were both called genius fighters. Ken being more talented than Ryu is an assumption fans make along with Ryu having no money or Gouken dying. Ken didn't go back to Japan to see Gouken he went back to fight Ryu. Sagat's defeat caused Ken and M. Bison to go to Japan. They never mention the costume issue with the ArcSys graphics. Doesn't matter how good it looks, if they can't make extra cash through costumes it's a waste of time especially when ArcSys games don't sell anywhere close to SF (or KOF even) without clinging to other companies IP's (DBZ).
  3. Most people in the west want the Ansatsuken users (Goutetsu, Gouken, Akuma, Ryu) to mirror the edgy Mishima/Hanma bloodline. Once they get their Goutetsu they'll start asking for Ryu.Jr in every article.
  4. In Akuma's SFIV ending 小僧の運命をけて・・・ (Kozō no unmei o kete) He calls Ryu a "boy".
  5. Pre-SFV he was definitely an orphan. In the SFIV movie they show a scene where Gouken finds him, then Ryu talks about Goutetsu and Akuma. But after SFV... It's possible that he is Akuma's son, but they'll leave ambiguous so fans will talk about it.
  6. Ryu and Ken are best friends yet Ryu rarely seeks out Ken for a fight or simply hang out.
  7. I like how even the writers at UDON, struggle to come up with a scenario where Ryu and Chun-Li would ever interact with each other outside of forced events caused by *insert evil organization"
  8. Serious or not, I find it weird how Chun-Li didn't get back up and chase him down. With her legs she can out run that out of shape blob with ease. The poster girl needs the SFV Zangief treatment for SFVI.
  9. That Alex ending is most likely non-canon. And even if it is, Zangief gets even more feats in the Christmas side story. https://game.capcom.com/cfn/sfv/column/131312 He turns to the larger shadowy figure (Zangief), who has yet to react to what is happening. ----------- Ken's trademark special move was a little different this time. It was fueled not only with his usual fighting spirit, but with everything he's got. His fist hit something that felt more like steel than flesh, but it was definitely a clean, direct hit. The intruder reeled from the force of the attack. However... Ken's strongest Shoryuken wasn't enough to knock Zangief out or knock him off his feet. What makes this feat even better is that Zangief wasn't battle ready and chose not to retaliate on a helpless Ken who just performed Shoryuken. Capcom made Zangief the coolest World Warrior in one game. If he had a disciple, Capcom would make him the main star like SNK did with Rock Howard or how Namco did with Jin Kazama. Instead we got Luke as the main guy who already has ties with Guile. That was dropped almost immediately. In Akira's story mode she's still eager to fight and hasn't changed/matured at all. Also Merry Christmas!
  10. It's a bit unfair to compare Luke to Alex when Luke's appeared in a game he wasn't supposed to be in. The most Capcom could do is establish his fighting style, connections and personality through his animations, voice lines and winquotes. His personality is already better than Ryu, Alex, Abel and Rashid. He's not a boring plank of wood like Ryu and Abel. He's not someone who'll run away from a fight like Rashid. And he's not copying Guile or Ryu when it comes to motivations like Alex does in SFIII. That's not true at all. He was a highly requested character throughout SFIV's lifespan, which resulted in him being the 1st DLC character. Japan, North America, it doesn't matter where you look, Alex is more popular and liked. It's from Street Fighter World Warrior Encyclopedia: Arcade edition
  11. Poison to Luke:「ふうん、ちょっとかわいいじゃないか。あたしの所で、男を磨くかい?」 It's the same thing.
  12. According to the wiki, Ken and his family attend church services every Sunday. This is during SFIII.
  13. The SFIV movie confirms that Ken doesn't do jack when it comes to helping Ryu survive out there. How can he help Ryu when he doesn't know where he is? Now that i think about it, we don't know anything about Ryu outside of fighting. How does he make money to travel? Does he have a secret home in Japan? There's no way he trains 24 7, even Goku has to rest his body after training.
  14. After A Shadow Falls, I'll take that over whatever Ryu or M. Bison does in anything ever again. SFIII handled Ryu and M. Bison perfectly. You only see Ryu in at most 2 endings other than that he's just CPU fodder in arcade mode, M. Bison's not in the game altogether. I'd love to see Ryu axed off but he's the face of fighting games, so M. Bison getting the boot is the next best thing. Various FG's introduced iconic villains and didn't shove them down our throats for 30 years (see, Fatal Fury, Tekken, KOF, SamSho, GG). Ryu's been a boring character for a very long time now. From a design perspective he's a basic karate man who doesn't represent the art faithfully. SFV is the most Karate he's ever been and I appreciate that, but he still looks like a clown compared to other Karate users in FG's.
  15. Ryu not being the protagonist and M. Bison not being the main villain/final boss automatically makes SFVI better than SFV.
  16. @6:13 imo Gill hasn't lost since he and the rest of the secret society are alive and well. They also hammer home how weak Urien is compared to Gill so there's no way Urien's 3rd Strike ending is canon. In Gill's character story they address him as an Emperor (天帝, Tentei) and the title is The Emperor Doesn't Look Back. So this is after New Generation/2nd Impact where Urien becomes the president and Gill achieves the rank above him. With how popular the SFIII characters are now compared to back in the day, I don't think they're going to off-screen Gill and the rest of the SFIII cast. Ed and Menat were designed to be "new generation" fighters for season 2, so they're also in the same group as SFIII.
  17. When he talks about Laura's ending he also mentions Ed's: Laura, Ed and Falke's endings focus on what they desire. Ed respects Balrog and wants to surpass him, Falke wants to live a normal quiet life with Ed. Laura wants to see Sean succeed. Ed surpassing Balrog may not happen according to Nakayama but it's Ed's dream, so this probably applies to Falke and Laura. I can't find the Rose related tweets.
  18. According to the director, some character stories are set during SFIII or after. The only one i can think of is Gill's character story. EDIT: In the same thread he talks about Neo Shadaloo and reveals the Gorillas name.
  19. It's less to do with A Shadow Falls sucking but more to do with avoiding SFIII at all costs. They'll make more money rehashing the same old boring Satsui no Hadou/Shadaloo revenge story line than moving forward with the Illuminati or G. I know SFIII was a flop but that was 24 years ago.
