  1. I hope if he returns, it isn't as an enemy/rival to K'. If his memories are of the original Krizalid, I think he definitely would have deserted NESTS and joined Whip. Maybe a Kriz/Khronen/Angel team for XVI I think Shen and Duo are extremely likely as season 2 DLC considering how they ranked high both in a fan poll and a one SNK made. @DaemosI'd say SNK mostly had a nice approach to their villains though one could argue that having a new boss every game was getting tiring by XIII. I think having them dead or defeated adds to its story. But SNK themselves admitted that killing off CYS and Kriz in their debuts was one of their biggest regrets. Makes me wonder how CYS would be in NESTS or who their 4th member would be.
  2. I forgot Verse and a good bunch of the XIV newcomers existed and would like to continue to forget they ever existed.
  3. A Rugal v Adelheid match up would be great. As far as the story is concerned, Botan might as well have never existed since Ash's reset meant that she's just a ordinary person as seen in XIII's ending. A shame since it has been rumoured that she and Shroom were going to be Ash's teammates. But considering how Shen and Duo Lon regained their memories of Ash, it might be possible she regained hers though whether she's still loyal to Saiki or not is the question.
  4. Likely case scenario it will just a extension of her SF3 self where she shows signs of aging like stretching her back etc, probably with some KOF Vanessa-esque mannerisms. @CESTUS III I'd say Antonov was good. Last time a boss was good before that was Mukai and Clone Zero. I think Rugal's suit from 94's first phase was the best but then the CVS sprite messed him up a bit when they actually made that his de facto look there.
  5. What I hate about time zones is that everybody has already said what I wanted to say... It's too early to say but Ryu looks off in SF6, he looks stretched a bit and the textures do look off putting. Personally, I think the new logo looks like Scooby Doo's collar and just doesn't scream SF's usual gritty looks, "street" if you will.
  6. Yep. The SVC one and the Maximum Impact manhuas were translated officially into English.
  7. I didn't even know Alpha 3 got a manhua and by Capcom vs SNK do you mean the SVC: Chaos one with the infamous "Geese rides a mammoth" scene and where Zero is an arch-angel? Looking forward either ways.
  8. I was always aware of SNK because of CVS2 and of how prevalent their games are when using the arabic side of the Internet but 99 was what really got me into it. I remember being blown away when getting the secret Kyo fight on top of the stellar presentation and tense atmosphere. I live in Britain, so nobody knows what KOF is but I hear London had a dedicated Garou scene. I'd say in terms of PAL regions: France, Italy and especially North Africa are where KOF/Metal Slug is most well known. There were alot of 1997-2002 cabinets when I last visited Libya.
  9. I second this. When you get past the really strange, artstyle and fanfic tier plot elements, the manhua actually has some really nice elements. The scans are easily available in Cantonese by typing up the terms of KOF and Manhua in that language, not sure if the rest of RX is available since the 00 arc is the only one there. I love the artstyle of that one. I remember there was a website that had most of them fan translated into Arabic (likely lost to the sands of time) and the conclusion of 2000, in which everybody sets aside their differences to confront Clone Zero and reactions of Team Fatal Fury and AOF to Southtown's destruction (something that in-game, they don't care for) is probably the stand out element. It's clear that Seto was in contact with SNK staff since Shion, Magami and Shroom appeared in the manhua months before XI released. Zillion is also a very interesting alternate take on NESTS with the organisation creating a data form of Chris' brain to create Orochi clones and two of the antagonists early being based off rejected Maxima designs.
  10. I don't particularly like his Alpha 3 art, I felt that was when his work on the Marvel games seeped into his ordinary art and the colouring became more washed out. 1996-early 98 with SFEX1-2, XMVSF/MVSF, Vampire Saviour and Plasma Sword were the best out of his works. I still prefer Kinu Nishimura and Akiman to him personally (Daigo's pre 3rd strike stuff was good too) and for non-fighting game artists I really like Hideki Ishikawa and Haruki Suetsugu
  11. it's the same as MvC2 without the pirate map filter especially when you look at the women. Characters lack volume+look flat and there's more an emphasis on wilder expressions.
  12. Really strange that his art hasn't evolved or changed at all since MvC1, 24 years ago... Plasma Sword was the last time he was actually high quality.
  13. So while not necessarily relevant, somebody has been trying to hack into CPS2 to alter sprite files etc, if it ever gets to the point that text editing becomes feasible, then it means that it's entirely plausible that there's a chance to make a patch for the CPS2 era games that retranslate the script and even add back the Japan only stuff like continue hints or partner specific quotes in MvSF...
  14. It must be either one of the Secret File pamplets released alongside the game's release or guides, because I do remember seeing screenshots of the passages being posted here. The Secret Files are in Japanese and only the Alpha 2 one has been translated here (I 've got some notes on the other games that I might drop here when I get time to organise them, most interesting of all is that Battle Circuit was quickly scraped together from a almost complete racing game and info on scrapped characters for MvC1). I mentioned it in my return post for this place but Haruo Murata, the writer for the SF games, mentions that Guile was going to be in the base roster instead of Charlie, which might explain why Charlie's Alpha 2 death is portrayed as the canon one in SFV. It's possible Alpha 3 would have had the console only characters already with full assets as the arcade version was being worked on. Similar to Huitzil+Cecil in Vampire Saviour Alpha 3 had a troubled development period, the story goes that Takayuki Iwai, head composer, wanted to install Redbook audio onto the CPS2 to allow for arranged tracks but couldn't do so leading him to assemble all the arcade staff to quickly do the ost. The CPS2 only had 23mb while SNK regularly used larger ROMs to allow for it. It might have been expensive but had Capcom used larger ROM sizes for their later games, maybe they would have gotten to use their scrapped plans.
  15. Well, K9999 maimed Foxy in 01 (but she survived) However from the XV website, Kula seems to have gotten into a disagreement with K' and ran away. Leaks say she joined Krohnen and Angel when she was offered ice cream. It appears that Kronhen either is an alternate K9999 formed from Ash's reset or the original K9999 finally coming out of hiding.
  16. Not that I'm aware of. I know the UDON staff that work on the SF comics are very active on Twitter, and I'm sure there's a comics thread somewhere in the general discussion board. But we have discussed UDON plenty of times here and we do have some UDON fans as regulars for this thread so discussion on the storylines and elements of that comic are definitely welcome here, I guess.
  17. It's a wonder that Kyo's parents haven't tried pressuring him to marry Yuki or actually make a living.
  18. I think the Dolls are strong enough that they could easily tackle the normal martial artist/Dan tier but getting to the tier of characters like the major ones (Zangief, Cammy, Rose etc) they wouldn't win out. I think the Dolls might be one of the few cases of "minion" type characters who actually are competent somewhat and don't get beaten at every little thing. Closest Capcom example is probably Bass.
  19. From the source it's from the SF2 Movie so that may not be canon with what Capcom's own version of Dhalsim goes with. So it may be something in Hinduism According to the article, those 3 elements do make up the 5 essential elements Inn the religion and they connect to the 5 senses of the human body, different elements can be merged to create new elements which in turn can enhance the human body.
  20. There is that dumb leak floating around that Angel will partner up with Kula and Nameless. While Oda did say two of the characters would be surprises, I don't think it will be Nameless. And if we go off what Oda has said on K9999, his disappearance is not for the reason you'd expect. Betty and Kula are guaranteed and I guess Maxima too. Looks like Kim might just miss XV
  21. If you ask me, Ryu works best as a "viewpoint" character. Like he isn't the main hero of the story but he's the character that will pop up occasionally, do his thing and then leave. That's basically what he was from his inception up until SF4. SF2 and Alpha chronicled the machinations of Shadaloo and the people their schemes affected, SF3 was all about Alex. Ryu's struggle with the SnH and fighting against his fate as a slave to Anatsuken' s power and Bison's pawn was always the B plot and that got resolved in ASF. Preferably, SF6 should focus on Ed/Luke/whoever with Ryu as a side focus as he finally moves on from the same plot threads he's had since 1996.
  22. The ending is a complete send up to a scene from Jojo according to the wikis. I know absolutely nothing about Marvel nor want to but Sakura and Omega Red were always, and still are, the go-to team in MvSF for me. Still weird that Sakura is considered low tier despite Shou'ouken being so busted there. Omega also has one of the best bgm's in Capcom's fighting game history too.
