    I know I’ve said this 100 times (and you are all probably tired of it), but, comeback mechanics actually remove comebacks, not enable them.
     
    the instant you start heavily rewarding failure, suddenly a situation where you are behind is no longer a disadvantage. 
     
    if you punch G enough that he gets VT, is he really behind? In fact the odds are in his favor, which means at that point it’s the “winning” player that needs to make a comeback.
     
    in short, fuck revenge meters.

    I generally really like the MK games approach to chip damage.
     
    also, if you are going to make chip a real thing, I would make it greater. In a lot of games nowadays chip is so inconsequential it doesn’t really matter.
     
    the big problem with anything specific to SFV is that the game has so many ill-fitting or half thought out mechanics, that tweaking one thing can cause everything else to implode.

    1. Grab four pillow cases
    2. fill one with rocks, one with broken glass, one with bees, and one with down.
    3. Have a friend randomly select one and beat you over the head with it.

    Always fine by me. If I'm gonna flail around, might as well hopefully entertain someone else while I'm doing it.
     
    Probably gonna shoot for tomorrow evening. Tonight is still 50/50 but I'm fucking exhausted so better to just take the day either way and plan for the more sure thing.

    I'm up for games sometime this week. Weds (tomorrow) is a bit up in the air but Thurs into the weekend seem open. I'll probably have forgotten whatever I practiced between now and then so hopefully I'll have some time to refresh. But if not I'll just do it live. 🙂

    I fucking love combos. In most games I play combo heavy characters for that reason.
     
    What SF5 (and SF4) get wrong, is that the "gateway" to those combos sucks.  Its just "I have VT" or "I have some meter". In other games, getting the opportunity to style like that is a more significant moment and makes it feel special.

    Even DFBZ with is crazy homogenous abare handles it better.

    Stun meter doesn’t deplete super fast like in SF4. It lets you maintain stun buildup of the opponent doesn’t honestly escape. So it’s not really the length of the stun bars that’s at play. I prefer that to the invisible stun than randomly 0’s out from other SF games.
     
    Though, gun to my head, I don’t like stun as a mechanic in its entirety and would do away with it in favor of something else.

    It was always going to happen.
     
    In my opinion now that developer specific circuits rule many of the games (which will probably continue to be so for the foreseeable future), it’s gonna be up to the developer to make a call.
     
    as I’ve said before, they either need to ban them officially or allow them. If they allow them, they need to make it a consideration when making the game, just like pads and sticks are considerations.
     
    unrelated, I played SFV for the first time in several months last night. My opinion hasn’t really changed. The game is fun (in small doses), but VT is still the worst mechanic ever and there are too many characters.

    That is something that doesn’t get enough credit (and SFV does well), having the inputs match what your brain thinks they should be.

    The slide link was weird for me as well, but I don’t really play tusk. There’s something strange with how the buffer works which makes LK come out instead of run.
     
    as far as manuals go (you said linker but I think you meant manual), I think the only really important one is the first hit after an opener. Openers don’t follow linker rules and work just like a link in SF. This usually means you have the full slate of double, linker, and manual options on that first break. This makes it hard to break and gives you the option to cash out right away. For characters with an EX damage ended (tusk) this does pretty good damage.

    it’s not so much predictable as not leveraging all you options. After a few rounds I noticed a couple of things about your break tendencies, notably you never break shadow moves and never used counter breaker. This let me reaction break a lot of the time (when I wasn’t being dumb). This meant I could pile on damage without to much fear of reciprocity.
     
    Another random note, sammamish is only invulnerable from the waist up, once I remembered that and went low for my meaties it took away your free wake up. Only the EX is invul, it’s a big weakness for thunder as he wants the meter for other things.
     
    meanwhile my reactions are generally pretty shit, so abuse the hell out it. Also, (and this is true for me as well), shadow counter is a powerful answer to autopilot cancel pressure.

    Neither.
     
    manuals are harder  to break but doubles do way more damage.
     
    in a perfect world you would do manuals to get the lockout and doubles for damage however, The reality is, your manual options are often quite limited. Some moves have really easy manual options so it’s good to know those.
     
    it’s also good to know if your character has any unbreakable routes.
     
    I’m speaking from memory as my muscle memory is long since gone, so I’m not doing a whole lot of manuals or anything overly tricky
