GG basics is up. The info card at the end didn't break out all the roman cancels, which is the part I really wanted. 😞 EDIT: * all RCs cost 50% tension (i.e. half your meter) * generate a shockwave which if connects slows opponent (a big clock graphic appears). * You can cancel the shockwave with an attack to just go straight into the next attack without the wave. * Input a dash before the RC and it'll slide in that direction, even through projectiles, etc. Colors: As your attack hits -- clockslow + causes high float during blowback blockstun - clockslow + blowback during your attack but not as it hits - no blowback just clockslow neutral - no blowback just clockslow but try dash xx RC While getting hit - can't RC that's what Burst is for.

I'd also put May and Giovanna in that rushdown category, but pretty much the whole cast looks like a mixup character to these old eyes. 🤯

I'm still stuck on finding a main in Strive. Ky seems obvious but boring in a "just Ryu" kind of way. I don't do freaks like Faust, Naggo and Milia seem difficult, Leo is a perfect storm of no. Maybe the new Ramlethal? I feel I know more about her than the rest of the cast cause of you guys, and it seems like most her playerbase is getting freed up due to the redesign.

idk any character whose super is spinning bird kick is pretty sus to me. Also Ky is Jesus shoto with a sword. Of course everyone knows how to play him.

(Thx Volt!) Yeah, what's the difference between a burst and a defensive Roman cancel? They do the same thing? Is GG a good game for pad? SF is a six button game so it isn't. I can't stand using shoulder buttons for attacks. But Strive is a 5 button game... What's the difference between punch button and kick button? In SF kicks have range while punch has less startup, usually. But with two weapon buttons....

Do we have any info regarding the system mechanics of Strive, or do I have to wait for that video to come out in a week? Surely it's in written form somewhere?

I'm actually warming up to it. I haven't played a GG since renting the original back in the stone age and kinda assumed it would disappear like most others. (Looking at you, Tobal and Psychic Force.) Never been a fan of the edgelord music (sorry AresWarlock) but idk now at least it's inoffensive. Still a bit too anime, what with May's voice being as squeaky as her dolphins. It does seem like a fine onramp into the series, though I recall Xrd was also called this and also a bit disliked by the GG faithful at the time? In any event, the dripfeed of intro vids works for me. My time is limited these days, so getting bitesized infodumps on each characters' basics while we await the release means that when I finally boot it up I'm ready to attack the combo trials or other single player content with a couple of possible mains. Riot fighter is still years away. SFV Rose has me feeling a certain kind of way, but I think I'm ready for something that isn't SF or Smash for awhile. I almost bit on GranBlue but ... lolies like Ferry etc I just can't take seriously. I avoid DoA too. At least May wears a sweatshirt.

Is Rose's V-Reversal gonna be that OP alpha counter which side-switches into free combo into super friends into gaining the spent meter right back? 😳

On the new mechanic of air to air normals causing counterhit into juggle: it might answer the criticism of AAing people just isn't punishing enough to discourage jumping in a seventh time.

I'm trying to figure out her game plan. Runaway fireball zoner? Long limb footsies? Satellite orbs rushdown? Extended Falke-combo setplay? I can see cases for all of these. Most of her specials seem to take awhile to end, even the air fireball has many total frames albeit in startup. It's hard to theorycraft here without having hard numbers. I don't even know what all the tarot cards system does or works, but there's a UI for it like Juri's stores, and some cards seem chargeable. Like, the Falke move seems to not "hit" the person, no damage, just recoil. So, is it unblockable? So many questions. (But not about Soul Spiral. It's a forward moving hitbox, so it'll be projectile invincible and safe on block, welcome to the world of Street Fighter V.)

BrianF video he says jabs might be safe when Shifted, so maybe Jab Fighter 4 has returned? Also if you call out a Shift, how to punish? How long is the parry active? Right now it looks like the parry starts frame 1. RIP frame traps and most of Cammy's "neutral". Also the "-2 mixup" may be dead. RIP Sakura
