  1. Lol, imagine Rose's antics to stop Bison end completely changing everything in the future for the possible worst.
  2. And as soon as the original Tumblr post was written, this just happened... Spooky
  3. You forgot the best part: Rose thinks she's finally going to get with Guy only to find out about his fiancee from Final Fight 2. Her next arc is to use her divination powers to split Guy and Rena up, failing harder and harder with every plot.
  4. The whole idea that Alpha overrode SF2 will never make sense to me because of Cammy's story. How do the events of Alpha 3 happen and yet she quickly managed to become a Delta Red Agent and tracked down Bison? Unless it's a Guile situation where the events of A2 and A3 that went through Charlie's death were combined to Guile searching for Charlie = Alpha 2 Charlie ending
  5. He was actually voiced by a transgender woman for that mobile KOF game.
  6. I notice that Chris' weird shirt/crop top has a rip in his left shoulder and his team is referred to as "Team Orochi". I guess they're still psycho cultists.
  7. It's borderline shameful that SF is still lagging behind in terms of story. DMC and Resi are able to deliver decent stories, even the Megaman series (except for the X series) has a decent story and that's not even getting into the masterpiece that are the Zero games. And they don't have the excuse of limitations as a fighting game like they did back in the 90's/early 00's. A SF game with the level of care that Mortal Kombat and the Orochi-NESTS saga of KOF took with their story and dynamics would be LOVELY.
  8. I sometimes forgets he even exists. That's how badly Capcom missed the mark with him.
  9. That's why M. Bison is still a very enticing and effective villain within the series regardless of the discrepancies surrounding him as a character and his position within the plot. He uses fellow human beings like tools to be cast aside, engineers and kidnaps people with the intention of making them mere replacement bodies, has no qualms about using underhanded tactics and has committed mulitple heinous acts without a single thought. All for the sake of being the strongest. That is in direct contrast to the other heroes of this series, mainly Ryu and Chun-Li: Ryu seeks to get stronger to improve himself as a person, Chun-Li uses her power to protect her family name and those who can't defend themselves. M Bison cheats and plays it easy instead of training the right proper way through honest work to grow strong. The fact he needs stronger bodies and replacements because his own bodies tend to not hold it in just goes to show how unnatural and disgusting this all really is. Gill and G at least seem to have altruistic motives, even if their methods and aspects of their persona are evil. Seth is a missed opportunity and Akuma is similar to Bison but not as well handed by Capcom.
  10. I just hope that Rose's outfit from when she was younger is just the fantasy element of SF, where ancient Greek pankration fighters can co-exist with genetic mutants and tech, doing its work and not "Rose and Bison have been around for a long time". Then again, considering how Bison can return from the dead and perform other bizarre supernatural feats, it's not unlikely.
  11. Who knows? SNK has always planned ahead. Whip and her story arc during 1999-2001 was already written as far back as 1996 (though not all of the NESTS Chronicles were written by then), several characters like Vanessa, Foxy, Kusanagi, Rock and Kim's sons were already conceived as characters and the former 3 had spritesheets before they even debuted or had their games worked on. They were probably just head swaps of Ryo. I wonder if that copy is still in good condition or even still in somebody's possession.
  12. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.polygon.com/platform/amp/2021/1/7/22214717/capcom-vs-snk-an-oral-history Found this article. It mainly features commentary from key staff members of Capcom and SNK reminiscing on the CvS series. An interesting fact is that technically, CvS was already a thing in 1998, where the SNK staff had their own private build of KOF98 featuring Ryu and Ken and even Goku from Dragon Ball!
  13. Q's section: We discussed this before. I think MVC1 has the same number of quotes in both regions. I used the region swap feature in MAME for that game but MvSF lacks one. I'll try and search around for any source and maybe hunt down the Japanese ROM. Power Fighters is actually more interesting in Japanese considering how Dr. Light actually speaks to the player (it's nothing important, just "select your mission" etc) the characters even have 2 possible voice lines upon getting a weapon. It's where Megaman's victory speech in MVC1 comes from "In times of trouble, I will always protect the Earth!"
  14. It's as you said, RE is a big money printer for Capcom, more so now than it usually was. Doing a crossover would be damaging to both series' involved. They're better off seperate. It would just be awkward and alienate the fans. This isn't KOF where they could get away with stuff like this.
  15. If it's in a main game then definitely a huge no. If it was something like a spin off game/VS/Mobile game than I would be more open to the idea. I'd say another crossover that would work would be Power Stone and Strider Hiryu. Again, not in a mainline game.
  16. I was going to go and translate the Alpha 3 ending myself but it turns out that @Lord_Vegadid a great job already doing that in the old threads, much better than what I had gotten. The English version is just more blunt and direct with the delivery of its phrases with the use of "you" and "I" https://forums.shoryuken.com/t/the-ultra-inevitable-street-fighter-v-story-thread/586509/2972 Jap: Rose: The master from the past… Now… Must be killed by these hands… As an aside, I honestly wish I had some hacking ability so I could completely change the text of the CPS2/3 era games to have more accurate translations. The Megaman X games up to 6 already have romhacks that have better scripts as their features and I think SF and Darkstalkers would especially benefit due to having way more detailed dialogue, the latter having only 4 victory quotes per characters in the International versions yet the characters have a whole slew of them on top of the epilogues. The Japanese version of MvSF even has differing victory quotes based on teams.
  17. According to Village, Chris should be 44 years old. The characters aging is probably going to throw some wrenches in unless they do prequels, more remakes or make future games take place very shortly after one another.
  18. It's going to be very interesting to see where Fang and the other 4 Kings go from this point onward. Rose's quote to him seems to imply that he likely loyal to Bison even when he's dead and Shadaloo is no more, it's possible that in his loyalty for his master that he might even try to resurrect him... I'm also interested in seeing where Capcom will take Vega next since we haven't had any hints like what happened with Balrog and Sagat.
  19. I think people are taking the "back to zero" in the literal sense. Rose and Menat are probably just going on a quest to discover how all of this mess with G and such started in the first place.
  20. Final Fight Revenge implies that Poison framed Cody for some of his crimes (after all, the Alpha 3 Secret File proves he did go around causing fights and violence). Besides, he did help MASSIVELY in the disbanding of the original Mad Gear anyways. It's interesting to note that according to his Japanese wikipedia page. They originally wanted Cody to not be a convict in SF4 but kept him that way because of his popularity in the west. Also interesting though unrelated from Wikipedia is that Byron Taylor might be a callback to Charlie Nash at one point in the conception phase being envisioned as a black man by Haruo Murata.
  21. Would be nice for SF6 to have a codec to cover the characters and plots of prior games in its extras or something.
  22. They're probably only going to be a threat because of the Psycho Power still within their bodies, which would probably lead to Bison making a low key return or even possess Ed of the nightmares had by Ed are any indication. I don't want a reboot either. Best case scenario if they do a reboot then it is just a small side series that narratively only serves to fix up Alpha and give a true definitive story rather than a main game. The leaks from Capcom revealed nothing about the content about SF6 though so I'm hoping that some of you are just being overly fearful and that a reboot isn't happening. It wouldn't make sense to just throw away everything they set up right away.
  23. There's also the possibility that Menat is going to step up and deal with Ed while Rose tackles the main issue being G. Speaking of G, I just wonder how they're going to handle him and everything else. At this point, we all know that SF6 will likely properly deal with all the key elements and plot points that the post-ASF character stories set up but I just wonder how they're going to balance them. We have Neo-Shadaloo/Kage aka shit/Illuminati and G. That on top of trying to give the other characters something to do. Capcom have likely learnt from their mistakes when they did ASF but this all could have the chance to go horribly wrong.
  24. I wouldn't be surprised if her SFV story is setting up Rose as a Chizuru type figure who is actively pulling strings in an attempt to stop whatever threat is on the horizon. Considering how she encountered Akuma as her special encounter in Alpha 2, in which she learns about the SnH, she was probably planning on warning Ryu/getting him ready for the battle against Bison in case things on her end failed during the Alpha 3 period. On a general note, it's great to finally have Rose back in SFV. Can't to start using her a lot though I find it strange that they didn't address anything to do with Ed/Falke considering how Menat came to warn the former about the future unless Rose has things planned to deal with him.
