  1. I got JP, too, which was kind of what I was expecting as he's the closest thing to Rose in the roster. Oh well, I guess I'll give the old man a shot. But the good thing is we're back to character-specific BP, so you can basically play everyone again.
  2. Actually never thought about it, but FSE + Drive Rush is indeed low-key Marvel stuff. But even apart form that I think she's really good in this game and it's really nice that she can use her store kick infinitely again (even though the backwards quarter circle kept messing me up).
  3. I'm not quite seeing the problem with animations to be honest. Some moves arguably look weird (wtf is Chun doing during st.MP?) but overall it looks very fluent and smooth. It does, however, become increasingly difficult to properly animate light/fast attacks the more sophisticated and realistic a game looks, because throwing a punch and retracting your limb to your neutral stance in a sixth of a second is humanly impossible. These rapid-fire animations from the days of yore, that looked absolutely fine on 2D sprites and even the blocky models of SFIV, will therefore always be visually at odds with the character models in this new graphical style.
  4. Played exactly 100 matches, which I think is a good place to stop. Overall it's fun, whether it'll become a favourite or not, time will tel. But it's easier to appreciate than SFV right off the bat due to its higher production values and the playfulness of everything. You can really feel that they care when playing or even just browsing the menus. I've also come to enjoy Chun a bit more than in the beginning. There's lots of potential in her stance switch but it also makes her super susceptible to random Drive Impacts.
  5. Tried to play around with Drive Rush a bit, it's thankfully not as complicated as expected. I used a very basic, non-optimal route with Chun to get the hang of the timing (st.MP, cr.MP -> Drive Rush -> st.MP, cr.MP) and I can actually pull it off more or less consistently in a match now. I'll never be able to use it off a single hit confirm, but it also won't take me years to learn like FADC did back in the day. It's probably best used in a scenario where you can get the KO anyway because of the massive meter cost. I'd also like to point out how refreshing it feels to be able to use all your buttons in neutral without the risk of your opponent getting a random crush counter and comboing you into the corner with 35% damage to boot.
  6. Yeah, but only Level 3, which I found out today but stubbornly mashing through every possible cancel window. Bit of a weird decision, but oh well.
  7. Am I both dumb and incompetent or can you really not cancel normal Lightning Legs into a Super? I've only managed to do it from the EX version so far.
  8. Played a couple of matches with Chun and tried Juri for two or three. Feels so different than SFV and everyone who says the cracked beta doesn't give an advantage is lying to themselves. Getting a feel for, well, the feel of the game is so important and that will take a while here, particularly with all the system mechanics thrown into the mix. Matter of fact during my 20 or so matches I didn't even use Drive Rush once, I was way to focused on not burning my bar too quickly with EX Moves and trying (but mostly failing) to counter DI's with my own. Speaking of, I'm not sure I'm a fan of the mechanic, considering how often people have countered my st.HP with it, but I expect this to be the SCVI syndrome where it'll become weaker the more accustomed you get to it. Overall feels good, online seems solid. Chun doesn't seem as complicated as initially thought but her kicks feel kind of lackluster n neutral which is odd. Will most likely pick another character in the full version. I liked Juri more here actually. Edit: oh, and some of my opponents used modern controls. Looks super weird when they play with how many buttons they can't use.
  9. Ha, for once we Europe people have the time advantage. God I hope it doesn't feel to bad with the Xbox controller, I really don't know if there are viable alternatives on this platform.
  10. Not a hitbox but a blow-up racket just in case we have to play near a beach, but it came with a written confirmation from Hasbro that it has high durability, so it should be fine. My main is my right underarm, who, you can believe me, is more than up for the task.
  11. Unrelated, but I wanted to let you guys know that tomorrow I'm starting a career in pro tennis. I've heard that the rules have changed and that only two sets will be played at major tournaments, so as the worst player in the lineup, I will now be able to consistently beat Djokovic & Co. now.
  12. 50 characters at launch is of course unrealistic by a large margin, but it's easily possible to subsidise characters through other, purely cosmetic sales like costumes.
  13. Unrelated but I love these nonchalantly over-the-top HD Remix remixes.
  14. Seems true, I compared her model from the first trailer with the current build. I don't know how to do gifs or I'd upload it, because this is a very important issue. But yes, they're a tad thinner, though not as much as you'd expect from the two lower screenshots, where positioning and lighting make it appear more drastic than it is. I wonder if they changed it because of some of the criticism around her idle pose during fights.
  15. The lightning fast low will be hated for sure but I'm not convinced she'll bee as annoying as she seems on paper. Those vacuum target combos are super close-range and need to be hit-confirmed because they're punishable on block, and the command grabs are relatively slow (you can even jump out of her super after the screen freeze). Time will tell obviously, but between @EvilCanadian's video an Idom's analysis I think she might not be the menace people thought she'd be. Marisa and Gief look way more salt-inducing right now.
  16. I usually go through the trials (if available) with the characters that looks interesting to me and then mix between training mode and some basic arcade mode to get a feel for them during the first week or so. After that I hop online,
  17. My day -21 prediction online tierlist: Low rank nightmares: Marisa, Blanka, Honda Mid rank nightmare: Gief High rank nightmares: JP, Dhalsim Ultimate omnipotent one-winged angel nightmare: Guile
  18. I was convinced these sticks would be omnicompatible. Can't believe they're still limited to one system even to this day. As for input lag I think you should generally go with the platform that has the lowest one and not look at any other criteria, but I don't know if we have any info on that yet for SF6. Maybe there's parity between systems, would be welcome for a change. But it's nuts how much of a foothold Xbox lost with their last system when you consider that Xbox360 was basically the standard across the board until SFxTekken came along with exclusive content.
  19. How does SF6 perform on Series S? Due to its low price point compared to PC and the other two consoles I could see that being an alternative for some mid-size tournaments if the game runs well on the system (which it should considering it's cross-gen, but you never know).
  20. Eh, yeah, that's actually a good point. No idea what my brain was doing there. Unless they completely revamp the game at some point and release a current-gen exclusive Deluxe variant or something, there's actually no real cutting-off point possible anymore.
  21. The fact that we've been in this cross-gen territory for so long skews the perspective a bit, but ultimately the biggest jump is the systems having access to significantly faster storage. I don't know if that's something that will eventually hold SF6 back because it's a 1on1 fighting game that only ever display a stage, two high fidelity characters and a bunch of background NPCs – I think worst-case scenario PS5, Xbox and PC players will just have to wait longer when matched up with PS4 players. There's World Tour of course, but that mode already seems to be designed around certain shortcomings, seeing how it's visually vastly inferior to normal gameplay. I was skeptical initially, but I don't think it'll hold this game in particular back too much. But if it does, they'll always have the option to drop PS4 with an update, if they communicate it clearly (for example Super Street Fighter 6 no longer releasing for PS4).
  22. Everyone will be permanently in burnout mode in week 1 , that's for sure. But that's also just part of the learning process. But you're also not going to see pressure like this in ranks were accidental burnout will be a common occurrence.
  23. Did not expect to see another beta, but good news. Would be nice to have more characters but at least I can give Chun a try pre-release to see if she clicks. Will be a good opportunity to get used to the Xbox pad again before release, after having played SFV on PS4 for half a decade.
  24. True, but that way the Chun-Li breast jiggle glitch managed to survive through the times. Imagine if they ever nerf Gief's jiggly buttocks in SF6. Having the game on disc is the only way to gain access to him in all his glory. Take that, digital.
  25. After watching @EvilCanadian's video I'm convinced Marisa will be the onlinest of online characters since SFIV Blanka. Just blow through everything and be plus on block until you hit Diamond or something and people start parrying. She'll most likely be the reason I'd eventually end up having JP as a sub character after all. Still no clue who to main though. I'd like to play Manon for the looks but I don't really think her gameplay aligns with what I'm looking for in a character.
