I did fight a litany of Meitenkuns, but most were either terrible, or never really fully utilizing him. Most seemed to treat him like Guile which kinda works but still not his peak bullshit.

I had a fucking blast messing around in the first beta. Iori was fun, Chris was insane, really there was a lot more to explore than in this one. Shun’ei also surprisingly piqued my interest. Antonov was unsurprisingly useless and relegated to masochists like KojiKOG. Now can the next beta have Yuri please?

But with the caveat that some Arch distros make it as easy as a Debian/Ubuntu distro.

But does this mean we’ll see them patch it and put it back up on Steam? I’m hoping they do and don’t abandon it.

I was bored mostly with this beta roster. Isla is really good but wasn’t super fun for me. Blue Mary was prob my favourite out of the bunch to run, but probably not bothering with her past the beta. But I still played for as long as I could, and honestly the netcode was better than the first beta. Seems like they’re actually really taking in feedback and making things better. I think this is gonna be a great release.

Still trying to figure out who the fuck to play this weekend. I'll at least try to try out everyone, but likely sticking with Ryo/K', and maybe Isla or Meitenkun. I doubt I'll be smart enough to play her right, but I kinda wish I could run Blue Mary. Xiaohai made her look hella fun and busted in 14.

Yeah I could care less for this character at all. He and Terry will probably be all over the place on the beta this weekend, and hardly anyone will be good with them.

Steam Deck is based, and a large part of the reason why Proton development is moving so fast at the present. I mean it was looking good overall even last year, but the speed of which things are fixed right now is pretty stunning. MBTL had some early issues that needed a custom version to work and within a week Valve had an official version working with it. Not bad for even such a niche title.

Sorry you weren’t able to get it working. But for people who were able, it was enjoyable. I’d at least expect another round, hope you’re able to try it next time.

Not really. You just don't talk to people that can throw you in jail in China like that. Lie if you have to, play back on your heels, but never get confrontational. They know they have the power of the CCP behind them to trump up whatever charges, put them through, put you in a kangaroo court, and send you away until they can use you for a bargaining chip from your government. I was tired, in pain, and angry, and that kinda of mixes into sheer stupidity which thankfully resolved with dumb luck that he knew he had nothing he could hold me for, that he was just trying to scare the shit out of me, and realized he sufficiently did so.

So here we go, my China story: I got my passport in 2008, had the photos taken at a CVS for it. Figured that was the best place to get it done where I lived. Also, I was living in a small town, that was one of only two places to get it done, the other being the post office. In hindsight, I should've gotten them done at the post office. This may sound inconsequential, but comes back to bite me later. In 2011, I crossed into China the first time with my psychotic ex. She was let through perfectly fine, but they flagged me for further inspection, never explained why. I sat there about 15 minutes with zero explanation, finally a customs agent comes back to me, hands me my passport and says I'm free to go. Never an explanation. I stayed there almost exactly five years, and had like 6 or 7 Chinese visas in that passport. In early 2015 I decided it was time to get out of China, and found a job in Korea. Even went to the Korean consulate in Qingdao to get my Korean visa finalized and in my passport. In all of these times of getting visas put in, nothing ever came up on my passport. Korean consulate had my visa done within 2 days as I was told and had me come back to get it, no sweat. End of June, I'm flying to Seoul. I go through immigration to do my exit procedure, which is always a headache. Nearly everywhere else in the world you just show your passport and you're done (if you have to do that at all, really depends on the country). In China, you have to fill out an exit card, declaring various things before you can leave. Bear in mind this was a day where my body decided a migraine would be a nice topping on a urinal cake. Get up to immigration, and they just keep staring back at my passport, and back at me at least 5 times. Then they call someone over. And this guy says "This your passport?" I nod. He then pulls me in close, and starts pointing to my passport photo. I say, "Yeah, that's me." And he goes, "No," and then starts pointing off to the side of my photo... ...where the dumbass CVS employee had not shot the photo properly and there was a shadow behind me in the photo. "This fake," he says and takes me to a back room. I'm in there for 30 minutes, my flight is supposed to take off in 45. He keeps talking on the phone in Chinese. When I first came, I didn't speak a word of it. But now I did, and could hear the words "Fake passport" and "Illegal immigrant" being said. The fuck? All this time I've been taking this passport to the immigration offices in Qingdao to renew my visas, not once has this been a problem. Now suddenly they're claiming I'm illegal. He sat there a good long while inspecting every page of my passport and pulling stuff up on the computer. I'm freaking out. Not only could I miss my flight to Korea, where I would MUCH rather be, but I may be in a gulag if this keeps up. Then I did what is honestly one of the dumbest things I've ever done. I stood up, and said, "Look, I can tell you every piece of info in that passport. I know every detail of it, I've had 6 visas issued here in Qingdao, one in Chicago, and one issued here for Korea, where I'm trying to go and I may miss my flight because of your witch hunt. I'm tired, I packed all night, and now I have a headache that you're making worse. Let me catch my flight and you'll never see me again." And somehow it worked. He just laughed at me, tosses me my passport and my boarding pass, and tells me to have a nice flight. What kind of bullshit was that? Some kind of fear mongering scare tactic? I get out of there to find out my flight was delayed, because most likely it was codesharing with China Eastern. But yeah, after the two Michaels incident in 2018, I realized how fucking lucky I actually was that I was able to get out. And I've kept to my word. I haven't been back to China since, and really, don't see the point of ever doing, short of the CCP falling.
