  1. And if you go to the store in six months and buy another NUC it will probably run almost exactly the same. If you've got some eSports corporate sponsorship, sure, go buy a couple dozen identical computers and go nuts. If you're a local that's begging people to bring setups so the tournament doesn't take twice as long to run PC isn't going to work as well. Even majors with sponsors providing hardware for a flagship game are pulling systems from other TOs to run the entirety of their lineup.
  2. I love doing this. It was even better with my old car when I told them they had to burn it to CD because that's all the stereo took. Filling/fitting on a CD gives you a good length for the playlist though.
  3. The Turnpike is the only place I've seen really good service, and toll roads are another pet peeve of mine so I avoid that. You need a gas station that is either always busy so they have a lot of staff, or sometimes busy so they have dedicated attendants but not busy when you go so they aren't dealing with five other cars. Otherwise it's a bad time.
  4. It sucks. Everyone seems to think it's some kind of luxury that it takes an extra five minutes to get gas because I have to wait for some lackadaisical attendant to come and push a damned button.
  5. Perhaps you'll enjoy their new direction. Except for the last two years or so.
  6. Where I went to college they used to have 24 hour grocery stores, and it was fun because in the middle of the night no one is doing normal grocery shopping. I remember I was there once, I think to buy a pack of cookies, and the guy in front of me in line had a shopping cart completely filled with frozen dinners.
  7. Like others I strongly disagree with your first paragraph, but I mostly agree with the conclusions you've drawn. I think Evo does pretty well for commentary already. There's a bit of politicking there, but for the most part they can have their pick of the litter, and they pay their commentators (at least for main games). People being able to be semi-pro commentators for sure helps get some of them to level up. The odd exception are smaller games. You can have a game like Pokken that probably has 100 serious players in the whole country*, yet they have really good commentary running off of pure passion. *Probably. I haven't counted.
  8. I think good commentators are important, though yeah, there may be a lack of them. Watching matches without commentary is just incredibly niche, it gets real old real fast for most people, and probably isn't interesting in the first place if you're not super into the game. But there is definitely an art and skill to picking out the right things to talk about, giving enough high-level overview, not trying to describe every single detail (which does go by too fast), and knowing when you can talk about something other than the game to keep things entertaining.
  9. Just have a box mix as a backup. Pretty hard to mess that up as long as you don't burn it.
  10. This is going to be hard to talk about without using loaded terms, but I'll try. If there's a couple dozen chill dudes and one guy trying to show and/or see dicks, that's all it takes. Some people will blow it off and try to avoid him, more will figure "FGC really is a bunch of wackjobs" and walk away forever, and if he keeps at it maybe he finds that special, vulnerable someone he can mentally scar for life. People like to think "we know bad behavior when we see it" and get up in arms about pages of carefully-worded and inflexible rules. But without structured rules people say "oh, ol' Joey's trying to look at dicks again, that scamp" and don't do anything about it, and people don't want to bring it up because they know nothing will be done about it. If the whole group gets painted with a broad brush, they may not be guilty, but they might have some soul-searching to do about how it happened.
  11. On the internet, no one knows you're a dog. Conversely, the person you're talking to on the internet could be a dog. I know it's not that simple, but don't get too invested in talking to dogs.
  12. Republican nominations seem to have devolved into who can be the most batshit insane, so sure, maybe they could. Usually candidates have to have done a fair bit of rising up through the ranks to have enough national name recognition and fundraising muscle for a presidential bid, and that tends to select for someone older.
  13. I'm mildly outraged that you've included a YouTube video that attributes that song to an artist who [tragically] died before it ever came out.
  14. Cautiously optimistic. Megalobox was really good, up until the last five minutes or so.
