  1. Well, if they're really going to give us JULI and not JURI it's certainly bollocks. 😛 As much as I'd like to see Juli and Juni again, just to know where are they now, I don't think they would gladly fight again. Sometimes I wonder if Capcom would also create Judi, Juvi and Jumi (obviously identical triplets) just to confuse the players even more. Then Jubi, Juci, Jufi, Jugi...
  2. It's pointless searching for a real language when the Thunderfoot tribe is not a real tribe, and was created along the most common stereotypes regarding the Plains Indians, or, to be more specific, the Lakotas. The Cherokees never dwelt in tipis, while Thunderfoot clearly live in tipis, as shown in Hawk's SFIV prologue. Not to mention there was a real historical Lakota warrior named Čhetáŋ Wakíŋyaŋ, aka "Thunder Hawk". Anyway, the stereotype the Japanese have of "American Indians" is more or less the same as the "generic Indian" all the world had, which was more or less based upon "Lakotas with totem poles" (Lakotas never carved totem poles, which were typical of the Northwest Coast cultures). If November was to be spelt in Lakota, then she would've been Waníyetu wí ("winter month") or Tȟakhíyuȟa wí ("ruminant rutting month"). Lily would be... Too many names, it depends on which lily species is, lol. Anyway, as I said that's useless.
  3. That was already confirmed by the leaked audio commentary, anyway. What's still unknown is what relation has she with him. I doubt Lily is his daughter; maybe his or November'¹s sister? ¹ God, I hate that name, it's LAZY and disrespectful. They named her NOUEMBER after the LATIN name of the month. Because... Capcom didn't know any Native American language so they just chose the "old-sounding one"? I don't know, but that's already bad... Then they further screwed up the transliteration in... LATIN characters, and we ended up with the absurd NOEMBELU. They could've corrected this at any moment, but nooo. So we have a fictional Native American tribe with an English name (Thunderfoot), with two members (Thunder Hawk and Lily) with an English name; his father with an HALF SPANISH-HALF ENGLISH name (Arroyo Hawk), and another with a LATIN name because... WTF?
  4. LOL, I said the same two days ago. Also, since I spoke about that mainly on Twitter...
  5. Absolutely NOT, but obviously she came from the same common source, aka Shinji Hiramatsu's 1979 manga Mister Lady, as I already said once. Akiman is a fan of Hiramatsu's works, and reused many of his ideas. They even referenced that in her description, "An American girl, wearing the flag colours. She has freckles and is a basic American girl (lady?)" Maybe I'll translate something in the coming days, but this month is going to be a working nightmare for me. The first 30 seconds at least were ok, so I don't think they screwed up something.
  6. Yes, that's correct. I quote myself: As @CESTUS IIIpointed out, Guy also did the same in SFIV. Ibuki also does it during her CA in SFV, but only the hand gestures without their names spelt out loud, very quickly.
  7. Yup, it's definitely Чернобог Černobog. We all remember him in Disney's Fantasia. There's also a... Niža? It could be a mispronunciation of the god of the underworld Niya. Definitely NOT a moveset for a NICE guy... 😛 I translated it, I remember it very well. Yes, but Guy also did the correct hand gestures. Kimberly seems to treat it more like a cool dance.
  8. The pattern seems to be "Old Slavic divinities". Стрибог Stribog is the Slavic god of wind. Триглав Triglav is unclear, but he had three heads. Lavšuka seems to be a mispronunciation of ловушка lovuška, "TRAP". There's even a Japanese cosmetic brand named ラヴーシュカ Lavūshuka, which they liberally romanised as "Lavshuca" as a cute diminutive (Love + Russian diminutive "shka") so I can see why they made that mistake. Торбалан Torbalan is the Russian Boogeyman, who kidnaps naughty children and keeps them in his sack.
  9. Kimberly does a kujikiri ("nine signs cut"), a sequence of hand gestures thought to enhance perception or as a spell to ward off calamities, typical of esoteric branches of Buddhism (密教 mikkyō, "secret teachings") and often featured in ninja related stuff. It should be performed with very precise hand gestures, but Kimberly here just seems to dance with it as if it were the lyrics of a song. The sequences vary, but the most used one in martial arts contexts (and by Kimberly as well) goes 臨 兵 闘 者 皆 陣 裂 在 前 rin - pyō - tō - sha - kai - jin - retsu - zai - zen, roughly "my soldiers are ready to fight, all deployed in front of me", from which generally they extrapolate more esoteric meanings. Anyway, Lily is more or less a T.Hawk clone. I heard MEXICAN TYPHOON, so she should play very similar to him. Marisa has a super armor ad moves in... LATIN, LOL. I heard gladius (sword), procella (storm) and quadriga. More importantly, Zangief "has more throws than ever".
  10. Actually there's nothing that points towards that. The original Japanese text says Inoki is a 大物キラー Ōmono killer, "BIG NAME killer", not specifically a GIANT killer. So he could be rival with a still unnamed SF version of Giant Baba, but they didn't say that anywhere. I'm almost tempted to start a thread just for the single moves and references that countless characters took from Inoki. He was everywhere. EVERYWHERE.
  11. With UDON we got shit like Zangief cheating using the KGB during a match against Haggar and still losing (because Haggar also used the CIA, of course!). Or Zangief being beaten like a moron by Mika after having accidentally touched her butt with a green hand, all the while thinking it was all REAL and fighting seriously, when Mika treated it all like a show instead. Or Dan being beaten by all the Iwashigahama wrestlers, who then all relaxed with him in the same bathhouse because YEAH, IT'S ALL FAKE, BUT HERE ARE THE TITS AND THE ARSES YOU WANT, HORNY BOYS. LOOK! Or the horrid story with Laura and Rikuo. That's supreme writing indeed. Yeah. While it's clear Capcom doesn't know what to do with some characters (not that everyone should have a GRAND, IMPACTFUL story, anyway), the same could be said about UDON, which also tends to rapidly flanderise the characters or use terrible fanon. They had some good ideas, like the miniseries about Ibuki (and even here, the constantly angry Makoto was a flanderisation of her character), or Elena using her Healing to restore Zabel/Lord Raptor's humanity during the Darkstalkers crossover, but too many times they've been cringy as hell.
  12. Any fanfiction would've been better than ASF. I could think about a story where the protagonist is BLANKA and he erases the Shadaloo base with an electric fart and it would still be better than ASF. But I wouldn't go to 4chan claiming to be an insider just to "prove" it.
  13. The problem is exactly THAT. It seems someone just took the speculations the fandom made and tried to "officialise" them by making himself pass for an insider.
  14. Its Japanese version was ナイシャール Naishaaru, nothing here as well, just SF related posts. A fictional SF place without doubt.
  15. @Daemos @CESTUS III @Darc_RequiemFOUND IT. It was posted by @BootyWarrioron June 3, around the time the roster was leaked. A bunch of bullshit, like I said. Fuck 4chan, honestly. Too bad we don't have Luke's winquote against Ken yet, just to fully disprove all of it.
  16. The problem is also that, as far as I remember, the first explicit declaration about "Necalli should've been the boss, eaten Bison and blah blah blah" was from... the supposed "leaker" who said that "he knew the developers" and that everyone would've been pissed about Ken because Ken was DIVORCED. And we know how accurate that turned out. 😏 Through all this last summer, everyone just kept parroting that BS, and even though the fact that Necalli should have been the boss during SFV inception was a common suspect in fandom (I suspect the same thing, but we have no proof), I don't recall anyone from the developers' side explicitly admitting that.
  17. It could be everything. He could be dead, he could've gotten into politics... either way, he did some good service to the US, so they're honoring him. But, until Capcom explicitly discloses his fate, Byron Taylor in SF6 is a Schrōdinger's character, lol.
  18. The U.S. Navy regularly named ships after alive persons. They stopped after WWII, but resumed the practice in 1975 with the USS Carl Vinson1, commissioned when congressman Carl Vinson was still alive. So Byron Taylor could be still alive. 1I know that just because the USS Carl Vinson gave her name to the manga Space Family Carlvinson, which featured a character that Capcom copied for Vampire Savior's Q-Bee. Lol.
  19. Interestingly, the first bar is "height". The SECOND bar, still at 33, is... "SITTING height". I think that would influence your bulk as well.
  20. The only vague connection I can think about now is the crime boss Boris Rodčenko from the Underground Arena in SF5... But he was a different character (MAYBE). Incidentally, surnames ending in -enko are traditionally Ukrainian, not Russian... That'd be a bit controversial now. Also, unless that dot in the P is purely for show, @Daemosis right. That's Papovič. Or, more correctly, Popovič: since Russian vowels are pronounced differently when they're not stressed, and the stress is on the second syllable (Popóvič), the first O becomes pronounced more like A... So it makes sense that they went with Papovič while transliterating the name into Latin characters. @PVL_93_RUcould confirm. The rare "Papovich" that pops here and there is mostly due to erroneous transliterations from Russian to English (also č -> ch, for typesetting reasons and because most people would not know how to read č anyway). However, since that makes the name more correctly pronounceable by English speakers, not all evil comes to harm. I don't see any difference in meaning between the first two sentences and the last one. 🤔
  21. It looks like JP's full name was revealed on his tag: Johann Pavlovich. Or Papovich, but I'm inclined towards Pavlovich. So he HAS a full name...
