I would hope this isn't unpopular. SF6 is FAR better in terms of art style than SF5  or SF4, with SF5 having been better than 4 but neither very good. SF6 is quite good.

Not sure he was serious at all.

Also just finished World Tour's story portion and WOW was not expecting that! I think this all but confirms future DLC seasons will expand the story as they go...which is awesome.

I have to say, JP is the most interesting villain they've ever had in SF. Not the baddest ass. Not the most iconic. Not the most intimidating. Not even the one deserving of most spotlight. Just the most interesting. His philosophical bent and seeming contradictions in his attitude make him really really interesting. He has this detached sense from everything he does and this obvious manipulative streak to him...but in his own arcade ending (which features another costume we NEED for him) it's also clear he's maniacal in his own ways. Even his little remarks like saying that he would teach someone seeking to destroy him with his own power. Intriguing.

All in all, the parallels are obvious just like I had said before...beyond even the OBVIOUS likeness & voice homage to Christopher Lee, JP is the Dooku to Bison's Palpatine. Not only was Dooku also the money-man for the Sith during the prequels (Dooku was one of the richest men in the entire galaxy with personal wealth that exceeded the combined wealth of wealthy STAR SYSTEMS)  but he was also highly morally complicated with a complex worldview that was being eroded by his immersion in the darkside causing him to become increasingly bent towards evil.

So...what does that mean for my boy Ed? Maybe we get to see how Dooku might have tried to train Vader if Palpatine had bit the dust. Intriguing.

All in all, I will say this about world tour...it was not the huge story bonanza of events and that is a GOOD thing. We got that in SF5 and, frankly, SF5's story is atrocious. It is poorly paced, poorly delivered, poorly thought out and poorly split up between characters. SF6, on the other hand, focuses on SF's REAL strength...its CHARACTERS. Never have I found the world warriors (new and old) as likeable and interesting as they are in SF6. I have NEVER liked Blanka before...and in SF6 he's absolutely delightful and I love everything about him.

Everyone in the game is OOZING personality and I just want to hang around these characters and hear their stories and see them interact with each other. Even something as simple as text messages between characters becomes so fun and, in some cases, flat-out HILARIOUS (Sincerely, Ryu) while sticking to the characters. The humor comes from the characters instead of forcing humor THROUGH the characters (Take notes post Phase 3 Marvel...) and Capcom leveraged their history and their characters history instead of hiding from it (Looking at you NRS).

I've already sold FIVE friends on SF6. Four of them have not purchased an SF since 4 (or earlier). One of them has never bought an SF at all...and he bought it last night and ended up playing it for 6 hours straight. This game is a winner. Big time.

Now time to start digging into making A LOT of characters. Can't wait to make tiny sumo-girl Hinako 😄

Despite there being so little info, everything I've researched in my vids points to this. He's obfuscating stupidity and injecting non=specific, universal  charm (he wants to win everyone over and tends to avoid divisive statements- he'll reject the notion of a god, but say we're all connected anyways. He'll say he's a leader, but to unite all of us rather than stand out as a king). His early views were nothing, but then Rashid fell for it, got beat up and it furthered his plans dramatically. The spectacle continued, but now "oh, he beat a fighting celebrity, maybe there's more to this guy!" More people are paying attention. One of which is Rose and Menat; Rose, who through the series has shown to have literal foresight can't fully read G for some reason, sends Menat to investigate and she too, while being not as experienced as Rose, cannot read G to the point that she gets beaten.

This song and dance continues, and if his arcade ending is to be believed, he starts travelling across the world, gaining even more success and having more people tuning in due to curiosity or genuine interest. He gets so notable, that Gill, who has been part of a society that's been secret to the world for 2,000 reveals himself on his stage, but this time beats G. He can't fully enjoy his victory as, G, who's been beaten doesn't seem worried or even embarrassed. Gill poses several questions after noting his power feels familiar, but is not part of the prophecy. G offers complete nonsense non-answers that seem to at least get at Gill - he seems slightly annoyed at his gibberish. G continues to do his thing, Rose and Oro note how impactful his power is but have 2 different POVs on whether it's a force of nature or evil. Rose tracks him to India, is yet again a person who defeats him, but again, he's not bothered or even hurt, then they share a vision of the end and he drops the folksy, weirdo act and seems to revel in the coming inevitability of the chaos, hinting that he knows more than he lets on and even directly confronting him face to face, Rose still doesn't know who or what he is. Whether or not Ring of Galaxy is canon, it proved one of my earliest theories that he has minions that share his look.

I distinguished the difference between G and Q's mask before, but G and his minions are well-dressed and have a hockey style mask and glowing purple eyes. It looks like they can remove it easily while Q, a plain dresser, is literally locked into his mask and has been canonically seen since SF2. To me, it says that the loyal followers get a mask for loyalty or ceremonial purposes, but Q did something heretical and had the freedom of choice removed and possibly escaped. I tend to view G as being an elite or the head of some secret organization and they're spreading chaos akin to a toku series where they're like Gorgom - created a monster, but he (Q) escaped and now fights them from a far. Since G's reveal trailer I've basically thought that him and Q are basically reenacting Kamen Rider black hah.

We've then got the art that shows him looking evil and all the "he's a boss" talk. As of SF6, he's still apparently around in public looking to recruit for something. All of this, to me, points that G is secretly a monster and bigger deal than we've seen and they're going towards that. The meta question is if they had more planned and SF5's chaos diverted that a bit or they decided he was a boss at the last minute. Either way, there's more to him even if the execution was flawed. I hope we don't have to wait too long to see him and Q again.

I do have higher hopes for Q now a days;  hehasn't appeared in anything major in years, but all of a sudden we get G's story costume & NPCs looking vaguely like him and then his mask, not G's version, is hidden through Neko drop 2 , we get Shadaloo CRI postings about him pointing at a connection with Viper, expansions on the roles of the CIA folks and he pops up in Teppen.

To be fair story does good job involving Sim with Oro to show he's knowledgeable enough to be even just involved in that conversation, but also show that Oro is on another level both as fighter and as scholar

Sean’s placement is baffling. Not only does he have to spend a meter to use a fireball unlike the other shotos, but every ending he had involves him losing to somebody. The 3rd strike ending shows he can’t even beat regular people.

I also think there’s too much emphasis on energy projection = better fighter. Is Zangief weaker than Ibuki because he doesn’t throw out a fireball?

Ibuki is higher than Barlog and ASF showed she needed to team up with Mika to be on equal footing with him. This whole list needs to go in the bin.

Necalli literally has the five, V, from the SFV logo on his face. The intro cinematic, which only shows the first time you booted the game for some reason, closes out on Necalli before fading to the title screen. Not mention how they initially said Necalli's character was going to be like. The stuttering animalistic Necalli was supposed to fade away in his true, V-Trigger form, in which Necalli was supposed to be a genius. They completely dropped that aspect and left him a blubbering, brain dead, savage. Capcom's handling of Necalli is one their biggest Street Fighter Ls.

JP has me interested. I'm still recovering from how they (mis)treated Necalli and skipped over G's arc in V, but JP does seemingly bring a new flavor to the established SF boss crew. You better stay away from him, not because he's gonna destroy/enslave/absorb you. You're just wasting his time, period.
I'd lose it if his win-quote to Ryu was something with sinister subtext like "Thank you for your cooperation." (in bringing down Bison and setting up the scene for me)

Now I'm imagining how he and Remy (or even V Nash had he been alive) would get along.

Thing is, Nakayama himself admitted he was not a perfect villain. Clearly they had more plans, but the character didn't focus-test well and they were forced to scale back the ambitions (or they were just lazy to make a proper boss battle, rather than simply have Bison with an activated V-Trigger).

It's their job to keep track of their fanbase's imagination, especially now when the management appears to be trying to be as transparent with their plans as possible.

I want to be optimistic Capcom this time will finally get free from their own mental chains where new stuff have to be subservient to old time villains

It's since Gill (1997) we don't get a new Boss/Villain designed with true ambition

Necalli could have been great, background wise being SF's pillar man had the street creds to be the most evil, ancient and menacing threat SF good guys ever had to face... we know how miserably it ended due Capcom lacking the balls to go all-in lmao 🥲

I want to believe in JP

But fact fucking Ken is going to beat his ass, WHILE COOL AF FOR KEN, it's already a sign we are unlikely to remember him too close to food chain top, unless they write it VERY well
