  1. It doesn't matter. Intel definitely already expects to lose with the first release of Arc. They're not going to worry unless Battlemage fails.
  2. I take all of you seriously all the time. I have no idea what some of you guys are thinking sometimes. 🙂 ...except @Sonero. I have no respect for flat-earthers. 🌎 Most fighting games and some shooters (notably COD) aim for 60, but plenty of other games don't. A lot of third person action games and big budget titles aren't a locked 60. Instead of just lowering the graphics a little to hit 60 all the time they instead spend the horsepower on making the graphics as pretty as possible. God of War, Spider-man, Uncharted, Horizon, Last of Us, Killzone, FF7:R, Bloodborne, and Driveclub all ran at 30fps. These were Playstation exclusives and the developers were some of the best on Sony hardware. They could have made fantastic 60fps games if they wanted to, but they didn't -- it's clear where the priority is. I myself prefer 60fps games but I was able to enjoy all of those games on launch at 30fps. For most people 30fps is simply good enough and graphics sell consoles. It's still a transitional phase right now and a lot of PS4 titles are finally running at 60fps on the new hardware. Cross-gen titles also run very well. I suspect this will go away though once everyone is on the newer hardware and devs need to squeeze nicer and nicer graphics out of the platform as it ages.
  3. Board partners ARE making Intel cards: The A770 is a 3070-class card that is hamstrung by drivers so badly it's basically a 3060. It's a decent start with a lot of problems. I'm pretty sure Intel expects this first gen to do poorly, and are placing all their bets on Battlemage, which is hopefully when drivers and other stuff will have matured. We'll have to see what the B series of GPU is like. If things haven't shaped up by then things might be looking bleak.
  4. It doesn't matter what Intel was thinking. This was always gonna be the result for a first gen product. Drivers are very very difficult to get right. It was always going to be a shitshow at first, and it's clear they're not even going to bother with older titles as much. Best to just focus on newer APIs and move forward rather than try to optimize decades worth of old games. AMD, a company which supposedly knows how to make graphics cards, has had broken drivers for the past half year. VIDEO HARDWARE ACCELERATION isn't currently working. That means in 2022 you can't even decode a Youtube video properly on an AMD card. Shit is wild.
  5. My man clearly you have not met the same people I have. 🙃 People who own PS4s as FIFA/COD machines are real.
  6. ??? The vast majority of console buyers are the type of person who buys like 2 or 3 games a year. They have no idea about anything other than "4k is good, look at those graphics". The type of person who buys a 4k television because they heard it's good -- but doesn't even know what 4k is. I don't think it's wrong to call em plebs. The vast majority of console marketing is designed for people like that. PS4 Pro was touted as a '4k console' but almost every game on it ran at a much lower resolution and was upscaled -- all so they could claim games ran at 4k. Xbox One X was similar. Even PS4 games running on PS5 cannot always handle native 4k/60. To expect the vast majority of console games to prioritize high framerate at the expense of prettier graphics is just not going to happen. Why try to please the (relatively) small group of people who care about framerate when most people just want to see flashy stuff all over their screen?
  7. We will never get past this. Consoles are for plebs and most plebs are ok with 30fps. They are also attracted to pretty graphics. It doesn't help that console devs use resolution as a marketing salespoint. Console devs will ALWAYS prioritize visuals/resolution over smooth/high framerates -- doesn't matter how good the hardware gets. By the time 4k 60 is the norm (and it's not even the norm on high-end PCs yet), we will be onto 8k -- and those games will likely still run below 60fps.
  8. No worries - you'll make that money back over time with the insane Steam sale prices / being able to use that hardware for years and years. 🙂
  9. Always build your own if possible. If you buy from Alienware/HP/etc you'll get cheap proprietary parts that don't always work well, and prevent you from upgrading stuff in the future. If you buy from a company that only uses off-the-shelf standard parts, you're usually paying a premium for labor/shipping that could be better spent on nicer parts. Unless you are really clumsy and don't like to follow instructions building a computer isn't that hard. Watch a video of the process and see if it's too much for you. It's basically just like assembling a Lego set with a phillips screwdriver. Building yourself also gives you access to the secondhand market (FB marketplace, etc.). Unlike with consoles, you don't need to use the latest gen stuff all the time. There are great deals to be had on stuff that is only a few gens old. There are people gaming happily with 7 year old CPUs.
  10. There have been some site performance problems in the past day or so. (Slow page loads, etc.) Things seem fine now, but if they persist or come back please post them in the feedback thread. Server might need upgrading. Thanks.

  12. I have noticed some minor annoyances since upgrading my GTX1080 to a 6700XT. There were some in-game stutters that were a pain to fix, and aggressive power-saving/GPU down-clocking makes it so that dragging UI windows around when out of game can occasionally be sluggish. Some driver features also seem a bit buggy. Freesync can be hit or miss and turning on integer scaling messes up framerates pretty badly for some reason. AMD drivers appear to support all the same features as Nvidia, but when you try to actually use them they don't always work as well. There's no doubt the overall user experience is much more polished with Nvidia. I don't really regret switching though. The price/performance ratio and raw rasterization power are good enough for me at the moment.
  13. All hail Fortnite. I eagerly await the day when Space Marines make it in. Then DarkSakul will play it too. 😈
  14. I mean, that's mostly because you guys are crazy. 🙂 I let it rock, but tbh I think it's weird people don't use the general forum for general discussion. Maybe one day I will make you guys talk general in GD.
  15. I spent so many hours playing this on DC, and it's not even that good. ❤️
  16. I think I read somewhere that he just does roles for fun now. He decides to do random-ass movies the same way you might decide to randomly pick up a Big Mac on the way home from work. I can respect it.
  17. Listen. Some people just need help pouring their milk, ok? I saw a feature request from someone asking for the ability to move posts from one location to another. It's almost like people are trying to use Discord like a forum. Weird. 🤔

  20. I can't believe Capcom stole the ox boss from Karnov's Revenge and put him in SF6. smh
