  1. Capcom Channel (Japan) is doing a 4 part World Tour preview part 1 is up now. It doesn’t show us too much except the character creator and intro to story mode but the next 3 parts will definitely be stuff we haven’t seen before in Metro City.
  2. I wanted pretty pictures along with a side story that goes with them😭🤣😭🤣🤷🏾‍♂️
  3. I saw the side story option as content similar to Oro story where he met Dhalsim and had dinner with his family. I don't care for novel like content tbh. To be fair that was also important too despite what you think. The Dhalsim /Oro side story was similar to importance as any of the side stories regarding SF that build character into the characters we already know. Without the side stories people wouldn’t debate; Akuma is such a nice guy and not a villain because he saves lost children in his caves and sells fruit on the side of his fights. Or the fact the fact that Goutetsu, M. Bison and Rose’s master existed and died fighting their students . Or Thawks backstory with his father and Bison. C.Viper actually having a partner named Blue Raven who sacrificed himself tracking down Bison. All of these elements were hidden in the backstory because Capcom refused to put them on the forefront, and fans should be considerate of the backstory giving them so much of the content of the main characters so far. The Dhalsim vs Oro story was important because it doesn’t give the energy they use (qi) a polarity. It’s not just good vs evil or negative vs positive. Oro describes the power just as it should be viewed. A grey area free to the users will. Psycho Power, SnH, Mu, Kiko, whatever the user calls the power it’s all the same source distilled upon the users will and values. It literally ranked 2nd although a far 2nd to unused character designs. It’s important to SF fans but as long as Capcom continues to put SF story at the back burner to everything else in SF this is what we’ll get in terms of story……a far second.
  4. To be fair I just thought that the “side story” option encompassed the “character analysis” section because you know they have to write a backstory for all of these characters 😝🤣🤷🏾‍♂️
  5. I get your point and I agree that it’s interesting to see what could have been. It’s even cooler to see some rejected elements make it into the game. Im just saying from what I’ve seen in terms of hype building for the game which is what excites the fans. The character reviews for the SF5 developers site brought way more discussion and speculation into who would be brought into the game in later seasons. Some of the characters that were featured in the character analysis before they were introduced in game made it into the latter seasons (Oro and Rose) and some of them didn’t (Sodom, Eagle, Retsu, Lee, etc). A lot of them had art redesigns which fans loved. Sure the unused elements eventually make it into the game and we get to see the progression of the design (the fighter president turns into G). Though you have to wonder why some of your favorites who are already established didn’t. It’s cool to see them give them some recognition even if they aren’t in the game initially. I personally thought that the character analysis were more effective in hype building and discussion than the unused designs that’s all 🤷🏾‍♂️
  6. It’s good to see that SF story is still something that is important to fans to some degree. The unused character designs wasn’t something they really focused on in their last developers site although they did provide some interesting information. If the character reviews fall under the category of “side stories” then I feel like some fans are kidding themselves. When they start redesigning characters in whatever art form and posting their backstory on some website all the fans go wild speculating about who and when their favorite characters are being included into the game. We all know that 🙄
  7. But we all know Akuma is the name Capcom of US gave him to make him seem like the big bad where as in Japan his name meaning already has a darker undertone but isn’t necessarily wholeheartedly evil albeit extreme. My point was to show that you could do a similar name meaning change although with same name in Japanese. Of course explaining these sorts of nuances in a fighting game backstory would be tedious and for the sake of simplicity Gouki changing into Akuma is just what fans are used to at this point. Though the way I see it at one point Gouki meant “Strong Spirit” until the point he chose the path of SnH then the connotation changes to mean “Great Ogre” Everyone refers to Gouki as such although individuals such as Gouken or even Ryu for instance will chastise Gouki for corrupting or contaminating his spirit, Hado, and abandoning humanity. This should be the nod that alludes to Gouki’s “spirit” and how he has contaminated it in pursuit of power.
  8. I'm pretty sure that was from the "Assassin's Fist" plot. Wasn't it? In my “head canon” since Gouki and Gouken are brothers, and Gouken translates in “Strong Fist” 剛拳 I’d like to think that before his fall from grace Gouki would have translated to “Great Spirit” 豪気 (still pronounced Goh-kee) . It suits them both as Gouken was older and physically he’s a sturdier build between the two while Gouki had more will to push himself beyond what he could physically do. It’s only after Gouki becomes obsessed with the SnH that the “Oni” overcomes his spirit hence why he changes his name to mean “Great Ogre” 豪鬼.
  9. Ken likely gets invited by JP himself. They're together in the preview panels of the comic and they seem to have a benign relationship during this time. We also know from the preview that Mel is with some bouncer looking guy that Luke is tracking. Right, but from the preview synopsis says that Ken makes himself known at the tournament and is done running away. Its almost as if this tournament isn't one he entered willingly but by force. JP maybe manipulating these terrorist attacks on his own and then using Ken as a fallguy. What better way to manipulate a population in thinking your a national hero than creating your own problems and blaming them on another before you take action in solving them. Ken's; "Masters Organization" maybe in direct conflict or competition with JP's GMO. This maybe JP's way in removing a potential high profile competitor in his business and in the ring.
  10. Just a hunch but since JP is the national hero of Nayshall he's obviously the one behind the new tournament Ken enters. The bombings are obviously going to be framed on Ken for some reason. Ken is probably going to have to choose between protecting his family by giving them up in some form whether that be physical estrangement or something worse so he chooses to alienate his family for the best outcome regarding the circumstances. Ken seems reluctant to enter this tournament and it maybe because his family is at stake. Though it seems he's willing to put it all on the line for them. It seems it may cost him as well unfortunately. You know with this plot revolving around terrorist causing citywide explosions and characters having to make choices makes me think of the circumstances revolving other media. I hope Ken doesn't have to make a choice similar to what occurs in the Dark Knight
  11. That's true, his attacks feature volcano like explosions already so his hair might just imply a large powerful explosion. If you notice his knuckles on his hands in this design are meant to represent mountains. Overall his design in this concept art was meant to show that he was a living force of nature to his rocky knuckles, waterfall tears, and cloud like hair. When G enters "President Mode" his skin does take on this darker tone like in the concept art although besides his spinning golden global tattoos his current design doesn't represent the Earths attributes like this one does. The "30" is obvious a nod to the series as a whole and nothing really much to go off of besides that in terms of story. When we look at G in terms of how he's presented he does come off as a ringleader of a show. When he was introduced in the "Arcade Edition" of the game the introduction and theme changed to reflect a "grand show" (Gold, Spotlights, Chun Li applying make up, a background set) Gill's win quote to G implies that he knows who or what he is. "An undocumented power... Is this person just a clown, or perhaps..." He thinks of him as a clown... Menat draws the Fool card with G on it
  12. This design is pretty disturbing I didn't really analyse it at the time because it's discarded concept art. Though given the status that G is and the fact even the most powerful of the cast like Oro and Gill are somewhat disturbed by G is telling to his power. I just noticed that his hairstyles in this concept is literally shaped like a mushroom cloud from a nuclear explosion. I'm not sure why he's crying (translation says that instead of blinking he just sheds tears like a waterfall) but I take it if this is his "true" version of himself he maybe poised for complete world anihillation. The win quote Oro has against him implies G is a manifestation of a "natural disaster" "I don't know who you are, but you appear to be the manifestation of a natural disaster." 😮 something I just realized about this design too. When G was conceptulized and released it was around the time of the 30th anniversary of Street Fighter (2018 The anniversary collection released as well as the DLC season which features G) This design concept of G features a beard that when turned on its side resembles a "30". He also sports a dagger with a hilt that resembles the number 30 as well.🤔 In fact his dagger and beard also seem to resemble a Vajra. The Vajra being a weapon with power akin to a thunderbolt and as durable as diamond. Even Akuma envies the Vajra as he implies that some his techniques maybe able to rival it (KKZ) Of course this is just discarded concept art but it might suggest as to what G was conceptulized to be. Was G the boss meant to commemorate a grand anniversary?
  13. The whole thing about him being a villain who represents "duality" is something that the developers have been doing for a long time with the villain but it has been very apparent. Gill and Seth for example obviously represent duality within their designs. Duality within an abbreviation of a name however is very mysterious. We know there's an obvious duality in his story and how he is viewed on the world scale (national hero) versus what he's implied to be doing (plunderer)
  14. To be fair the eye bags was a joke but I was serious about the shoulder straps. There's a comic featured in the SF3 Secret File in which Mel (Ken's son) asks why Alex doesn't wear his suspenders up. When Alex shows him why Mel is horrified for the obvious fact that his suspenders are too tight. Especially at the crotch level 🤣 In SF5 he hides his Moose Knuckles with his plaid shirt tied around his waist.
  15. To be fair even if this is official when you look at what's being presented as a whole story we can say that SFZ3 and SF2 are separate stories but we know by what's being presented in media that these stories are entwined. SF2 still has no definitive story beyond a fighting tournament being held. The SF4 anime prelude trailer seems to imply that the Psycho Drive was still operating after the events of SF2 and had been up until Bison's initial destruction. Now it could be that that Shadaloo had remade the Psycho Drive in a short time but it would seem redundant and unlikely given the circumstances. We know Mikas ending is Canon so SFZ3 had to have happened in some sense. I'd just like to simplify it into one event lol. The plain Shoryuken scarring Sagat is something I do agree with however. The technique was initially a finisher and meant to end a fight as quickly as possible with a possibility of mortal injury. It was only after the introduction of Satsui no Hado that the SRK had to be of that variety in order to scar or kill someone. Though I feel initially this wasn't the case and as it was a originally a special sure kill technique without SnH and had to be carefully and perfectly executed in order not to kill someone. Though it's power alone could render an opponent unconscious with one well placed strike like in the original SF.
  16. Hey @ScotiaGreat job on those translations. The one about Alex really struck me when I first read it a while ago because it made me realize something about his original design that went over my head for so long. The lines hes has on his shoulders in SF 3 aren't paint or scars but are a direct cause of him wearing his suspenders all the time during SF5. By the time of SF3 he has nearly permanent indents from the tightening straps against his shoulders. Because of this fact I also don't think the marks under his eyes are scars or paint of any kind but they are stylized eyebags. Alex trains too much and gets almost no sleep. @Miðgarðsormand I had theorized that because Alex's hometown is New York city which has been dubbed "the city that never sleeps" Alex's sleep schedule must be horrible and he gets very little. His mentor Tom who resembles Jean Reno is also famous for having bags under his eyes as well🤣 I noticed that the shaded lines under Toms eyes in certain artwork have a similar outline to Alex's eye marks but are shaded a natural color unlike Alex's Alex's story in SF5 is also based around his horrible sleep schedule. His attitude is very dreary and moody as if he's always tired. In fact he initially falls asleep of his own volition during lunch time (midday) in the beginning of his story. No need for sleeping gas from the Shadaloo soldiers, though they would use it later to subdue him and remove him from Shadaloo labs after testing. He probably wouldn't have been kidnapped by Shadaloo and forced to endure FANGs experiments had he not needed his mid day nap😴 His story mode costume is the only one not to feature his eye bags because of the fact that he's basically at the start of his journey at this point. Its the youngest canon appearance he has.
  17. Cammy just needs to be treated better in general. Cammys bday is literally a day after mine so that means she’s a Capricorn and a GOAT so I hate seeing her getting kicked around like some stray cat in canon. She has an arsenal of cool moves yet even in the anime she only has one real shining moment in assassinating an old senator. Yet her whole story in canon is about redemption from her acts as a Shadaloo member. She managed to save her sisters but how many losses did she endure doing it? Basically all of the ones that may have established her above the mainstream World Warriors. Cammy could beat Juri without her eye hax too because she’s genetically amplified with Bisons DNA but we’re not having that discussion here.
  18. When Cammy gets a relevant win over another opponent that isn’t Officer Pete from ASF then she’ll be released from this bad stigma of a losing streak she’s been on in canon Cviper =Loss Juri = Loss Vega = Loss
  19. What’s interesting about Zangiefs back scar is that in SF6 there are two parts to it. Because this was an assassination attempt that Gief protected Gorbachev from he not only has the wound on his back but also an exit wound directly parallel to the back scar but on his stomach in SF6 that previously wasn’t featured in any other game. Someone shot a high caliber piercing round at Gief meant for Gorbachev and it indeed looks like it went right through his back and out his torso.
  20. To be fair Cammy has been getting bodied pretty hard in media and canon since SF4. Remember her encounter with CViper?
  21. True but now we know for sure whose in the base roster and who isn’t. Well if we got another anime out of it that would be cool. Obviously the rap theme for SF6 doesn’t translate well and they probably used this song for marketing as it’s featured in the movie only overseas. Gief has his back scar from protecting Gorbachev! This game has too much detail 😮
  22. Also who knew that the whole SF2 Japanese anime finale song was remade for SF6 in its entirety?
  23. Also the Japanese trailer using the Japanese theme from the Ryu & Ken vs Bison anime fight. The trailer mentions that it’s commemorating “all” 18 characters. I’m assuming that means base roster is now announced. The remaining characters from the leak must be DLC (Ed, Rashid, Aki, Akuma)
  24. SF6 is definitely the most brutal of the all the SF games so far. Between Jamie ripping tracheas out and Cammy performing Mortal Khiropractic on opponents it definitely brings a more mature feel that the series has been lacking recently. Plus it manages to keep all the lighthearted fun with newcomers like Lily and Kimberly. There are some subtle differences between the anime version and SF6. Mainly in SF6 the opponents go along with the momentum of Cammy’s initial neck twist thus Cammy just turns them around violently and takes their knees out with the neck hold takedown. In the anime the poor senators neck unfortunately just goes along with the momentum of Cammys neck twist and is completely turned 180 degrees. Cammy the Chiropractor 🩻 After that treatment JP should’t have to use his cane for the remainder of SF6.
