  1. Mega Drive/Genesis will always be better to me since it has more games that I like for it. Don't get me wrong the SNES has some of my fave games like Super Metroid, FF5 and 6, DKC, Contra 3, MMX, Wild Guns but then I look at the Mega Drive and Alien Soldier is there, Contra: Hard Corps, Rocket Knight Adventures, Sonic 3&K, Gunstar Heroes, Splatterhouse 2, SoR1/2 etc etc. which are all way more interesting to me with maybe the exception of MMX To me the ratio of Quality AND Quantity sits with the MD, plus the soundchip absolutely mogs the SNES', and no, shitty western devs relying on GEMS doesn't prove otherwise. But, again, it's all just preference, like RSG said, it has plenty of action games that hit that big arcade feel and that's what I like.
  2. HP > HP is +3 MP > MK is + 2 Backdash/Jump/OD Uppercut's will beat the grab/throw attempts but then you'll start seeing st.LK/c.LK/c.LP to stop your jumps and combo you. If you don't Backdash/Jump out of the grab attempts after her vacuum target combos then the Manon will abuse that shit until they can't anymore.
  3. So the Unity thing is somehow even worse. Also if you delete and then reinstall the game it counts as another install on the runtime fee. What an absolute dogshit company.
  4. So Unity, which is a pretty widely used game engine, is going to start charging game developers after a certain thresh-hold of installs. Not Unity installs, but the games made with Unity and it's per install. So if someone bought a Unity game on steam and installed it to their desktop and steam deck, the dev would be charged twice. It's also likely that pirated copies would also count towards this. I see this either being backtracked or the company/engine just going away because that sounds insane.
  5. Man, I was wondering why Unreal got pulled from steam and isn't available to buy on Epic... that's so fucking sad, literally the game that their own engine(s) were built for, actually ground breaking stuff for videogames and just "Nah, they're old lol". Like did they need the server space for more Fortnite skins or?
  6. Oh shit, that reminds me I picked up the 360 version like 2 years ago because of Series X BC and I guess I forgot about it. Seriously it's like I buy games, pop em on my shelf and then some Eldritch horror just absorbs it into the void so I forget about it. A game I did buy and didn't forget about was Contra Hard Corps: Uprising, bless up backwards compat, but yeah jaysus that game is tough. Actually had to restart the last level because after killing the last boss I missed jumping to the helicopter and lost my last life 😭
  7. Made a little bit more progress wit my dev project. System dialogue boxes, Saving/Loading* and the beginnings of my battle system. I'm not quite sure if I'm going to be able to hit my Halloween deadline for at least a prologue/demo since time constraints and dev roadblocks but it's kinda coming together. I just need to keep reminding myself that once the systems are in place and my games "engine" is built, it's smooth sailing with level design, combat ai, spriting and *gulps* music. My save system currently has some kinks in the wiring somewhere but I'm fairly certain the error "shouldn't" be much of an issue even when the game is exported.
  8. >Genre list >Metroidvania Final Boss So Metroidvanias are a music genre now... I feel like Sam Neil at the end of In The Mouth of Madness
  9. I wish she'd make me cry big salty "tears"...
  10. It's actually starting to boil my piss. Gonna start referring to adventure platformers as Monty Mole-likes from now on.
  11. I've been watching a few youtube vids reviewing various MGS games, and I noticed 2 separate reviewers say that MGS games are/parallel "metroidvanias" Absolute dipshittery.
  12. I thought the Shadow of the Colossus remake (and HD remaster) broke how climbing and stamina worked from the original PS2 version? Basically you're forced into holding on more when the colossus' move? Maybe I'm remembering wrong I actually can't think of a remake I've played that I liked over the original, thinking about it I can't actually think of a many remakes I've played at all. Oh wait REmake 1 is amazing, I liked REmake 2 a whole lot but I feel it falls short of the OG RE2, it's not paced as well imo and the scenarios of the OG games are a lot better. The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth is basically a remake and a much improved version of the original flash version.
  13. It's hard being a Manon player and knowing that her countrymen once helped fucking traitor scum. Anyway have a great Independence Day ❤️
  14. Man playing MGS again has got me thinking about MG1 and 2 and how they're desperately screaming to be remade rather than Snake Eater. Each game in the MGS series has theme it explores, "GENE", "MEME", "SCENE" and so on and for MG1 and 2 I think their respective theming could, or should?, be INHERITANCE and ACCEPTANCE both of which are woven between each other. I think you could play off Metal Gear 1 as test for Snake by the real Big Boss, Big Boss sending his two best in Snake and Fox, if they can bring down Venom and stop Metal Gear, has Venom really inherited the will of Big Boss, and by proxy The Boss? Could Fox or Snake be trusted to inherit The Boss' will too? We know by the end Fox does as he states in MG2 that he shares Big Boss' ideology. Can Venom truly live up to what he inherited from Big Boss? Or has learning the truth skewed his mind? Living with the fact that he is now not just a medic in Outer Heaven, but as someone who is both living in the shadow and who is the shadow of Big Boss. I think you could play on the more emotional side of a rookie Solid Snake, not as green as goose shit Meryl but still having to swallow his emotions when killing a soldier across from him and maybe his guilt from maybe being too late for some POWs. Can a rookie really inherit a "legendary" status, even when killing a ""legend""? MG2 starts with Snake being brought out retirement for the first time and if we play on what we're told in MGS he's the legendary hero that killed Big Boss in Outer Heaven. While everyone accepts him as a hero, he (Snake) cannot and only accepts what he truly is "I'm just a man who's good at what he does. Killing." and "I'm no hero, never was, never will be. I'm just an old killer hired to do some wet work." Even though Snake knows betrayal is a part of his job, can he accept that Fox has defected? That Big Boss is in fact still alive? and technically his father? Snake is pretty cynical about the status as a hero or a legend in MGS and he's always looking for answers when suspecting foul play, constantly yelling at Campbell for answers as they both know Campbell isn't telling the whole truth, and he's ready to accept that he's being bullshitted too a lot in the MGS series, but in the Metal Gear 2 you could really play in to that. Snake just accepting that he's nothing more than a hand that points a gun, a puppet being controlled from every side and that even killing loved ones is just a job at the end of the day. I dunno I'm kinda high and it might be a bit rambly but it's something I think about whenever MGS re-emerges into my life.
  15. So I'm playing MGS 1 again and I'm fighting Psycho Mantis and because the Playstation classic is an absolute piece of shit the "HIDEO" av black screen overlay wasn't loading and it gave me a glimpse of what happens behind that. It's nothing particularly exiting or mind blowing but Snake's position gets locked as does the controls and Mantis just floats to a randomized position on the field and it's pretty much exactly how I've got my Resi style door transitions. Now I'm not trying to say I'm some kind of game dev genius but it's pretty clear that I am. Hire me Konami.
  16. I dunno from what I can gather it's a tutorial boss and all he's doing is mashing dodge and attacking occasionally, I mean I'm pretty sure I could boot up say Bayonetta or something similar and do the same there. Not trying to white knight here but from what I saw at my friends yesterday it does seem quite a bit more involved gameplay wise.
  17. Yeah I knew that 16 was being dev'd by some of the 14 team, with Yoshi P heading, I just didn't expect elements from 14 to show up pretty much directly. It makes me wonder what's in store later but alas I have a 6 month wait. And honestly Yoshi P is dead on with wanting to restore the name of Final Fantasy, people ignore the online games as being mainline, 12 was hit and miss for a lot people, 13 is 13 and 15 was honestly dogshit from every single angle. I'm really happy for Yoshi P and his team especially since from what I can tell from the initial response to 16 he's gotten his wish.
  18. My friend showed me some of the early game of FFXVI and I was so happy that Suparna and Chirada showed up since, from my knowledge, they're from XIV.
  19. I don't think anyone should die either and I hope they're saved, but I'm still going to joke about it. Plus if you ignore you're safety officers concerns and still want to fuck about with submarines and the dangers of water pressure well then be prepared to be fucking mocked. 🤷
