Had a few friends give it a go with little or no OP knowledge and enjoyed it. They might give the anime or manga a try so hey that's a win in my book. A few questions and some course correction they asked about but hey more OP is never a bad thing.

I still am not interested in Live Action OP, it doesn't nothing for me. Yes I am biased because I love animation but I at least give the team involved kudos (well Oda) for sticking to the source and not trying to "modernize" anything normies would see as bad...so far. MEANWHILE...
 
Keep in Mind that Cowboy Bebop had a better rating...

The first episode is probably the most straight forward in terms of adaptation.  The arcs are still fairly faithful afterward with either missing characters, characters who were not there originally, or there a slight scenic change for where conflicts take place.  Luffy's actor is the cringiest but the thing is...it comes with the territory of playing a character like him.  I think the standouts were Zoro, Sanji, and Mihawk. 

As I mentioned in another thread at least they have the cast look like the character but it seems like it doesn't matter if the acting isn't up to par. Having said that a reimagine would give current fans a reason to watch as it's something different BUUUUUT I dislike most modern reimagined variants of shows/movies. Very picky with that. 
 
I think my stance is if the IP is already doing well what is the point of such a variant? The series isnt even over yet. 

Tried watching the live action. I'm still at ep 1 but I'm cringing, acting seems unnatural and forced. IMO One Piece cannot translate to any other medium than Manga/Anime. Shit's too forced and cringe in the live action. But from what I'm seeing on reddit people seem to like this show.

The fact that even emotions like love (e.g., S-Snake crushing on Luffy) can carry through the Lineage Factor hearkens back to earlier when Lilith was complaining that the Cyber-seakings still retained their bestial instincts despite being controlled, their intrinsic nature remains strong. Judge Vinsmoke  also sought to eliminate the humanity out of his brood's Lineage Factor with Sanji's being his "failure"  This hints that it's possible that The Will of D  is something that can carry through indirect family lines, even though the original concept of that will has been lost to history.  Essentially meaning as long as the desire for freedom exists in these individuals, The Will of D  will never cease to be.
