From the GG article, I remember expressing this back when we were still on srk. I'm all for bringing in new players and all. But I've yet to see a modern fighting game take this approach and it pay off. Casuals play story mode and play a couple times with friends and are done. The worst possible outcome would be that neither ASW players nor new players will play the game, so they have to draw the line somewhere for which part of the audience they want to draw in.

This is my first time actually playing vf against anyone other than my brother so it's been a learning experience. Went with taka since I never got to play him since all I had was vanilla vf5. Read a basic guide and jumped straight online started actually winning ranked up a couple times. Regardless of tier lists I don't think I have what it takes to get too much farther with him. Ryu..erm I mean Akira and all the other smaller characters seem to give me such a hard time with him. But it's mainly I have a tough time converting into big damage with him which is his whole thing. So it's probably just me.

I needed this although I'm not entirely clear on it either. It seems maybe the last few evades are option selects since they cover throws and block as well. But I'm dumb so 🤷

Played around 13 matches on vf5 and all the matches felt good. Obviously that's not enough to make a call on the netcode but it's a start.

I know I've been gone but just watched @Skorton twitch went from not really playing to super plat quick. You've been downplaying your skills lol. PS- between the pre-stream graphic and the juri mod with jiggle physics twitch cops finna have you locked up lol

Yeah I've come into this pretty much expecting no rollback. The good thing is vf5's netcode was supposed to be pretty decent, I haven't used it before but I've seen people streaming it here and there and never saw anything sus. I'm still holding out hope that since it's competitive focused that maybe Sega put a little work into the netcode.

I just saw and was coming to post this lol. Let's go, I know Sega stripped stuff from their other "xesports" projects I hope they didn't do the same to this. Still pretty hyped.

I honestly play whoever I agree sol and ky are pretty straightforward in their game, pretty much shotos. I was also considering pot since he's a grappler and I main Laura ( I know not a complete grappler) and always had haggar on my team in umvc3.

I won't be in till Saturday but I'll definitely be trying the strive beta out. The hardest part is deciding who to play. Since i won't have much time I'm going to go with whoever's easiest to pick up and play.

I definitely didn't ignore +R I have no way to play it. If I could have gotten it I would have, hell I bought kof2002 last week just because it was getting the netcode patch. Plus this game is new, beautiful, has all the hype going. Off the top of my head only KI,MK, and skull girls shipped with good netcode so as far as the fgc goes I see why it's getting so much buzz

I hate to be greedy but I really hope they add full cross play into strive. We could all play each other without worrying about who lives where and all that. Add me into no time to play camp. Between being states away from home most of the time and having kids, really getting to grind and learn a game is tough to do.

I'm still iffy on picking up strive, even if I don't stick with it I'll probably try it. I try to think of it as voting with my wallet instead of a waste of money. They've done so much between the netcode and little quality of life things. You can reset and change positions with different button combinations instead of going through the menu, and also save dummy recordings. Etc etc I mean I bought all the sfv seasons the least I could do is throw some money to a company really trying.
