  1. Okie dokie, the reviews I expected for KotZ ("It sucks!") are finally starting to pour in. Had me worried that somehow they made something good. Heard it's flopping big time at the box office, as well. Being that the first run of showings were in Japan and LATAM, if they tank there it's a safe bet they're going to tank everywhere other than than maybe China.
  2. I'm seeing a lot of 7/10 and 8/10, saying that the cast did their best with what they had to work with and that Ikki (called Nero now because multiethnic retcon), Seiya, and Marin were highlights followed by Famke deciding to put some effort into her villain spot. Although to be fair, being Ikki's actor is Mexican, if he didn't tear the house down, he probably would have had his citizenship revoked LOL
  3. This has been more a problem for me at meetups than at tournaments, everyone talking to me and then the loud clicking of these boxes while playing Tekken is too much stimulation at once, and harder for me to lock in compared to a tournament when I'm on stage. Anyone else have this problem?
  4. This should've been how their interaction went down in their rival battle in SFxT.
  5. I've had an SRK account since 2004-5 but I spent most of my online time from 2005-2011 on Tekken Zaibatsu. I hung around there starting with SSF4 after I decided Tekken 6 wasn't hitting like DR did, then when SFxT got announced SRK was my go-to until it finally shut down and all the splinter discords came about. TZ was like SRK with less "toxicity" helped along by neat little perks like character emotes and the Tekken DR Ghost Library where you could play people's ghosts on your PSP by downloading it from the forums. Putting all my fraudulent Divine Fist ranks on that site was something that kept me there for like 4-5 years until I started to drift once SF4 came out. I THINK TZ is back now? It went up and down for a while. I should check in again. EDIT: nope, now you have to be an admin to access it. Dang.
  6. Anything that isn't attacking people for shit that they can't help about themselves should be fair game. Like with the post I made earlier, if you tell some of these people that they need to chill out or hold them accountable for starting something with you, they'll flip their shit and call you names and act like you attacked them out of pocket. And of course, it results in NO games. With some of the more recent beefs, I suspect it's a situation where they are either afraid I would wipe the floor with them in whatever it is I put my training into and then make a scene of it, or they don't play video games for the same reason I do. I'm not here to form a clique. I'm here to express my love of the game and use that love to prop it up for the world to see.
  7. Last weekend another TO told me that I was namedropped in someone's twitlonger. It's the same dimwit who started a hate thread about me when I joined Freshcut and then flipped their shit calling me names when I called her out on being a nuisance. This time the conspiracy theory around me is that the person she's mad at (who I'm not on speaking terms with following that same Freshcut situation) is in cahoots with me because I didn't get kicked from the TMNTxJL discord. For those keeping score, I was one of the main writers and promoters of that game as well as one of its best players last year, I stuck around mostly to make sure that the Matcherino League finished and that all the work and money I put into the project was properly credited when it was time for it to go public. https://www.twitlonger.com/show/n_1ss9ekq As @Volttold me earlier, I'm greatly looking forward to SF6 because if your game isn't a regular presence on the main stage, you may be subject to having your name played around with like this.
  8. Suns about to get swept. CP3 is like 0-16 in playoff games reffed by Foster.
  9. I got my hands on FGCOS. I'll be doing a field test today with JuriKillsFriend before we head off to see NJPW. Review will come but what I've played so far feels really, really good. SFxT Final Form stuff.
  10. I'm seeing it more like "even if the movie is trash as a Seiya movie, at least Mackenryu as Seiya hard-carries." I felt the same about Tony Jaa in MonHun, if not for him the movie would have been significantly worse than it already was. Also I just got my tickets to see it May 13th. I wonder if it'll be a "private" showing like the one time I went to see Terminator Genisys.
  11. LOL if this movie turns out to be good and no one knows about it so it doesn't get a sequel.
  12. I'm taking JuriKillsFriend and his wife to see NJPW Capital Collision this Saturday. The card looks more like a house show than a rare NJPW appearance in DC. https://www.njpw1972.com/tornament/140277?showCards=1
  13. There are definitely artifacts of bad particularly in World Warrior but let’s not act like Capcom didn’t quickly figure out those growing pains hence the constant title updates. There’s a reason games like HF, ST and even USF2 still feel good to play. It just works on a basic level.
  14. I loved this movie, particularly how it felt like The Batman which I thought was underrated.
  15. Yeah, that's what I meant about the Busted Game Subgenre. You have specialists like SonicFox and GO1, and to a lesser extent people like Nerdjosh, but like you and Sonero said, after you see it once, you gradually and sometimes rapidly want to see it less because of that degeneracy.
  16. Your pat on the back is appreciated, sir. DNF, BFTG and Skullgirls have a playerbase but as you said, they have a lot more going for it where they should be a lot bigger than they are. DNF in particular has ArcSys' marketing and street cred behind it but I don't think this new update is going to do anything more than be a blip that quickly goes back to a near flatline. BFTG community appeals to the Busted Game subgenre that isn't nearly as big as people would like to say it is. I pushed it largely due to loyalty to the PR brand and the notion that it was still early in its life and balance wasn't final, then the devs and community insisted it only get even more broken and now high level matches tend to look very similar to each other in terms of how the flow unfolds, which was the opposite of the feedback I gave them based on what Arturo's viewers wanted to see. Skullgirls is weird because they'll randomly get a big number of players competing but despite how many chances it gets to shine, it never feels like it SHINES. I think it's the BFTG issue but on a bigger scale: everyone wants to be MVC2 but it's ignoring the fact that MVC2 by in large was a beneficiary of being in the right place at the right time: you had an enthusiastic voice like Yipes providing a backing track of wild stuff that no one else had seen before featuring characters that were etched in our gaming and comic culture. If MVC2 hadn't featured the company or the characters, would anyone really be buzzing about it? Probably not. With SFxT, and even TMNTxJL and MVCI, a lot of the success I've seen with pushing those games have come from the notion that they are legitimately good games while also being coherent enough where anyone can tell what's going on and it not be immediately met with "Wow that looks really unfair." By my own admittance, a lot of my BFTG commentary was focusing on being Ranger/Tokusatsu fan first because what else am I going to fill in space for a combo that goes on forever until it's dropped, either on accident or to set up a reset/unblockable? But with the other games I rep, it's as you said, the gameplay hits well enough to an observer that you can go "wow this is expert level play at the commentator is doing a great job explaining the offense and defense implemented in the shifts!"
