I'll be starting off with I-No as I've mostly been playing her in +R.  I've also been learning a bit of Ky on the side, so I'll be giving him a try as well.  Also Gio looks like fun and I'm side eyeing Zato.  But I'm going to have wait until Friday to see how everyone feels...

(Everyone will be pushed aside when Dizzy appears though.)

Don't put yourself down too much, I'm the British one here.  You kept pushing me to the corner and mixing up your options, so you were making it hard for me to read you and know when to use 6P to get out of pressure.  Thanks, after player DBFZ for a while, you have to develop a good sense of movment and being able to escape the corner.  I need to work on my pressure and mix-ups though.  I'm still smashing my plam on the buttons at the minute to get combs out, but some are starting full in to place.  I also need to learn FRC combos in order increase I-No's damage output.

No worries for not being around for more games, at the end of the day, I'm just a ramdon bloke off the internet.  Plus, if I had access to the beta, I would be doing the same.  I've been watching plenty of streams and youtube vids of Stive so I don't feel totally left out.  I should be about on Sunday, but I'm having my first covid jab today, so I might feel pretty crap tomorrow.  I'll let you know.

I-No is looking pretty similar to her Xrd version in beta, so I'm hoping it's not going to be a huge jump from +R to Srive.

I actually like the whole tower stuff they got going on. Ranked is nice in the sense of a "Carrot on a stick" goal. It's nice to have something tangible to chase. Not to mention being able to play a lot of different people with all kinds of styles and strategies.

On the other hand, when it comes to truly learning a game, especially matchup-wise, quality, long sets against someone are still extremely important and fun.

    Balance is key.

Yeah we had a real good back and forth going.

I appreciate the compliment but I think my pressure still sucks haha. I'm still really getting the feeling of what +R pressure feels like. Some tumblers are ticking into place but I still have a long way to go especially with someone like HoS who needs to bulldog. You did a great job of dancing all around and forcing me to chase, then hitting me with a guitar.

With the Strive beta going live today I do want to dip into that for a bit while its live (from this evening until Sunday morning, barring any hiccups/extensions). After that though I'm back on +R full time. Depending on how Sunday goes I may be around sometime then for games.

GGs too, some good close sets.  Your pressure in the corner was good, tested my defence.  Let us know when you're up for more.

Looks like there has been a small up tick in numbers, also there was a sizeable boost after the first beta...

Oh, I found this really useful vid for getting started in +R:

What are your thoughts on not having ranked in Strive?  I'm personnally for it, a) It stops the player base being spilt. b) It should go someway to stopping people from reaching a lowish rank and then only chosing casuals. c) Ultimately, ranked is just an e-di@k contest, which you don't win anything for.  Don't get me wrong, I am guilty of caring about my rank at times, but you're any as good as your next match.

In DBFZ and Tekken, I'll chose to go on ranked because that's the best chance of being matched with someone of a similar skill level.  Yes, you have to fight better players than youself to improve but, if you're just being stomped on, you don't learn anything or enjoy it.  Having said that, I get better matches in player matches than ranked in +R.

No worries, I should be good for Weds.  I did have two people join the room, who were about the same skill level as myself.  We had a good hour an a half, sets like those really help.

Also, as a certified I-No main... I DEMAND SIDE BOOB!

    (Honestly I don't really care)

I'm down for some games, if you don't mind fighting a crazy I-No.  I'm in the UK, I guess you're probably in the States?  But if you want to suggest some times and we'll see how it falls.

NGL "I-No Who I Am" is pretty strong.

Also @Laughingmanmy schedule is kinda funky but I'm trying to play a bunch of +R before Strive drops so if you ever want to get games in we can definitely try to set that up.

Yeah one of the nicest things about +R being the way it is (and them continuing to work on it) is that it's just...there. If Strive doesn't jive, the servers are down, or you just miss the feel of that game you can really easily go back to it and it's very playable in the current environment (i.e. functional rollback). Not a lot of series have that luxury with subsequent retail releases (not immediately subsequent since Xrd is still sorta left hanging).

I'm very interested in seeing how I-No turns out in Strive. I'm kinda side eyeing her as a choice due to her lore of all things (also dig her redesign and hey tiddies).

Speaking of lore vol 4 is up:

The Strive beta has been only thing, which has mildly tempted me to buy a PS4.  In order to get my GG fix, I've playing Plus R recently, (we get are own beta this weekend https://steamcommunity.com/app/348550?snr=1_2108_9__2107 ).  I've been surprised at how many games I'm getting on a night, even though there's only 300-500 people on, according to steam charts.  I'm getting my arse kicked most of the time, but it's still soo much fun.  Putting the controller setting to lenient, does help with execution on a stick.   While Dizzy is pretty much my perfect FG character, I thought I would learn someone who's going to be in Strive.  So I've been playing I-No and will probably try and learn Millia.

Also, just how good the netcode is.  I often see about 200+ ping and I've yet to have an unplayable match.  If for some reason Strive doesn't float my boat or the numbers dive heavily, then at least I'll have +R to go back to.

Yeah, pretty much every GG character has some element of rushdown to them.  Coming from DBFZ, seeing HoS key charging feels really disrespectful, but I know it's part of his game plan.  I might go back to Dizzy, but I'm really enjoying I-No.  I hope she keeps the charge and tiger knee elements to her dive kick in Strive.

Yeah I've been very pleasantly surprised at how often people are around in +R. There hasn't been a time yet where I haven't been able to find people to play. Though yeah you definitely run into some killers out there. At least when I see someone who has played 5000 matches I don't have an illusions about how the match is going to go. 😆

I went the opposite route: although broadly Strive is similar +R is enough of its own beast that I wanted to pick a character that I was interested in specifically for that game. Went with HoS since he hasn't (and won't) be in another game and it's a good way to get me to engage in the aggressive side of the game.
