  1. Characters getting bodied isn't so much the problem. If Chun gets beaten up by Juri, she, being the 1st lady of fighting games, will inevitably be back and maybe get another shot to reclaim glory, Bison's different. He's the big bad who started off as a powerful tournament organizer endboss and evolved to a post-human demon of sorts that's a threat to the life on the planet. He's had a consistent build up and shown to be a huger than huge deal, but if he keeps coming back, gets killed, jumps in another body over and over again, it feels hollow, redundant, and hurts his myth. As for Akuma, I've been vocal in the past about how any interest I had in him when I was younger has been severely dampened by the fact that he's been doing the "waiting cryptically in the shadows, waiting for Ryu to succumb while blowing up a sub or something" for 20+ years. He got to a slight twist on that in SFV, but I'm still tired of him just being trotted out and repeating the mysterious mystery without moving the needle forward. Sagat's been getting interesting development over the years and I'd prefer more of that. As for Cervantes I unfortunately haven't kept up with Project Soul over the last several years, but I'm aware there's other villains and he's not the focus. I wouldn't mind seeing Bison having a new direction and be the hero of his own story, I just want to wait to make the shift actually work and have weight. Them making a big deal on how this is the end of him as we know it has barley even lasted. They started having him appear ghostlke here and there, imply he's returning in Seth's story, having Oro and Dhalsim still going on about how there's "something" tied to him coming. It dampens any impact of Shadow Falls for me. This is supposed to be a huge development that we're seeing Bison fall at Ryu's hands, the kings are scattered, Shadaloo is in ruin and the Illuminati are moving forward to take on a new lead role in the series for their machinations, but nope, more of "Bison dies only to come back" is already planted. Taking a single entry break would sell that SF is going in a new direction better instead of fears it'll circle back to more of what we've already seen again. It'll give us time to see new story beats and when Bison returns, it can be more of a transition into something new rather than his spot not even getting cold yet. Bison is a big deal, he's not going to be put in the game and not have the whole world be ready for a global catastrophe, he'll be the main story focus again. Ooh, I like that perspective. That's totally what he should be. Oh snap, I didn't know that! Lol, that's hilarious Hmm, I dunno, though if you mean Captain Commando by CC, I don't buy the meme hah. I don't think he has anything to do with Cap if I'm being honest. I go over some details here: Other than being a blond dude, I don't think there's any major ties to the two. Heck, Captain Commando, according to CRI is fictional in SF since Ibuki's pal Yuta mains Mack the knife in the arcade game.
  2. Before I saw Scotia's post from Nakayama I was thinking that Joe finally hit the wall hard, had a sobering moment and settled down and kept away from fighting until ironically having one last fight to save people. Oop! Bison's one of my all time fav characters, it's just that he's been mined a TON without giving us a bit of a break. As Darc said, he's been utilized and unfortunately bodied a whole bunch. I look at it as if we only saw Batman fighting Joker or Two-Face all the time, we'd be robbed of the compelling adventures of Mr. Freeze, the tragic and disgusting Clayface tales, the thrillers when dealing with Riddler, or the intensity of Bane, Rhas Al Ghul and others. It' d be like Spidey always fighting Kingpin and Green Goblin, but never having faced off with Doc Ock, or Venom, or Mysterio and Kraven. SF's canon games and non canon games like EX and the crossovers have always featured Bison. We've barely scratched the surface with the Illuminati and who knows what fun and terror G could bring if allowed to flourish. I think Bison's interesting and has tons of potential, but if we just keep doing similar things again and again, people will get bored. I think SF is a game that could have decades worth of sequels especially now that we've broken the SF3 fears and the SF3 barrier to the timeline. Breaking past those things can give us amazing, new factions, forces and stories that can keep SF growing forever. KoF did it right and has an amazing history in game of different foes and forces. Imagine if we kept circling Rugal and only hinting at orochi without pulling thr trigger for 20 years or never did NESTS. I'm not saying kill of Bison forever, but give us some time to let the heart grow fonder, let's have his return be something incredibly cool and NEW without it being 5 minutes since the last plot and having it feel like another rehash. Let's build the legend, dip a bit into his past without spoiling the mystique and utilize those new elements to possible give us a new, desperate, and truly dangerous and unpredictable Bison. Let the time away allow him to truly evolve along with the series.
  3. Dear God, his father was killed by BIg Lumber! Damn you Arbor day! Lol, thanks for clearing that up dude, I appreciate it. On the topic of the Q attack, that theory comes from Steven Mane, I tend to disagree with his theories, but I agree, that one could be pretty cool. I wanna see more of Q and G as we're building up the lore for SF6, so that'd be neat.
  4. I definitely like his military & casual outfits for him better than his default. I'm really curious to see where his story goes. Like you said, it was nice way to reveal his trailer. He looks like he's got some interesting moves! I'm glad they ripped the bandaid off and didn't play coy about him being related to Guile or a "kid decades in the future" bs. He's got some surprises that I'm curious about. They said he has a connection to SF characters plural, so I'm thinking other than Guile, maybe Ryu & Alex (since they had him square off against them in the stream). Also, with them again confirming that he's got a role to play in the future, I'm really curious what exactly he's connected with, but also confirms they already have some idea of the story direction for 6. His dad, who he thought was a quiet, reserved man apparently gave his life to help evacuate people from some sort of disaster (there looks like a black swarming, swirling shadow) and it was several years prior to SFV. He's a little kid but appears to be a young man when he joins up, also, Guile's in his SFV look by then. "I won't lost to anybody!"- at first I thought he was gonna be a cocky , mma rookie wanting to be a bigshot, but now he looks like he wants to be stronger to protect people like his dad. We see that between the Sonic Eagles patch, working with Byron, and having Guile put a hand on his shoulder to ease him down, he's gonna be heavily in that corner of the SF world, but also seems to be a hothead pushing himself as far as he can go for reasons.
  5. This, good lord THIS. That's why I'm hoping against hope that it'll move the needle forward. With them actually breaking apart Shadaloo and reducing Bison to a ghost this time, I have some faith that it's moving somewhere, but I want it to be a notable move forward, not a half measure. That being said, it doesn't need to do a dramatic 10 year skip. My ideal scenario would be SF6 starts seconds after 3S and either builds up on that or has a a story that starts off after 3S and then maybe moves a few months forward to kick things off the story mode. Either way, the Illuminati and SF3 story content in general is so untapped still that I'm actually unsure how long I want them to stick with it. Like I think if they buckle down, give Alex a hell of a journey and we see what really happened with Gill vs Urien and the fall out from that, I'd be happy with SF7 being set in 1999/2000 and starting a new arc entirely. Right now, we've been stuck in 1997/8 for 20 years and it's getting too much. So I don't really see a reboot of any sort, I can see at worst a story that has time travel, but ultimately has a chapter close. I've said it multiple times but it'd be Days of Future Past rather than any DC reboot like Crisis or New 52.
  6. Huh, Miðgarðsorm just informed me that SRK is back to life under a new branding. Looks like the archived the forums too!
  7. @EvilCanadianPosted released this, gonna check it out, but figured I'd share it here!
  8. Thanks for the info on Sakura Ganbaru, guys, I appreciate it! Wow, those manhua's were weird. I vaguely remember them from the SRK days. They got int DBZ levels of new forms and super destruction. Eww, I remember the Oro arm situation now lol, so gross.
  9. Does anyone know if something happened to Sakura Ganbaru vol1? Everywhere I've looked, it's ludicrously expensive (upwards of $140!), yet vol 2 is just around 13 bucks. I can't understand why the drastic shift between volumes.
  10. Off topic, but through my twitter travels I learned about Joyce Godenzi and the movie She Shoots Straight (1990) and dang, watching these clips, I would have loved 80s-90s Hong Kong cinema Street Fighter. A solo Chun Li movie closer to this rather than Legend of Chun Li would be my dream. Clips & info on her:
  11. Hard to say since the story seems to be having some behind the scenes alterations on the fly, but I don't think we're getting a full reboot. I think we'll either just surpass the SF3 timeline or surpass the SF3 timeline, but have a parallel story that involves time travel. Kinda like how Days of Future Past involved time travel, but at the end of the story, the day was saved and there was no full on reboot.
  12. Oro is pretty interesting, even the "horndog" aspect is toned down compared to so many masters. He flirts and thinks women are into him, but he's got restraint, we're not seeing him drooling over things like a stereotypical senin, and for that I'm thankful. Also yeah, he's sassy, but he's not so arrogant, I loved his interactions with Dhalsim. He's a living legend, but he's not obnoxiously lording it over everyone, he can be blunt, but he can back it up. Also, his quote to Bison, could he have met Bison's master and seen this force previously? It used to be Soul power, so maybe he sees all the negativity focus and losing something from it's typical "balanced" state? I dunno, just thinking.
  13. Great job with the quotes! Some real nice ones with Oro, but wow, I dunno Charlie's to his kinda hit me. He's been such a jerk in most of these, and we see that while yes, he was willing to lay down his life for justice, poor guy would have liked to retire to an old age. No "I wanna go down in a blaze of glory while still young!"
  14. Oro's story: I love his friendship with Rose lol. Nice that she gave him the shirt!
  15. For me, while I l absolutely ove CvS, if I'm having a Capcom universe fighter, I'd want it to lean more to Marvel style or some evolution of it because I feel it deals with exaggerated, wacky characters better in terms of over the top moves and systems, and faster paced mayhem. I think the "Let's go crazy!" approach of crossovers would fit a game where Dante, like in MvC3 has tons of moves, you can have unbalanced, big body characters like a Cyberbots character in the roster and just screen filling, unrestricted moves. I feel that CvS is more "grounded" in a comparison. In a sense, I feel the MvC model lends itself to including characters from Capcom's impressive IP library who are less traditional fighters like Phoenix Wright, who can have the freedom to have really fun, ridiculous moves and game mechanics that affect characters in unique ways.
  16. Same, that's part of the big confusion I've had for a few years. I can understand things change, but it looks like they were scrambling to fix something multiple times. With how close in canon SF3 is and how so many new plot points popped up, it's jarring that nothing's answered as Midgarsorm mentioned. As you pointed out, Scotia, they appeared to be moving towards something each season but then spun around. With how Necalli was ultimately nothing major and how G is tied to Rose's worst fears, they've got something super important brewing (even the interview with Nakayama said the team is excited at seeing how people are trying to tie G, Q, and the G project together), but just as G is getting started with a fancy space station, boss-worthy stage filled with fans and minions, and Rose confirming that he's not what he appears to be and is the end of all things, we're hitting the end of the game and the final character seems to be pointing to SF6's future. It's frustrating. I wonder how much of the story focus' shifting was due to the alleged drama behind the scenes? I do hope that things are smoothed out lore wise for SF6 now that it seems the current team's synergy is better. Edit: Also, with Alex, he BETTER not be shafted. That would suck. I just hope that Luke being a "key player" means he's part of the protag posse but not shoving Alex out of the way. If Alex is large and incharge and Luke joins on his quest along the way, I'd be fine with that.
  17. Oh man I hope SF6 isn't a time skip. I...I just want SF3 resolved and then us having fun with a new bunch of arcs immediately right after.
  18. Captain Commando is Mars Carlyle though...I'm wondering what his deal is gonna be. I hope he doesn't steal Alex's spotlight, buuuuut....I fear it already lol
  19. Yeah, I was hoping for a really crazy fighting style to close things out on. I wanna know what his deal is, cause all the secrecy and mystery for this guy seems confusing. Especially after Rose's story blowing whole new chapter open to the SF lore, I thought it'd be someone tied to that.
  20. So dude seems to have military connections and is looking up to "him" Guile? Charlie? Curious as to who he could be and his connections.
  21. A guy I interact with on Twitter named Steven Mane noticed that in the original footage of Akira's reveal the Bike said Kanzaki, so it looks like they want to intentionally push a connection to Karin now. Let's see what tomorrow brings. Excited and nervous about the 5th character. I'm still worried it might be a crossover character or, despite how much I love DS, they'll try to merge the universes. What do you guys think? Who do you want and who do you expect is more likely? For me, I'm pretty open, I just hope whoever it is furthers the current lore stuff (and ties into the developing G mystery especially after Rose's bombshell), as for who I expect I'm betting it's a new character or crossover like Terry.
